Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Hanoi Noi Bai Airport

Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) is the main airport serving Hanoi and one of the principal gateways to northern Vietnam. Located north of central Hanoi, the airport handles both domestic and international flights and is the usual arrival point for visitors travelling to the Vietnamese capital, Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh and many other destinations in the north of the country.

WelcomeTaxi offers pre-booked private airport transfers from Noi Bai Airport to hotels, apartments, business addresses and regional destinations. Passengers can organise their journey before travelling and continue directly from the terminal with an English-speaking driver instead of arranging local transportation after landing.

Private transfers are suitable for individual travellers, couples, families, business passengers and groups. Chauffeur service and long-distance transfers can also be arranged for journeys beyond Hanoi, making the airport a convenient starting point for onward travel throughout northern Vietnam.

Getting from Hanoi Airport to the City

Travellers arriving at Noi Bai Airport can choose between public buses, airport minibuses, taxis, app-based transport, rental vehicles and pre-booked private transfers. Hanoi has a wide range of transport options, but the best choice depends on arrival time, luggage, group size and the exact location of the accommodation.

Public Buses from Noi Bai Airport

Several public bus routes connect Noi Bai International Airport with different parts of Hanoi. These include Route 86 to Hanoi Railway Station, as well as routes serving areas such as Cau Giay, Kim Ma, Long Bien, My Dinh, Ha Dong and other parts of the metropolitan area.

Public buses are an economical way to reach the city and can work well for travellers carrying light luggage who are staying close to a convenient stop. However, Hanoi is a large city, and many passengers will still need another bus, taxi or walk to reach their final address.

A private airport transfer avoids additional connections and takes passengers directly from the airport to their hotel or apartment.

Airport Minibuses

Minibus services are also available at Noi Bai Airport. These shared transport options provide another way to travel towards Hanoi and may be convenient for passengers whose accommodation is close to the service route or drop-off area.

As with public buses, shared transportation does not normally provide direct door-to-door service to every hotel or private address. Passengers arriving with several suitcases, children or a larger group may therefore prefer a pre-booked vehicle.

Taxis at Hanoi Airport

Licensed taxis operate from Noi Bai International Airport throughout the flight schedule. They provide a direct option for passengers who prefer to arrange transportation after arrival rather than use public buses.

A regular airport taxi can be practical for an uncomplicated journey into Hanoi. However, passengers may prefer a pre-booked transfer when they want their transport confirmed before departure, require a specific vehicle size or are travelling directly to a destination outside the city.

Ride-Hailing Services

App-based transport services are widely used in Hanoi and can provide another alternative to conventional taxis. Fares and vehicle availability may vary according to demand, time of day and pickup location.

For travellers unfamiliar with the airport or arriving on an international flight, coordinating an app pickup can sometimes require additional communication and locating the correct collection area. A pre-arranged private transfer provides a more structured arrival experience.

Rental Cars and Private Vehicles

Independent car rental is less straightforward in Vietnam for many international visitors than in some other destinations because driving requirements, local traffic conditions and licensing rules need to be considered carefully. Hanoi traffic can also be challenging for visitors who are not familiar with local driving patterns.

Travellers who want the flexibility of travelling by private vehicle without driving themselves can instead use chauffeur service or book individual transfers between destinations.

Why Pre-Book a Private Transfer from HAN?

Pre-booking means that the essential details of the airport journey are organised before the passenger arrives in Vietnam. The pickup, destination, passenger number and vehicle requirements can all be specified in advance.

Door-to-door service is particularly valuable in Hanoi because accommodation is spread across a large and busy urban area. Visitors may stay in the Old Quarter, around Hoan Kiem Lake, in the French Quarter, West Lake, Ba Dinh, Cau Giay or newer business districts elsewhere in the city.

Instead of determining the correct public transport connection after a flight, passengers can travel directly to the address provided when booking.

Pre-booking is also useful for families and larger groups. A vehicle with sufficient seating and luggage capacity can be selected beforehand rather than relying on whichever taxi happens to be available at the terminal.

Transfers to Hanoi Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem

Hanoi's Old Quarter and the area around Hoan Kiem Lake are among the city's most popular locations for international visitors. The historic centre contains a dense network of streets, hotels, restaurants, shops and attractions.

Although airport buses serve central Hanoi, the final part of the journey may still require another vehicle or a walk with luggage. Traffic and the compact street layout can also make first-time arrival confusing, particularly after a long international flight.

A private transfer provides direct transportation from Noi Bai Airport to the passenger's hotel or accommodation address in the city centre.

