Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from BWI Airport
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) is a major commercial airport serving both Baltimore and the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region. Located south of Downtown Baltimore and north-east of Washington, the airport is particularly convenient for travellers visiting central Maryland, Baltimore, Annapolis and parts of the greater Washington area.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private airport transfers from BWI Airport to hotels, residences, offices and regional destinations. Passengers can organise their transportation before travelling and continue directly from the airport with a professional driver rather than arranging their onward journey after arrival.
Private transfers are suitable for individual travellers, couples, families, business passengers and larger groups. Chauffeur service and long-distance transfers can also be arranged for journeys throughout Maryland, Washington, D.C. and destinations farther across the Mid-Atlantic region.
Getting from BWI Airport to Baltimore
BWI is located only a short distance from Downtown Baltimore and offers several ground transportation options. Passengers can choose between light rail, MARC and Amtrak rail services, taxis, rideshare vehicles, rental cars and pre-booked private transfers.
The most suitable option depends on the final destination, amount of luggage, group size and whether the passenger prefers public transport or direct door-to-door service.
Light Rail from BWI Airport
Maryland Transit Administration light rail services connect BWI Airport with Baltimore and other destinations in the metropolitan area. The light rail stop is located at the airport terminal, making it a practical option for travellers whose destination is close to the route.
Public rail can be economical for solo travellers and passengers carrying light luggage. Those staying away from a convenient station may still need to walk, use local transit or arrange another vehicle for the final part of the journey.
A private airport transfer provides direct transportation from BWI to the passenger's hotel, residence or business address.
MARC and Amtrak Rail Services
BWI Marshall Airport Rail Station is served by both MARC commuter trains and Amtrak services. A free airport shuttle connects the passenger terminal with the rail station throughout the day and night.
MARC's Penn Line provides convenient rail connections between the airport station, Baltimore Penn Station and Washington Union Station. Amtrak also serves the station, providing additional connections along the Northeast Corridor.
Rail is particularly useful for passengers travelling between major city centres. A private transfer may be more convenient when the final destination is away from a railway station or when passengers are travelling with substantial luggage.
Taxis at BWI Airport
Taxi stands are located on the Arrivals level outside baggage claim. Taxis provide direct transportation to Baltimore, Washington and destinations throughout the surrounding region.
A regular airport taxi can be convenient for passengers who prefer to arrange transportation after landing. A pre-booked transfer provides an alternative when travellers want their vehicle organised before departure or require a particular vehicle size for passengers and luggage.
Uber, Lyft and Rideshare Services
Uber and Lyft operate at BWI Airport with designated pickup areas on the Departures level. These services provide a flexible option for passengers arranging transportation through a mobile app.
Prices and waiting times can vary according to demand. Travellers who prefer a confirmed vehicle and pre-arranged journey may find a private airport transfer more convenient, particularly for longer regional trips.
Rental Cars
BWI Airport has a dedicated rental car facility serving several major car rental companies. Shuttle services connect the terminal with the rental centre.
Hiring a car can be useful for visitors planning an independent road trip through Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania or destinations farther along the East Coast. For a straightforward journey to a hotel or business address, however, a chauffeur-driven transfer avoids rental formalities, navigation and parking.
Why Pre-Book a Private Transfer from BWI?
Pre-booking allows the airport journey to be organised before arrival. The pickup, destination, passenger number and vehicle requirements can all be specified in advance.
This is especially useful at BWI because the airport serves several distinct markets. Some passengers are travelling to Baltimore, while others continue to Annapolis, Washington, suburban Maryland or destinations farther across the region.
Door-to-door service eliminates the need to use an airport shuttle to the rail station, change trains or arrange another taxi after reaching the nearest transport hub.
Families and groups can also reserve a vehicle with sufficient seating and luggage capacity rather than depending on the size of the next available taxi or rideshare vehicle.
Transfers from BWI Airport to Downtown Baltimore
Downtown Baltimore is one of the main destinations for passengers arriving at BWI. The city centre includes major hotels, offices, convention facilities, medical institutions and visitor attractions.
Light rail and rail services provide useful public transport connections, while taxis and rideshare vehicles offer direct road transport. A private transfer takes passengers directly from the terminal to their hotel, residence or business address.
This can be particularly convenient after a late arrival, when travelling with children or when carrying several pieces of luggage.
BWI Airport Transfers to Inner Harbor
Baltimore's Inner Harbor is one of the city's principal tourism and hospitality districts. It is home to major hotels, restaurants, attractions, event venues and waterfront developments.
A private transfer from BWI provides direct transportation to accommodation around the Inner Harbor without requiring an additional local connection from a rail or light rail stop.
Chauffeur service can also be arranged for visitors attending business events, conferences or private functions in central Baltimore.
