Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Lyon–Saint Exupéry Airport
Lyon–Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS) is the principal international airport serving Lyon and one of the main aviation gateways to the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. Located east of Lyon, the airport serves business travelers, city-break visitors and passengers continuing to destinations throughout the Rhône Valley and the French Alps.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private airport transfers from Lyon Airport to hotels, apartments, offices, railway stations and other destinations in Lyon. Chauffeur service and long-distance transportation can also be arranged for regional journeys, business itineraries and transfers to Alpine destinations.
Getting from Lyon Airport to the City Center
Passengers arriving at LYS have several options for reaching Lyon, including the Rhônexpress airport rail connection, public buses, taxis, rental cars and private transfers. The best choice depends on the final destination, group size, luggage and preferred level of convenience.
Rhônexpress connects the airport with Lyon Part-Dieu, the city’s principal railway and business district, in around 30 minutes. It also provides connections with Lyon’s wider public transport network. Local TCL buses offer another lower-cost option for passengers who do not mind making additional connections.
The airport also has its own TGV railway station, Lyon-Saint Exupéry TGV, making onward rail travel possible without first going into central Lyon. This can be useful for certain intercity journeys, although a private road transfer is often more convenient when the final destination is not close to a railway station.
Private Transfers to Central Lyon
A pre-booked private transfer offers direct transportation from the airport to your exact address. Popular destinations include Presqu’île, Vieux Lyon, Part-Dieu, Confluence, the Cité Internationale and hotels throughout the metropolitan area.
For travelers carrying several suitcases, families with children or groups requiring a larger vehicle, direct airport transportation can be considerably easier than changing between trains, trams, buses and metro services after a flight.
Private Transfer or Regular Airport Taxi?
Regular taxis are available at Lyon Airport and can be suitable for straightforward trips into the city. A pre-booked private transfer, however, provides greater predictability because the passenger details, destination and required vehicle category are arranged before arrival.
This is particularly useful for larger groups, travelers requiring vans or minibuses, passengers heading beyond Lyon and anyone arriving with substantial luggage. Instead of finding suitable transportation after landing, passengers have their journey organized in advance.
Private transfers are also well suited to destinations outside the normal urban taxi environment, where a longer journey may require advance planning and an appropriate vehicle.
Chauffeur Service in Lyon
Lyon is one of France’s major commercial and conference centers, with an economy spanning finance, technology, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and professional services. Chauffeur service can therefore be particularly useful for corporate travelers whose schedules involve several meetings or locations during the same day.
WelcomeTaxi can arrange chauffeur transportation between Lyon Airport, hotels, offices, exhibition venues, restaurants and business districts. Hourly or daily service provides additional flexibility when a traveler needs a vehicle available for a planned itinerary rather than a single point-to-point journey.
English-speaking drivers can also make transportation easier for international visitors who are unfamiliar with Lyon and need to coordinate several addresses or regional destinations.
Transfers to Lyon Part-Dieu and Perrache Stations
Lyon is a major railway hub, and passengers frequently combine flights with onward train journeys. Private transfers can be arranged between Lyon–Saint Exupéry Airport and both Lyon Part-Dieu and Lyon Perrache railway stations.
Although the Rhônexpress provides a convenient direct connection to Part-Dieu, a private vehicle can be preferable when passengers have significant luggage, are traveling as a family or group, or need to reach Perrache or another part of the city without additional transfers.
When connecting to a train, travelers should allow sufficient time for baggage collection, the journey from the airport and possible road traffic in the Lyon metropolitan area.
Long-Distance Transfers from Lyon Airport
Lyon’s location makes LYS a useful starting point for road journeys throughout southeastern and central-eastern France. Private long-distance transfers can be arranged to destinations including Grenoble, Annecy, Chambéry, Valence, Saint-Étienne, Bourg-en-Bresse and other cities across the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
Long-distance transportation is particularly useful when the destination does not have a convenient direct rail connection from the airport or when passengers prefer a door-to-door journey without changing trains or buses.
For itineraries involving several stops or destinations, chauffeur and daily transportation services can provide additional flexibility. These services can suit corporate travel, private tours, events and multi-day journeys around the region.
