Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Private Transfers from Bari Airport (BRI)

Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport (BRI), also known as Bari Palese Airport, is the main airport serving Bari and the wider Apulia (Puglia) region in southern Italy. Located approximately 8 kilometers northwest of Bari city center, the airport is one of the most important transport hubs in southern Italy and handles millions of passengers each year, especially during the summer tourism season.

Bari Airport is a popular arrival point for travelers visiting the Adriatic coast, historic towns of Puglia, beach resorts, UNESCO sites, and cruise terminals. The region has become increasingly popular among international visitors thanks to its Mediterranean coastline, traditional cuisine, charming whitewashed towns, and relatively relaxed atmosphere compared to Italy’s larger tourist centers.

WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked airport transfers and chauffeur service from Bari Airport to destinations throughout southern Italy, including Bari city, Matera, Alberobello, Monopoli, Polignano a Mare, Ostuni, Lecce, Taranto, and Brindisi.

About Bari Airport

Bari Airport operates domestic and international flights throughout Europe, with strong seasonal traffic during spring and summer. The airport is modern, relatively compact, and easy to navigate compared to larger Italian airports.

The airport serves both low-cost and traditional carriers, connecting Apulia with cities such as Rome, Milan, London, Paris, Munich, Amsterdam, and many other European destinations.

Despite its manageable size, Bari Airport can become crowded during peak travel periods. Taxi queues, limited public transportation schedules, and high seasonal demand can make onward travel less predictable, especially for travelers arriving late at night or during weekends.

For this reason, many visitors prefer arranging a private airport transfer in advance.

Transportation Options from Bari Airport

Train

Bari Airport is connected to Bari Centrale railway station by the Ferrotramviaria train service. The journey usually takes around 15–20 minutes, making it one of the faster airport rail links in southern Italy.

However, train schedules may not always align well with flight arrivals, especially for early morning or late evening flights. Travelers with heavy luggage, children, or plans to continue to smaller towns across Puglia often find the train less practical.

Public Bus

Airport shuttle buses connect Bari Airport with the city center and some nearby areas. While buses are inexpensive, they can be crowded during the summer season and may involve waiting times.

Public transport is generally suitable for budget travelers heading only to Bari city itself, but it becomes less convenient for regional destinations or hotels outside central urban areas.

Regular Taxi

Official taxis are available outside the terminal. However, pricing can vary depending on traffic conditions, route selection, luggage supplements, and seasonal demand.

During busy arrival periods, passengers may encounter long queues. Communication can also occasionally be difficult for international travelers who do not speak Italian.

Pre-Booked Airport Transfers

Pre-booked airport transfers provide a more comfortable and predictable alternative to regular taxis. With WelcomeTaxi, travelers receive fixed pricing, professional service, and direct transportation to their destination without waiting in taxi lines or navigating local transport systems after a flight.

Drivers monitor flight arrivals and can meet passengers directly at the airport with a name sign when requested.

This option is especially popular among families, groups, cruise passengers, and travelers heading to smaller towns across Puglia.

Chauffeur Service in Bari and Puglia

In addition to airport pickups, WelcomeTaxi offers chauffeur service throughout Bari and the Apulia region.

Private chauffeur service is widely used for:

  • business meetings,
  • corporate travel,
  • hotel transportation,
  • sightseeing tours,
  • wedding transportation,
  • cruise port transfers,
  • luxury travel,
  • multi-stop regional itineraries.

Travelers visiting Puglia often combine several destinations into one trip. A private chauffeur allows greater flexibility than public transportation, especially in rural areas where train connections may be limited.

English-speaking drivers can also make travel significantly easier for international visitors unfamiliar with local roads, parking restrictions, or regional transport systems.

Long-Distance Transfers from Bari Airport

One of the major advantages of Bari Airport is its strategic location for exploring southern Italy. Many visitors land in Bari and continue directly to other cities or coastal destinations.

Popular long-distance transfer routes include:

Bari Airport to Matera

Matera, famous for its ancient cave dwellings known as the Sassi di Matera, is one of the most visited destinations in southern Italy. Although located in the neighboring Basilicata region, Matera is often reached via Bari Airport because of the short travel distance.

A private transfer from Bari Airport to Matera usually takes around one hour and provides a far simpler alternative to combining trains and buses.

Bari Airport to Alberobello

Alberobello is internationally known for its traditional trulli houses and UNESCO World Heritage status. Public transport connections can be slow and indirect, making private transportation one of the most practical options.

Bari Airport to Polignano a Mare and Monopoli

These coastal towns are among the most popular seaside destinations in Puglia. During summer, roads and rail services can become crowded, while parking availability in historic centers is often limited.

A private transfer allows direct arrival at the hotel or accommodation without unnecessary complications.

Bari Airport to Lecce

Lecce is often referred to as the “Florence of the South” because of its Baroque architecture and historic center. The journey from Bari Airport takes approximately two hours by road.

Many travelers choose chauffeur-driven transfers to avoid train changes and to travel more comfortably across the region.

Why Choose a Private Transfer Instead of a Regular Taxi

While local taxis are available at Bari Airport, pre-booked transfers offer several important advantages.

Fixed Pricing

With a pre-arranged transfer, the price is confirmed in advance. Travelers avoid unexpected costs caused by traffic, route changes, or seasonal surcharges.

Flight Monitoring

Drivers can monitor flight arrival times and adjust pickup schedules if a flight is delayed.

Direct Door-to-Door Service

Unlike trains or buses, private transfers take passengers directly to hotels, apartments, villas, cruise terminals, or rural accommodations.

Comfort After a Flight

After a long journey, many travelers prefer avoiding crowded buses, train stations, or taxi queues.

Better Regional Connectivity

Public transportation in Puglia works reasonably well between major cities but can become limited when traveling to smaller coastal towns, countryside villas, or less touristy areas.

Private transfers provide much greater flexibility for regional travel.

Useful Information for Travelers Arriving at Bari Airport

Best Time to Visit

Puglia is particularly popular between May and September, when beach tourism is at its peak. July and August are the busiest months, with heavier traffic and higher demand for transportation services.

Spring and early autumn are often considered ideal for regional travel thanks to milder temperatures and fewer crowds.

Bari Cruise Port

Bari is also an important Adriatic cruise port. Many travelers use Bari Airport before or after Mediterranean cruises.

Pre-booked transfers between Bari Airport and Bari Port are especially useful for cruise passengers with luggage or strict boarding schedules.

Driving in Southern Italy

Although renting a car is common in Puglia, driving conditions in historic centers can be challenging for visitors unfamiliar with Italian traffic rules, narrow streets, and restricted traffic zones (ZTL areas).

Private transfers and chauffeur services allow travelers to avoid parking difficulties and navigation stress.

Comfortable Airport Transfers Across Southern Italy

Whether traveling to Bari itself, exploring the coastline of Puglia, visiting Matera, or continuing toward other regions of southern Italy, a pre-booked airport transfer offers a convenient and reliable way to begin the journey.

WelcomeTaxi provides private airport transfers, chauffeur service, and long-distance transportation from Bari Airport with professional drivers, fixed pricing, and comfortable vehicles adapted for both leisure and business travel.