Transfers from BWI Airport to Washington, D.C.
BWI is not only a Baltimore airport. It also serves the Washington metropolitan market and is located approximately 32 miles north-east of central Washington, D.C.
MARC and Amtrak trains provide convenient connections between BWI Marshall Airport Rail Station and Washington Union Station. Passengers must first use the airport's free shuttle between the terminal and rail station.
A private transfer offers direct door-to-door transportation from BWI to a hotel, residence, office or government destination in Washington without changing between shuttle and rail services.
This can be particularly useful for families, groups, passengers with substantial luggage or travellers whose final destination is not close to Union Station.
BWI Airport Transfers to Annapolis
Annapolis, the capital of Maryland, is another important destination within convenient road distance of BWI. The city attracts government, business, military and leisure travellers and is home to the United States Naval Academy.
Public transport connections from the airport are less direct than those to Baltimore or Washington. A private transfer therefore provides a convenient door-to-door option to hotels, residences, government offices and other destinations in Annapolis.
Chauffeur Service in Baltimore and Central Maryland
WelcomeTaxi chauffeur service can be arranged for business schedules, events, sightseeing and personalised itineraries throughout Baltimore and central Maryland.
The region contains major corporate offices, hospitals, universities, government institutions and event venues spread across Baltimore City and surrounding counties. A private vehicle with driver allows passengers to travel according to their own programme rather than arranging separate taxis or rideshare vehicles for each journey.
Chauffeur service can also be useful for full-day schedules involving several meetings, events or destinations across Baltimore, Annapolis and the Washington region.
Business Travel from BWI Airport
BWI is a major gateway for business travellers visiting Baltimore, Washington and the wider Maryland region. Its location between the two metropolitan areas makes it convenient for corporate, government and conference travel.
A pre-booked chauffeur can provide direct transportation from the airport to an office, hotel, convention venue, university, medical centre or meeting location.
Hourly chauffeur service may also be appropriate when several appointments are scheduled during the same day and transportation is required between multiple locations.
Regional Transfers from BWI Airport
BWI is well positioned for road journeys throughout central Maryland and the wider Mid-Atlantic region. Private regional transfers can be arranged to suburban communities, business centres, hotels and destinations that are not conveniently served by direct rail connections.
Instead of travelling first into Baltimore or Washington to change transport, passengers can continue directly from the airport towards their final destination.
This can be especially useful for families, groups, business passengers and travellers carrying substantial luggage.
Long-Distance Transfers from BWI
Private long-distance transfers provide an alternative to trains, coaches and domestic flights when direct address-to-address travel is the priority.
Journeys can be arranged from BWI Airport to destinations across Maryland and neighbouring states according to the required route and vehicle. Passengers remain in one vehicle throughout the journey rather than transferring between stations or terminals.
For longer routes, Amtrak or domestic flights may sometimes be faster, but chauffeur-driven transportation remains useful when the itinerary includes several stops or when the destination is outside the main rail network.
Baltimore and Washington's Major Airports
The Baltimore-Washington region is served by three major commercial airports: Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).
BWI is the closest major airport to Baltimore and also serves Washington. Reagan National is located close to central Washington, while Dulles lies west of the capital in Northern Virginia and is a major international gateway.
Passengers should check their airport code carefully when arranging transportation because BWI, DCA and IAD are separate airports located in different parts of the region.
Transfers between BWI, DCA and IAD
Private airport-to-airport transfers can be useful when an itinerary requires travel between different airports in the Baltimore-Washington region.
Public transport between BWI and Washington is straightforward using MARC or Amtrak, but onward travel to DCA or IAD requires additional connections. A direct private transfer can therefore simplify airport changes, particularly for passengers travelling with several bags or as part of a group.
When booking an airport-to-airport transfer, passengers should allow sufficient time for regional traffic as well as check-in and security requirements at the departing airport.
Useful Information for Arriving Passengers
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport uses the IATA code BWI. The airport is located approximately nine miles south of Downtown Baltimore and about 32 miles north-east of Washington, D.C.
Ground transportation includes light rail, MARC commuter rail, Amtrak, taxis, rideshare services, rental cars and regional transport. A free shuttle connects the passenger terminal with BWI Marshall Airport Rail Station.
When booking a private airport transfer, passengers should provide the correct flight details, complete destination address, number of travellers and realistic luggage requirements. It is also important to confirm whether the flight arrives at BWI, Reagan National Airport (DCA) or Washington Dulles Airport (IAD).
With airport transfers, chauffeur service and long-distance private transportation available from BWI Airport, travellers can arrange their onward journey before arrival and travel directly to Baltimore, Washington, Annapolis or destinations farther across the region.
