Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Santorini Airport
Santorini Airport (JTR), also known as Santorini (Thira) International Airport, is the island's only commercial airport and the main aviation gateway to one of Greece's most popular destinations. Located on the eastern side of Santorini, near Kamari and Monolithos, the airport provides convenient access to Fira, Oia, Imerovigli, Perissa, Akrotiri and resorts throughout the island.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private airport transfers from Santorini Airport to hotels, villas, resorts and other accommodation across the island. Passengers can organise their transportation before travelling and continue directly from the terminal with a professional English-speaking driver rather than arranging their onward journey after arrival.
Private transfers are suitable for individual travellers, couples, families and groups. Chauffeur service can also be arranged for sightseeing, events, restaurant visits and tailored journeys around Santorini.
Getting from Santorini Airport to Your Hotel
Santorini is a relatively small island, but its steep terrain, narrow roads and scattered villages make ground transportation an important part of the arrival experience. Travellers can choose between public buses, taxis, rental cars and pre-booked private transfers.
The most suitable option depends on the location of the accommodation, arrival time, amount of luggage and whether the passenger prefers the lowest cost or direct door-to-door travel.
Public Bus from Santorini Airport
Public buses connect Santorini Airport with Fira, the island's main transport hub. From Fira, passengers can transfer to other bus services for destinations such as Oia, Kamari, Perissa and other parts of Santorini.
The bus is an economical option for travellers with light luggage and flexible schedules. However, passengers staying outside Fira usually need to change services and may still have to walk from the nearest bus stop to their accommodation.
A private airport transfer provides direct transportation to the hotel, villa or resort without an intermediate connection.
Taxis at Santorini Airport
Taxis are available outside the terminal and provide direct transportation to destinations around the island. They are a practical option for passengers who prefer to arrange transportation after landing.
During the busy summer season, taxi demand can be high. A pre-booked transfer provides greater certainty by arranging the vehicle and destination before the flight.
Rental Cars
Rental cars are widely used by visitors who want to explore Santorini independently. Having a car can be useful for visiting beaches, villages, wineries and archaeological sites over several days.
Driving on Santorini can nevertheless be challenging for visitors unfamiliar with narrow roads, steep sections and limited parking in some popular villages. Travellers who prefer not to drive can use private transfers and chauffeur service instead.
Why Pre-Book a Private Transfer from JTR?
Pre-booking allows the airport journey to be organised before arrival. The pickup, destination, passenger number and vehicle requirements can all be specified in advance.
This is particularly useful in Santorini because many hotels and villas are located in hillside villages or along roads where public transport does not provide direct access. Door-to-door transportation can significantly simplify arrival with luggage.
Families and groups can also reserve a vehicle with enough seating and luggage capacity rather than depending on the next available taxi.
For international visitors, an English-speaking driver can also make the arrival process easier and simplify communication about the hotel, villa or meeting point.
Transfers from Santorini Airport to Fira
Fira is the capital of Santorini and one of the island's main accommodation, shopping and nightlife centres. It is also the central hub for the island's public bus network.
Public buses provide a direct connection between the airport and Fira. A private transfer offers direct transportation to the passenger's hotel or other accommodation without waiting for a scheduled departure.
This can be particularly convenient for travellers arriving late, carrying several suitcases or staying in accommodation away from the bus station.
Santorini Airport Transfers to Oia
Oia is one of Santorini's best-known destinations and is famous for its caldera views, whitewashed buildings and sunsets. It lies at the northern end of the island and is farther from the airport than Fira.
Travellers using public transport normally travel via Fira and change buses before continuing to Oia. A private transfer provides direct transportation from JTR to the passenger's hotel, villa or other accommodation.
Because Oia has pedestrian areas and restricted vehicle access in some locations, the driver may use the nearest practical drop-off point for certain properties.
Transfers to Imerovigli and Firostefani
Imerovigli and Firostefani are popular caldera-side villages between Fira and Oia, with boutique hotels, villas and luxury accommodation overlooking the Aegean Sea.
A private airport transfer provides direct transportation to the appropriate access point for the property and avoids the need to travel through Fira by bus before continuing elsewhere.