Chauffeur Service in Hanoi

WelcomeTaxi chauffeur service can be arranged for more than a simple airport pickup. A private vehicle with driver may be used for business schedules, sightseeing, events or journeys involving several locations in and around Hanoi.

The city is geographically extensive, and important hotels, offices, conference venues and attractions are distributed across different districts. For travellers with a full schedule, having organised private transportation can be more convenient than arranging a new taxi for every journey.

Chauffeur service can also be useful for day trips and regional itineraries when the passenger prefers to travel according to a personalised timetable rather than a fixed bus or tour schedule.

Regional Transfers from Hanoi Airport

Noi Bai Airport is an important starting point for travel throughout northern Vietnam. Many international visitors arrive in Hanoi but continue directly to another destination without spending their first night in the capital.

Private regional transfers allow passengers to leave the airport and travel directly to their hotel, resort or other accommodation. This eliminates the need to enter central Hanoi simply to connect with another bus or train.

Common directions from Hanoi include Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh and Hai Phong, as well as destinations in the mountainous and rural regions of northern Vietnam.

Hanoi Airport Transfers to Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay is one of the best-known destinations in northern Vietnam and is frequently combined with a visit to Hanoi. Travellers may stay in Ha Long City, travel to a cruise terminal or continue to accommodation elsewhere around the bay.

A private transfer from Noi Bai Airport can be particularly convenient when the timing of an arriving flight does not fit a shared shuttle schedule. Passengers travel directly from the airport towards their booked hotel or embarkation point without first travelling into central Hanoi.

For families, groups and passengers carrying substantial luggage, direct road transportation also reduces the number of times baggage needs to be handled during the journey.

Private Transfers from Hanoi Airport to Ninh Binh

Ninh Binh is another important destination for visitors to northern Vietnam. The region is known for its limestone landscapes, rivers, historic sites and countryside accommodation around areas such as Tam Coc and Trang An.

Although trains and buses connect Hanoi with Ninh Binh, passengers arriving by air would normally need to travel from Noi Bai Airport into the city or to another transport terminal before continuing.

A direct airport transfer provides a simpler alternative, taking passengers from HAN to their final hotel or accommodation in the Ninh Binh area in one journey.

Transfers from Hanoi Airport to Hai Phong

Hai Phong is an important port city east of Hanoi and a gateway to destinations along the northern coast. Passengers arriving at Noi Bai Airport can travel directly to Hai Phong by private transfer instead of entering Hanoi first.

This option can be useful for business travellers, families and passengers continuing towards coastal destinations. Cat Bi International Airport (HPH) serves Hai Phong itself, but it is a separate regional airport rather than a practical secondary airport for Hanoi.

Long-Distance Transfers from Hanoi

Private long-distance transfers are suitable for journeys to destinations where public transportation requires several stages or where direct door-to-door travel is preferred.

Northern Vietnam includes major cities, coastal areas, mountain destinations and rural regions separated by considerable distances. Travelling with a private driver can simplify such itineraries, particularly when carrying luggage or travelling with family members.

Long-distance chauffeur service may also be suitable for multi-day or multi-city travel. Routes can be planned around the passenger's itinerary rather than around fixed departure times at bus or railway stations.

Domestic and International Terminals at Noi Bai Airport

Noi Bai International Airport operates separate passenger terminals for domestic and international flights. Terminal 1 is used for domestic services, while Terminal 2 handles international flights.

The airport provides a free shuttle service between the two terminals. This is useful for passengers connecting between international and domestic flights, but travellers booking a private airport transfer should provide accurate flight information so that the pickup can be arranged at the appropriate terminal.

Useful Information for Arriving Passengers

Noi Bai International Airport uses the IATA code HAN. When booking a transfer, passengers should provide the correct flight details, complete destination address, number of passengers and realistic luggage requirements.

Road journey times between the airport and Hanoi vary according to traffic and the exact destination. The city can be especially busy during peak periods, so passengers travelling onwards to a train, meeting, tour departure or other time-sensitive appointment should allow an appropriate margin.

Public buses provide an inexpensive connection into Hanoi, while taxis and ride-hailing services are convenient for passengers arranging transportation after arrival. For travellers who prefer their journey organised before departure, a pre-booked private transfer offers direct door-to-door transportation with a vehicle selected for their requirements.

With airport transfers, chauffeur service and long-distance private transportation available from Noi Bai International Airport, visitors can continue directly to Hanoi or destinations throughout northern Vietnam after their flight.
