Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Kalamata Airport
Kalamata International Airport “Captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos” (KLX) is the main airport serving Kalamata, Messinia and the south-western Peloponnese. Located around eight kilometres west of central Kalamata, the airport provides convenient access to the city as well as coastal resorts, villas, historic towns and holiday destinations throughout the region.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private airport transfers from Kalamata Airport to hotels, resorts, residences and regional destinations. Passengers can organise their transportation before travelling and continue directly from the terminal with a professional English-speaking driver rather than arranging their onward journey after arrival.
Private transfers are suitable for individual travellers, couples, families and larger groups. Chauffeur service and long-distance transfers can also be arranged for journeys beyond Kalamata to Costa Navarino, Pylos, Kardamyli, Stoupa and destinations farther across the Peloponnese.
Getting from Kalamata Airport to the City
Kalamata Airport is located close to the city and is connected by road with central Kalamata and surrounding destinations. Ground transportation options include public buses, taxis, rental cars and pre-booked private transfers.
The best option depends on the final destination, passenger number, amount of luggage and whether low cost or direct door-to-door convenience is the priority.
Bus from Kalamata Airport
KTEL bus services connect Kalamata Airport with Kalamata and other destinations in Messinia. The journey into the city is relatively short, making the bus an economical option for independent travellers with light luggage.
Passengers staying outside central Kalamata or continuing directly to a resort may need another bus, taxi or local connection after reaching the city.
A private airport transfer provides direct transportation from KLX to the exact hotel, villa or residence without changing services.
Taxis at Kalamata Airport
Taxis provide direct transportation from the airport to Kalamata and destinations throughout Messinia. They are a practical option for passengers who prefer to arrange transportation after landing.
A pre-booked private transfer provides greater certainty before the flight and can be especially convenient for families, groups and travellers continuing directly to a resort or villa outside Kalamata.
Rental Cars
Car rental is popular with visitors planning to explore Messinia and the Peloponnese independently. A vehicle provides flexibility for reaching beaches, villages, archaeological sites and accommodation in rural areas.
For passengers who prefer not to drive immediately after a flight, a chauffeur-driven transfer provides direct transportation without rental formalities, navigation or parking.
Why Pre-Book a Private Transfer from KLX?
Pre-booking allows the airport journey to be organised before arrival. The pickup, destination, passenger number and vehicle requirements can all be specified in advance.
This is particularly useful in Messinia because many visitors are staying outside Kalamata itself. Hotels, villas and resorts are distributed across the coast and countryside, often away from direct public transport routes.
Families and groups can reserve a vehicle with sufficient seating and luggage capacity rather than depending on the next available taxi.
For international visitors, travelling with an English-speaking driver can also make communication easier during the airport pickup and onward journey.
Transfers from Kalamata Airport to Kalamata
Kalamata is the principal city of Messinia and one of the most important urban centres in the southern Peloponnese. The city offers hotels, restaurants, beaches, a marina and a lively waterfront as well as convenient road connections to destinations throughout the region.
A private airport transfer provides direct transportation from KLX to a hotel, apartment, residence or marina in Kalamata. Because the airport is located only a few kilometres away, the journey is usually short.
Kalamata Airport Transfers to Costa Navarino
Costa Navarino is one of Greece’s best-known luxury resort destinations and a major transfer market from Kalamata Airport. Located west of Kalamata near the Ionian coast, the resort area is home to luxury hotels, golf courses, villas and leisure facilities.
A private transfer provides direct transportation from KLX to the resort without requiring passengers to arrange another local connection after reaching Kalamata.
For families, golfers and travellers carrying substantial luggage, a pre-booked vehicle can make the airport journey considerably easier.
Transfers from Kalamata Airport to Pylos
Pylos is a historic coastal town in western Messinia and a popular base for exploring Navarino Bay and nearby beaches.
A private airport transfer offers direct transportation from Kalamata Airport to hotels, guesthouses and residences in Pylos without requiring passengers to change buses in Kalamata.
Transfers to Kardamyli and Stoupa
Kardamyli and Stoupa are popular destinations in the Mani region south-east of Kalamata. Both are known for beaches, stone villages, mountain scenery and holiday accommodation.
The road follows the coast through a scenic but winding landscape. A private transfer provides direct transportation from KLX to the passenger’s hotel, villa or apartment and can be particularly convenient after an international flight.
Transfers to Koroni and Methoni
Koroni and Methoni are historic coastal towns in southern Messinia, known for castles, beaches and traditional accommodation.
Public transport connections can require careful timetable planning, while a private transfer provides direct door-to-door transportation from Kalamata Airport.
Chauffeur Service in Kalamata and Messinia
WelcomeTaxi chauffeur service can be arranged for sightseeing, business travel, events and personalised itineraries throughout Kalamata and Messinia.
The region offers beaches, wineries, archaeological sites, traditional villages and historic towns spread across a broad area. A private vehicle with driver allows travellers to explore according to their own schedule rather than relying entirely on public transport timetables.
Hourly chauffeur service can also be useful for restaurant visits, weddings, business appointments or itineraries involving several stops during the same day.
Transfers to Ancient Messene
Ancient Messene is one of the Peloponnese’s most important archaeological sites and lies north-west of Kalamata. It can be visited independently or as part of a personalised chauffeur itinerary.
A private vehicle is particularly convenient for travellers combining the archaeological site with other destinations in the Messinian countryside.
Regional Transfers across the Peloponnese
Kalamata Airport is a useful gateway for journeys throughout the southern and central Peloponnese. Private transfers can be arranged to coastal resorts, historic towns, rural hotels and other destinations where direct road transportation is more convenient than coordinating several public transport services.
Travellers whose final destination lies outside Kalamata can continue directly from the airport instead of entering the city simply to change transportation.
Long-Distance Transfers from Kalamata Airport
Private long-distance transfers provide an alternative to intercity buses when passengers prefer direct address-to-address transportation.
Journeys can be arranged from KLX to destinations farther across the Peloponnese, including Sparta, Monemvasia and other towns according to the required route and vehicle.
Athens can also be reached by road in roughly three hours under normal conditions. For passengers travelling between Kalamata and Athens hotels or airports, a private transfer provides direct service without changing between buses and local transport.
Kalamata Airport and Alternative Airports
Kalamata Airport is the natural airport for Messinia and the south-western Peloponnese, but its international route network is strongly seasonal. Athens International Airport is therefore an important alternative, especially outside the main summer season.
Araxos Airport near Patras is geographically closer than Athens and operates seasonal international services. It can be useful for some travellers visiting the western Peloponnese, although its flight network is much smaller.
Zakynthos and Kythira airports are relatively close in straight-line distance but are located on islands and require ferry connections, so they are not practical road-transfer alternatives for Kalamata.
Useful Information for Arriving Passengers
Kalamata International Airport “Captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos” uses the IATA code KLX and ICAO code LGKL. It is located approximately eight kilometres west of Kalamata and serves both domestic and seasonal international passenger flights.
KTEL bus services provide a public transport connection between the airport and Kalamata, with the journey taking around 20 minutes. Taxis and rental cars offer additional transportation options.
When booking a private airport transfer, passengers should provide the correct flight details, complete destination address, number of travellers and realistic luggage requirements. Exact property information is particularly useful for villas and rural accommodation.
With airport transfers, chauffeur service and long-distance private transportation available from Kalamata Airport, travellers can arrange their onward journey before arrival and continue directly to Kalamata, Costa Navarino, Pylos, Kardamyli, Stoupa or destinations farther across the Peloponnese.