Lyon Airport Transfers to the French Alps
Lyon–Saint Exupéry is an important gateway for travelers heading toward the French Alps, especially during the winter ski season. Depending on the itinerary, passengers may continue toward resorts in Savoie, Haute-Savoie and Isère.
Scheduled coaches and seasonal shuttle services operate on selected Alpine routes, while private transfers provide direct transportation to a hotel, chalet or resort. Door-to-door service is especially convenient for families and groups traveling with skis, snowboards and substantial winter luggage.
Private transfers can be arranged toward Alpine areas accessed via Chambéry, Grenoble, Annecy and the major ski valleys. For longer mountain journeys, travel times can vary significantly according to weather, weekend traffic and conditions on the approach roads to ski resorts.
Planning a Winter Transfer
Saturday changeover periods during the ski season can create heavy traffic on routes from Lyon toward the Alps. Travelers connecting with departing flights should therefore leave generous additional time rather than relying on normal driving estimates.
When booking a winter transfer, passengers should provide accurate luggage information and indicate if they are carrying skis or snowboards so that an appropriately sized vehicle can be selected.
Transfers between Lyon and Grenoble
Grenoble is one of the most important regional destinations accessible from Lyon Airport. Travelers visit the city for business, universities, research institutions and onward travel into the Alps.
Public coach and rail connections are available, but a private transfer offers a direct airport-to-address journey without needing to coordinate departure schedules or additional local transportation after arriving in Grenoble.
Grenoble Alpes–Isère Airport (GNB) also serves the wider region, particularly seasonal leisure traffic. Depending on flight schedules and the final destination, travelers planning an Alpine itinerary may compare LYS and GNB when choosing their arrival airport.
Regional Transfers to Annecy and Chambéry
Annecy and Chambéry are also important destinations for travelers arriving through Lyon. Both cities provide access to surrounding lakes, mountain areas and Alpine resorts, making private road transportation useful for leisure and business travel alike.
A direct transfer avoids the need to travel first into central Lyon and then connect with regional transport. This is especially valuable for passengers arriving in groups or carrying sports equipment.
Chambéry Airport (CMF) is another regional gateway, with a strong seasonal focus on Alpine travel. For some ski destinations, travelers may therefore encounter Lyon, Chambéry, Grenoble or Geneva as alternative arrival airports.
Transfers between Lyon and Geneva
Geneva Airport (GVA) is a major international gateway on the opposite side of the French Alps and can be relevant to travelers combining destinations in eastern France and Switzerland. Private long-distance transportation between the Lyon region and Geneva can be arranged for itineraries where a direct road journey is more practical than several public transport connections.
Cross-border journeys require sufficient travel time, particularly when connecting to a flight. Traffic around Lyon, Geneva and Alpine motorway corridors can vary considerably depending on the day and season.
Transportation for Families and Groups
Families and groups arriving at Lyon Airport can pre-book vehicles according to their passenger and luggage requirements. Depending on group size, transportation may be arranged with sedans, SUVs, vans, minibuses or larger vehicles.
Keeping a group together in one appropriately sized vehicle is often easier than splitting passengers between several taxis. This is particularly useful for airport-to-resort journeys, weddings, conferences, corporate groups and ski trips with additional equipment.
Useful Travel Information for LYS Arrivals
Lyon–Saint Exupéry Airport is connected directly to both road and rail networks, so passengers have several ways to continue their journey. Travelers heading into central Lyon can choose between public transport and road transportation, while those traveling farther into the region may benefit from the airport’s TGV station, intercity coaches or a private vehicle.
When booking a private transfer, provide the complete destination address, flight details, passenger count and luggage requirements. For Alpine accommodation, the exact resort and property name are important because similarly named hotels and chalets may be located in different villages.
Travel times around Lyon can increase during weekday commuter periods, while journeys toward the mountains are particularly sensitive to seasonal traffic and winter weather. Allowing additional time is advisable whenever a transfer connects with an onward flight, train or scheduled event.
Book a Private Transfer from Lyon Airport
WelcomeTaxi provides international private transfer and chauffeur services from Lyon–Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS) to central Lyon and destinations throughout the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
Whether you need a straightforward airport transfer to a Lyon hotel, chauffeur transportation for business appointments, a transfer to Grenoble or Annecy, or a long-distance journey to the French Alps, pre-booking allows your ground transportation to be arranged before arrival in France.