Transfers from Santorini Airport to Kamari
Kamari is one of the closest major resort areas to Santorini Airport and is known for its black-sand beach, hotels, restaurants and waterfront promenade.
Its location on the eastern side of the island makes the airport journey relatively short. A private transfer provides direct transportation to the passenger's hotel or apartment.
Santorini Airport Transfers to Perissa and Perivolos
Perissa and Perivolos are popular beach destinations on the south-eastern coast of Santorini. They offer hotels, resorts, restaurants and long stretches of volcanic beach.
Public transport generally requires travelling via Fira, while a private transfer provides a direct road journey from Santorini Airport to the passenger's accommodation.
Transfers to Akrotiri
Akrotiri is located in the south-western part of Santorini and is known for its archaeological site, caldera views and nearby beaches. Hotels and villas are spread around the village and surrounding countryside.
A private transfer from JTR is particularly convenient for accommodation away from the main bus stops and provides direct transportation without travelling through central Fira first.
Chauffeur Service in Santorini
WelcomeTaxi chauffeur service can be arranged for sightseeing, events, restaurant visits and personalised itineraries around the island.
Santorini's main attractions are spread between villages, beaches, wineries and archaeological sites. A private vehicle with an English-speaking driver allows travellers to plan several stops according to their own schedule rather than coordinating multiple bus journeys or arranging a new taxi each time.
Chauffeur service can also be useful for weddings, private events and journeys between hotels, venues and restaurants.
Transfers to Santorini Port
Athinios Port is Santorini's main ferry port and an important connection point for travellers continuing to or arriving from other Greek islands.
The road to the port descends the steep caldera cliffs through a series of bends, and traffic can become heavy around major ferry arrivals and departures.
Private transfers can be arranged between Santorini Airport and Athinios Port, as well as between the port and hotels across the island. Passengers connecting between a flight and ferry should allow sufficient time because ferry traffic can affect road journey times.
Airport Transfers for Cruise and Ferry Passengers
Santorini receives large numbers of ferry and cruise visitors during the tourism season. Passengers may need transportation between the airport, hotels and ferry port as part of a wider Greek island itinerary.
Private transfers provide direct connections between these locations and can be particularly useful when carrying substantial luggage or travelling as a group.
Exploring Santorini by Private Driver
A chauffeur-driven vehicle can be used for more than airport transportation. Travellers can arrange private journeys to villages, beaches, wineries, viewpoints and other attractions around the island.
Popular areas include Oia, Fira, Imerovigli, Pyrgos, Akrotiri, Kamari and the southern beaches. A private itinerary allows passengers to visit several locations without being restricted by public bus timetables.
Longer Transfers around Santorini
Santorini is compact, so most journeys are relatively short compared with mainland long-distance transfers. Nevertheless, routes between opposite ends of the island can take significantly longer during the busy summer season because of traffic and road conditions.
Private transfers provide direct address-to-address travel and can be especially useful when moving between hotels or travelling with several suitcases.
Santorini Airport and Alternative Airports
Santorini has only one airport, and other nearby airports are located on separate Greek islands. Naxos, Paros, Mykonos and Heraklion all have airports, but reaching Santorini from them requires a ferry or another flight.
For this reason, these airports are not genuine road-transfer alternatives for Santorini. Travellers visiting the island should normally fly directly to JTR or reach Santorini by ferry from another Greek destination.
Useful Information for Arriving Passengers
Santorini Airport uses the IATA code JTR and is the island's only commercial airport. It is located on the eastern side of Santorini, close to Kamari and a short drive from Fira.
Public buses and taxis are available outside the terminal, while rental cars and pre-booked private transfers provide additional transportation options.
When booking a private airport transfer, passengers should provide the correct flight details, complete accommodation name or address, number of travellers and realistic luggage requirements. For cliffside hotels and pedestrian areas, precise property information is particularly useful.
With airport transfers and chauffeur service available from Santorini Airport, travellers can arrange their journey before arrival and travel directly to Fira, Oia, Imerovigli, Kamari, Perissa, Akrotiri or another destination across the island.
