Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Santiago Airport

Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL), commonly known as Santiago Airport, is the main international gateway to Santiago, Chile. It serves the capital city and the wider Metropolitan Region, welcoming business travelers, tourists, families, conference guests and passengers connecting to other destinations across the country. For many visitors, SCL is the first point of arrival in Chile, whether they are heading to central Santiago, the financial district, a hotel in Las Condes, a ski resort in the Andes or the wine regions surrounding the capital.

WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers from Santiago Airport to hotels, private addresses, business districts, resorts, wineries and regional destinations. Instead of arranging transportation after landing, passengers can organize a private car with driver in advance, with the route, pickup time, passenger count and luggage requirements already confirmed. This makes the arrival process easier and more predictable, especially after a long international flight.

Santiago is a large and busy city, and airport travel times can vary depending on traffic, time of day and the exact destination. A transfer from SCL to central Santiago, Providencia, Las Condes, Vitacura, Bellavista or Ñuñoa should be planned carefully, particularly during commuting hours. A pre-booked airport transfer helps travelers avoid uncertainty and start their stay in Chile with a direct, comfortable ride.

Transportation Options from Santiago Airport to the City

Passengers arriving at Santiago Airport have several transport options. Regular taxis, airport transfer desks, ride-hailing services, buses and car rental are available. Each option can be useful in certain situations, but not all of them offer the same level of convenience for international visitors, families or travelers with tight schedules.

Airport buses connect SCL with parts of the city and can be a budget-friendly option for solo travelers with light luggage. However, buses usually require passengers to continue by metro, taxi or another local service to reach the final hotel or address. This may be less convenient after a long flight, during late arrivals or when traveling with children, ski equipment or several suitcases.

Regular taxis and app-based rides are widely used in Santiago. They can work well for simple city trips, but passengers still need to manage the pickup point, destination details, luggage space and waiting time on arrival. At a busy international airport, this can be inconvenient if the traveler is unfamiliar with the terminal layout or does not speak Spanish comfortably.

Car rental is available at the airport and may suit travelers planning a self-drive itinerary outside the city. However, for visitors staying mainly in Santiago, driving is often unnecessary. Traffic, parking, toll roads and navigation can make self-driving less attractive, especially for short stays or business trips. For most travelers who simply need a direct ride to a hotel, office, residence or resort, a pre-booked private transfer is a more practical solution.

Private Airport Transfers from SCL to Santiago Hotels and Districts

WelcomeTaxi can arrange private airport transfers from Santiago Airport to all major areas of the city. Popular destinations include Santiago Centro, Providencia, Las Condes, Vitacura, Bellavista, Ñuñoa, Recoleta, El Golf, Barrio Italia and the financial districts in the eastern part of the city. Transfers can also be arranged to private residences, serviced apartments, embassies, hospitals, universities and conference venues.

For business travelers, a pre-booked transfer is useful because meetings, hotel check-ins and event schedules often depend on reliable timing. Santiago is an important commercial center in South America, and many visitors arrive for corporate meetings, mining, finance, technology, trade events and government-related travel. Having airport transportation arranged in advance helps reduce the risk of delays after arrival.

For leisure travelers, a private transfer provides a comfortable start to a trip that may include Santiago, Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, the Andes, wine valleys or Patagonia connections. Families and small groups can book a vehicle suitable for the number of passengers and luggage. This is especially important when traveling with large suitcases, ski bags, sports equipment or cruise luggage.

Chauffeur Service in Santiago

WelcomeTaxi also offers chauffeur service in Santiago for travelers who need a private car with driver for several hours or a full day. This service is useful for business meetings, city visits, shopping, restaurant transfers, corporate roadshows, hotel-to-office transportation and flexible itineraries with multiple stops. Instead of arranging separate rides throughout the day, passengers can keep a dedicated vehicle and driver for the required period.

Santiago is spread across a large metropolitan area, and travel between districts can take time. A chauffeur service can be especially convenient for visitors moving between Las Condes, Vitacura, Providencia, the historic center, business offices and private appointments. It also works well for travelers attending conferences, exhibitions or events where punctuality matters.

For leisure visitors, chauffeur service can be used for city sightseeing, shopping areas, cultural attractions and day trips around the capital. Popular local routes may include the historic center, Cerro San Cristóbal area, modern eastern districts and selected viewpoints. WelcomeTaxi focuses on private transportation and chauffeur-driven travel; guiding services, attraction tickets and tour arrangements should be organized separately where required. English-speaking drivers can be requested where available, helping international guests communicate clearly about timing, routing and pickup points.

