Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Amsterdam Schiphol
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) is the main international airport of the Netherlands and one of Europe’s busiest air hubs. Located southwest of Amsterdam, Schiphol serves both leisure and business travellers arriving in the Dutch capital, the wider Randstad region and other destinations across the country. The airport is well connected by train, taxi, bus and road transport, but many travellers still prefer a pre-booked private transfer for a smoother and more predictable arrival.
WelcomeTaxi provides private airport transfers from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to hotels, apartments, offices, cruise terminals, exhibition venues and private addresses in Amsterdam and beyond. Whether you are travelling to the city centre, Amsterdam Zuid, Zuidas, Amsterdam RAI, Jordaan, De Pijp, Museum Quarter, Amsterdam Noord or a nearby city, a pre-arranged transfer helps avoid confusion at the airport and gives you a direct ride to your destination.
Getting from Amsterdam Airport to the City
There are several ways to travel from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam. The train is one of the fastest public transport options for passengers going to Amsterdam Central Station or other railway-connected areas. It can be efficient for solo travellers with light luggage, especially during the day. However, it may be less convenient if your hotel is not close to a station, if you arrive late, travel with children, carry several suitcases or need to continue by tram, metro or taxi after the train journey.
Regular taxis are available at the airport taxi rank, and ride-hailing services may also operate in the area. These options can be useful for spontaneous travel, but during busy periods there may be queues, unclear waiting times or limited availability of larger vehicles. For visitors unfamiliar with Schiphol, the airport layout, taxi zones and pick-up points can also be confusing after a long flight.
Buses and hotel shuttles may work for selected districts, airport hotels and budget-conscious travellers. However, they are usually less flexible than a private transfer, especially when travelling with heavy luggage, arriving at night or going to a residential address, cruise terminal or business venue.
Why Choose a Pre-Booked Private Transfer from AMS
A pre-booked private transfer from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is arranged before your arrival. Your driver receives the journey details in advance, including flight information, pick-up time, destination, passenger count and luggage requirements. This gives you a more comfortable start to the trip and removes the need to compare transport options at the airport.
Private airport transfers are especially practical for families, business travellers, cruise passengers, groups, elderly passengers and anyone travelling with extra luggage. Instead of changing between train, tram and walking routes, you are taken directly from the airport to your hotel, apartment, office or terminal.
For business visitors, the main advantage is predictability. Amsterdam is a major corporate destination, with frequent travel to Zuidas, Amsterdam RAI, Sloterdijk, Schiphol business parks, Utrecht, The Hague and Rotterdam. A reserved chauffeur-driven vehicle helps keep the schedule clear and avoids delays caused by searching for transport after landing.
Chauffeur Service in Amsterdam
WelcomeTaxi also arranges chauffeur service in Amsterdam for travellers who need more than a simple airport transfer. Hourly chauffeur hire is suitable for business meetings, conferences, corporate roadshows, diplomatic visits, private sightseeing, shopping trips, wedding transport and evening transfers between hotels, restaurants and event venues.
Amsterdam has a compact historic centre with canals, narrow streets, pedestrian areas and strict traffic rules. In many cases, local driving knowledge is more important than distance on the map. A professional chauffeur can help plan realistic timings between hotels, offices, restaurants, museums and venues, while passengers can focus on their trip rather than local transport logistics.
For visitors attending events at Amsterdam RAI, Johan Cruijff ArenA, AFAS Live, Ziggo Dome, Westergas, Passenger Terminal Amsterdam or major hotels around the city, a chauffeur service provides a convenient way to move between appointments and evening plans without relying on multiple separate taxi rides.
Transfers to Amsterdam Cruise Terminals
Amsterdam is a popular cruise and river cruise destination. Many passengers arriving at Schiphol need a direct transfer to Passenger Terminal Amsterdam, river cruise docks or hotel accommodation before boarding. A private transfer is a practical choice because cruise passengers often travel with more luggage and may need clear timing between flight arrival and embarkation.
For cruise departures, pre-booking the transfer from a hotel or private address to the terminal helps avoid last-minute stress. The driver can be given the correct terminal or quay information in advance, which is useful because cruise pick-up and drop-off points may vary depending on the operator and ship location.
Regional and Long-Distance Transfers from Amsterdam Airport
Schiphol is not only an airport for Amsterdam. It is also a major gateway for the entire Netherlands and nearby parts of Belgium and Germany. WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance transfers from Amsterdam Airport to Utrecht, Rotterdam, The Hague, Delft, Leiden, Haarlem, Eindhoven, Maastricht, Groningen, Breda, Arnhem, Nijmegen and other Dutch cities.
International long-distance transfers may also be arranged from AMS to destinations such as Antwerp, Brussels, Bruges, Ghent, Düsseldorf, Cologne or other cities in the surrounding region. These routes are often useful for business travellers, families, small groups and passengers whose final destination is not directly convenient by public transport.
For longer journeys, a private vehicle can be more comfortable than combining airport trains, station transfers and local taxis. It also allows door-to-door travel, which is particularly valuable when travelling with luggage, sports equipment, children or a complex itinerary.
Local Transportation Specifics in Amsterdam
Amsterdam has excellent public transport, including trains, trams, metro lines, buses and ferries. For many local journeys within the city, public transport can be efficient and cost-effective. However, airport arrivals and departures are different from everyday city movement. Travellers often have luggage, fixed flight times, unfamiliar addresses and limited energy after a flight.
The city centre can also be challenging for vehicles. Canal streets, one-way systems, bicycle traffic, tram lanes and restricted access areas may affect where a driver can stop. Hotels in the historic centre may have limited direct vehicle access, so the closest practical drop-off point may depend on the exact address. A pre-booked transfer helps manage these details in advance.
For departures from Amsterdam to Schiphol, timing is important. Traffic can be heavier during weekday commute hours, major events, bad weather or roadworks. A planned private transfer gives you a clearer schedule and reduces the risk of arranging transport too late.
Private Transfers vs Regular Airport Taxi
A regular airport taxi can be convenient if you need immediate transport and have a simple route. However, a pre-booked private transfer provides more control over the travel experience. The vehicle is arranged for your booking, the destination is known in advance, and the service can be matched more carefully to passenger and luggage needs.
This is especially useful at Schiphol because AMS serves a wide range of travellers: solo business passengers, families, cruise guests, conference groups and international visitors connecting to other Dutch cities. Not every airport taxi is the best fit for every journey, especially when a larger vehicle, child seat request, business-class vehicle or long-distance transfer is needed.
With WelcomeTaxi, the booking is handled in advance, which makes the arrival process easier and more transparent. Instead of negotiating at the airport or waiting for a suitable vehicle, passengers can proceed according to the confirmed transfer details.
Useful Travel Information for AMS Transfers
When booking an airport transfer from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, it is helpful to provide the flight number, arrival date, scheduled landing time, destination address, passenger count and luggage details. For hotel transfers, include the full hotel name and address. For apartment or private address transfers, a clear street address and local contact number can help the driver find the correct entrance.
If you are travelling to a cruise terminal, exhibition venue or business campus, provide the exact terminal, hall, entrance or meeting point where possible. Amsterdam and the surrounding region have many large venues with multiple access points, and precise details can save time on the day of travel.
For departures, allow enough time for the journey to Schiphol, airport security and check-in procedures. A private transfer does not remove airport formalities, but it helps make the road part of the journey more reliable and comfortable.
Whether you need a direct airport transfer to Amsterdam, chauffeur service for business meetings, transport to a cruise terminal or a long-distance transfer across the Netherlands and beyond, WelcomeTaxi provides a professional way to arrange your journey from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in advance.
