Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from El Dorado International Airport
El Dorado International Airport (BOG) is the main airport serving Bogota, the capital of Colombia. It is the country’s busiest air gateway and the usual arrival point for international visitors, business travelers, families and passengers connecting to other Colombian destinations. The airport is located in the western part of the city, with direct access to Avenida El Dorado and onward routes toward central, northern and southern Bogota.
For many travelers, the first journey from BOG to the city is more important than it may seem. Bogota is large, high-altitude and often congested, and travel times can vary widely depending on the time of day. A route that looks simple on a map can take longer during peak traffic, rain or major events. A pre-booked private airport transfer gives you a smoother start, with your pickup arranged in advance and a direct ride to your hotel, apartment, office or meeting point.
Getting from Bogota Airport to the City
There are several ways to travel from El Dorado Airport to Bogota. The most common options are official airport taxis, app-based rides, public transport, hotel shuttles and private transfers. Each option can work in the right situation, but they offer different levels of comfort, predictability and convenience.
Official airport taxis are available at the terminal and can be a practical option for short city trips. However, passengers still need to find the correct taxi area, confirm the destination and manage luggage after arrival. App-based rides are also used in Bogota, but pickup points, waiting times and vehicle availability may vary, especially during busy periods.
Public transport connects the airport area with the wider city, including bus and TransMilenio-linked services. This can be useful for local passengers or light travelers familiar with Bogota, but it is usually less convenient for visitors with suitcases, children, late arrivals or hotel check-ins in areas far from the main routes.
Hotel shuttles may be available for some properties, but they are not always private, flexible or suitable for all arrival times. For travelers who want a direct, pre-arranged and more comfortable solution, a private airport transfer is often the simplest choice.
Private Airport Transfers from BOG
WelcomeTaxi offers private transfers from Bogota El Dorado Airport to destinations across the city. Popular transfer areas include Chapinero, Zona T, Parque 93, Usaquén, La Candelaria, Teusaquillo, Salitre, Santa Bárbara, Chico, Rosales and the main business districts in the north of Bogota.
A private transfer is arranged before you travel, so the vehicle category, passenger count, luggage requirements and destination are already known. This is especially useful if you are arriving after a long international flight, traveling with colleagues, carrying several bags or visiting Bogota for the first time.
Instead of looking for transport at the airport, you can continue directly from the terminal to your destination. The service is designed for travelers who value reliability, clear communication and a professional arrival experience.
Chauffeur Service from Bogota Airport
El Dorado Airport is also a convenient starting point for chauffeur service in Bogota. Many business travelers arrive at BOG and continue directly to meetings, hotels, conference venues, embassies or corporate offices. A private chauffeur service allows the journey to be planned around your schedule rather than around taxi availability.
Chauffeur service can be arranged for airport arrivals, city meetings, hourly hire, business roadshows, private sightseeing, restaurant transfers or a full day of transport. This is particularly helpful in Bogota, where traffic conditions can change quickly and moving between districts may take longer than expected.
For leisure travelers, a chauffeur service can make it easier to visit areas such as La Candelaria, Monserrate, Usaquén, Zona G, Chapinero and the city’s museums or cultural attractions. For corporate travelers, it provides a more structured way to move between the airport, hotels and business addresses.
Why Pre-Book a Transfer from El Dorado Airport?
Pre-booking a transfer from BOG gives you more control over the arrival process. You know that the ride has been arranged, the destination has been provided and the vehicle is selected according to your needs. This is different from choosing a taxi or ride app only after landing, when demand, traffic and pickup conditions may already be difficult.
A regular taxi can be acceptable for simple city rides, but it may not be ideal if you need a larger vehicle, an English-speaking driver, multiple stops or a long-distance journey. Airport arrivals can also be tiring, especially after immigration, baggage claim and a long flight. Having transport already organized removes one decision from the arrival process.
For families and small groups, a private transfer also helps avoid the problem of splitting into several vehicles. For business travelers, it creates a more professional arrival experience. For visitors unfamiliar with Bogota, it reduces uncertainty and helps make the first journey in Colombia easier.
Local Transportation Specifics at Bogota Airport
Bogota’s traffic is one of the main reasons to plan airport transport carefully. El Dorado Airport is connected to the city by major roads, but journey times can vary significantly. Trips to nearby districts such as Salitre or Teusaquillo may be relatively short, while journeys to Usaquén, Parque 93 or the northern business areas can take longer, especially during morning and evening peak hours.
Weather can also affect traffic. Heavy rain may slow down roads around the airport and across the city. Large events, roadworks and local restrictions may also influence travel times. A pre-booked transfer cannot remove traffic, but it helps ensure that the trip is planned with the right route, vehicle and pickup details from the beginning.
For departures from Bogota, it is important to allow enough time to reach BOG. International flights usually require earlier arrival at the airport, and the transfer time from northern or eastern districts can be unpredictable. Booking a private transfer in advance helps plan the pickup time more safely.
Long-Distance Transfers from Bogota El Dorado Airport
El Dorado Airport is not only a gateway to Bogota but also a starting point for regional travel in central Colombia. WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance private transfers from BOG to selected destinations outside the city, depending on route conditions and vehicle availability.
Common regional routes from Bogota include destinations such as Chía, Cajicá, Zipaquirá, Sopó, La Calera, Fusagasugá, Melgar, Girardot, Villa de Leyva and other towns in Cundinamarca and nearby regions. These journeys are often easier by private car, especially when traveling with luggage, family members or a fixed itinerary.
Long-distance transfers are also useful for travelers going directly from the airport to countryside hotels, private villas, wedding venues, retreats, golf clubs or business sites outside Bogota. Instead of arranging local transport after arrival, you can continue from BOG directly to your final destination.
Nearby Airports and Regional Connections
For Bogota itself, El Dorado International Airport is the main and most practical airport. There is no second major commercial airport serving the city in the same way. However, central Colombia has several regional airports that may be relevant for wider travel planning.
La Vanguardia Airport (VVC) serves Villavicencio, southeast of Bogota, while Perales Airport (IBE) serves Ibagué to the west. These airports are regional gateways rather than direct alternatives for most Bogota arrivals, but they may be relevant for travelers planning multi-city itineraries or regional connections across Colombia.
For most international passengers, arriving at BOG and continuing by private transfer remains the most convenient way to reach Bogota or nearby destinations.