Transfers from Santiago Airport to Ski Resorts

Santiago is one of the most convenient gateways to Chile’s ski areas in the Andes. During the winter season, many travelers arrive at SCL and continue directly to mountain resorts such as Valle Nevado, La Parva, El Colorado or Farellones. These transfers require more planning than a standard city ride because of mountain roads, weather conditions, luggage, ski equipment and travel time.

A pre-booked private transfer is often the best option for ski passengers. It allows the vehicle to be selected according to passenger count, suitcases and ski bags. It also avoids the need to negotiate transportation at the airport or coordinate multiple vehicles for a group. For mountain transfers, passengers should provide accurate luggage details and allow realistic travel time, especially during weekends, holidays or snowy conditions.

Long-Distance Transfers from Santiago

Santiago is a natural starting point for long-distance transfers across central Chile. WelcomeTaxi can arrange private transfers from Santiago Airport or the city to regional destinations such as Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, Casablanca Valley, Maipo Valley, Colchagua Valley, San Antonio, Rancagua, Santa Cruz, Portillo and other locations, depending on the itinerary and vehicle availability.

Long-distance transfers are useful for travelers who prefer direct door-to-door transportation instead of combining buses, local taxis and rental cars. A private transfer can be a practical choice for wine trips, cruise connections, ski holidays, business visits, family travel and regional itineraries. It is also helpful when passengers have luggage or need to reach a specific hotel, winery, port, resort or private address at a planned time.

One of the most common regional routes is from Santiago to Valparaíso or Viña del Mar on the Pacific coast. These destinations are popular for leisure travel, cruise connections and day trips. Wine regions such as Casablanca, Maipo and Colchagua are also frequently visited from Santiago. For these routes, a chauffeur service or long-distance private transfer can provide a more comfortable and flexible experience than standard public transport.

Why Pre-Book a Santiago Airport Transfer?

Pre-booking an airport transfer from Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport gives travelers a more predictable arrival experience. The main advantage is that the transportation is arranged before the flight, with the destination, passenger details and luggage requirements already known. This is especially valuable for passengers arriving from long-haul flights, families with children, business travelers or guests heading directly to a resort, winery or cruise port.

A regular taxi or ride-hailing service can be convenient, but it may not always provide the right vehicle size or the easiest airport pickup experience. Passengers may need to wait, confirm the exact meeting point, explain the destination or arrange a larger vehicle at the last moment. With a private transfer, these details are handled in advance.

For corporate travel, pre-booked transfers also make coordination easier. Travel managers, assistants and event organizers can arrange airport pickups for guests arriving at different times, choosing suitable vehicles and destinations in advance. For leisure travelers, the benefit is simple: a smoother, more comfortable start to a trip in Chile.

Local Transportation Specifics in Santiago

Santiago has an extensive road network, but traffic can be heavy during peak hours. Travel times between the airport and the eastern districts may vary, especially during weekday mornings and evenings. Passengers should plan extra time for departures from areas such as Las Condes, Vitacura, Providencia and the city center, particularly for international flights.

The city also has toll roads and expressways, which can affect route planning. A professional local driver can choose an appropriate route based on the time of day and destination. For visitors unfamiliar with Santiago, this is one of the reasons why a private car with driver can be more convenient than renting a car or relying on multiple separate rides.

Spanish is the main language in Chile, and while many people in hotels and tourism services speak some English, communication with drivers may vary. WelcomeTaxi can request English-speaking drivers where available, which is useful for international passengers who need help with pickup details, hotel names, flight delays or route coordination.

Useful Travel Information for SCL Passengers

When booking a private transfer from Santiago Airport, passengers should provide the flight number, arrival date, pickup time, destination address, phone number, number of passengers and luggage details. If the destination is a hotel, the full hotel name is usually enough. For private residences, compounds, wineries or mountain resorts, a complete address and any additional access instructions are helpful.

For departure transfers to SCL, pickup time should be planned with enough margin for traffic, check-in and security procedures. Santiago is a large city, and travel time from the eastern districts or coastal destinations can vary. For long-distance transfers to the airport, such as from Valparaíso, Viña del Mar or wine regions, it is especially important to allow sufficient time.

WelcomeTaxi offers an international private transfer and chauffeur service for travelers who want a reliable alternative to regular taxis and last-minute ride arrangements. Whether the journey is a simple airport-to-hotel transfer, an hourly chauffeur booking in Santiago, a ski resort transfer or a long-distance route across central Chile, advance planning helps make the trip more comfortable, efficient and stress-free.
