Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Private Airport Transfers from Sphinx International Airport to Giza and Cairo

Sphinx International Airport (SPX) is one of the key airports serving the Greater Cairo region in Egypt. Located on the western side of the metropolitan area, near Giza and the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road, the airport is especially convenient for travelers heading to the Pyramids of Giza, the Grand Egyptian Museum area, 6th of October City, Sheikh Zayed City, and western Cairo suburbs.

Compared with Cairo International Airport, which is located on the eastern side of the city, Sphinx Airport can be a more practical arrival point for passengers staying in Giza or traveling onward toward western destinations. The airport is also useful for leisure travelers who want easier access to the Pyramids area, tour groups arriving for sightseeing programs, and residents or business visitors with appointments in western Greater Cairo.

WelcomeTaxi provides private airport transfers, chauffeur service, and long-distance transfers from Sphinx International Airport with professional local drivers and vehicles suitable for different travel needs. Whether you are arriving for a short visit to Giza, a business trip to 6th of October City, a family holiday in Cairo, or an onward journey to Alexandria or another Egyptian destination, a pre-booked transfer from SPX helps make the arrival experience smoother and more predictable.

Getting from Sphinx Airport to Giza, Cairo, and Nearby Areas

Sphinx International Airport is positioned west of central Cairo and close to several important destinations in Giza Governorate. It is often a convenient airport for hotels near the Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Sheikh Zayed City, 6th of October City, Smart Village, and desert-road resorts or residential compounds. For these areas, the route from SPX can be considerably simpler than crossing Cairo from the eastern airport side.

Travel time from Sphinx Airport depends on the destination, traffic, time of day, and exact pickup or drop-off point. Giza, Sheikh Zayed City, and 6th of October City are usually among the most natural transfer directions from SPX. Central Cairo, Zamalek, Garden City, Maadi, Heliopolis, and New Cairo are also reachable by private transfer, but the journey may involve crossing large parts of the city and should be planned with extra time.

For visitors unfamiliar with Cairo’s geography, it is important to understand that Greater Cairo is a large urban area with very different districts. A hotel described simply as “Cairo” may actually be in Giza, New Cairo, Downtown Cairo, Maadi, or near the airport. Pre-booking a transfer allows the route to be checked in advance and helps avoid confusion on arrival.

Transportation Options from Sphinx International Airport

Private Airport Transfers

A private airport transfer is the most convenient option for many passengers arriving at Sphinx International Airport. The service is arranged before your flight, the destination is confirmed in advance, and the vehicle is selected according to the number of passengers and luggage. This is especially useful at a smaller airport where transport availability may be less predictable than at a major international hub.

With a pre-booked transfer, you do not need to search for a taxi after landing or negotiate the route and fare at the terminal. Your driver receives the booking details in advance and takes you directly to your hotel, residence, office, or onward destination. For families, groups, business travelers, and first-time visitors to Egypt, this provides a much easier start to the trip.

Regular Taxis

Regular taxis may be available at or near the airport, but the experience can vary depending on the time of arrival, passenger demand, and destination. Travelers who are familiar with Egypt and speak some Arabic may be comfortable arranging a taxi on the spot. However, visitors arriving for the first time may prefer not to negotiate pricing, explain a detailed address, or manage airport transport after a flight.

A pre-booked private transfer is usually a better choice when you need a clear price structure, a suitable vehicle, and a driver who already knows where you are going. This is particularly relevant for transfers to private compounds, hotels near the Pyramids, desert-road addresses, conference venues, and long-distance destinations.

Ride-Hailing Services

Ride-hailing apps may operate in the wider Cairo and Giza area, but using them from an airport still requires mobile internet, app access, pickup coordination, and communication with the driver. At smaller or less familiar airport terminals, pickup points can sometimes be confusing, especially for international passengers without a local SIM card or clear knowledge of the area.

Ride-hailing can be useful for short city trips, but it may not be ideal for airport arrivals with luggage, groups, children, or a tight schedule. A private airport transfer from SPX gives you a more structured service with the route and vehicle arranged in advance.

Public Transportation

Public transportation is generally less convenient for arrivals at Sphinx International Airport, particularly for travelers with luggage or those heading to hotels, resorts, compounds, or tourist landmarks. Depending on the destination, using public transport may require several changes, additional taxi rides, and local knowledge.

For most international visitors, a direct private transfer is the simpler option. It avoids the need to work out local connections after arrival and provides door-to-door travel from the airport to the exact address.

Transfers from Sphinx Airport to the Pyramids and Giza Hotels

One of the main advantages of Sphinx International Airport is its position for travel to Giza and the Pyramids area. Many visitors choose accommodation near the Pyramids of Giza, the Grand Egyptian Museum, or major tour starting points on the western side of the city. For these passengers, SPX can be a convenient alternative to Cairo International Airport.

Private transfers from Sphinx Airport to Giza are suitable for hotel arrivals, sightseeing itineraries, family holidays, and tour programs. Instead of crossing the full metropolitan area from east to west, travelers can often reach western Cairo and Giza destinations more directly. This is particularly helpful after evening flights or when arriving with children, elderly passengers, or a large amount of luggage.

Popular routes from SPX include transfers to Giza hotels, the Pyramids area, the Grand Egyptian Museum area, Sheikh Zayed City, 6th of October City, Smart Village, and western residential compounds. WelcomeTaxi can also arrange transfers from Sphinx Airport to central Cairo, Nile-side hotels, Maadi, New Cairo, Heliopolis, and other parts of the capital region.

Chauffeur Service from Sphinx Airport

WelcomeTaxi also offers chauffeur service from Sphinx International Airport for travelers who need flexible transportation beyond a single airport transfer. An hourly chauffeur-driven car can be useful for sightseeing in Giza, business meetings in 6th of October City, visits to the Grand Egyptian Museum, hotel inspections, diplomatic appointments, or multi-stop itineraries across Cairo and Giza.

Chauffeur service is particularly practical in the Cairo area because distances can be long and traffic conditions may change quickly. Instead of booking separate taxis between every stop, you can have a private vehicle and driver available for the agreed period. This makes it easier to manage meetings, tours, shopping stops, restaurant visits, or family plans without repeatedly arranging new transport.

For business travelers, a chauffeur service creates a more professional and efficient schedule. For leisure visitors, it offers a comfortable way to explore Giza, Cairo, and nearby attractions with less stress. English-speaking drivers help make coordination easier for international passengers, especially when destinations are not simple tourist landmarks or when the itinerary includes several stops.

Long-Distance Transfers from Sphinx International Airport

Sphinx International Airport is located near the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road, which makes it a practical starting point for selected long-distance transfers. Travelers arriving at SPX may continue directly to Alexandria, the North Coast, Fayoum, Ain Sokhna, or other destinations without first going into central Cairo.

Private long-distance transfers are useful when you want a direct route from the airport to a resort, city, business site, private residence, or regional destination. They are also convenient for families, groups, and travelers with luggage who prefer not to combine several modes of transport after landing.

For longer journeys, the choice of vehicle becomes important. A comfortable sedan, SUV, van, or minibus can be arranged depending on the group size, baggage, and route. Pre-booking gives you time to choose the right vehicle class and confirm details such as stops, timing, and destination address before the trip begins.

Why Pre-Book a Transfer from Sphinx Airport?

Pre-booking a transfer from Sphinx International Airport helps avoid uncertainty at the terminal. Although SPX is an important airport for Giza and western Greater Cairo, it is smaller than Cairo International Airport and may have fewer spontaneous transport options at certain times. Having a private transfer arranged in advance is especially valuable for evening arrivals, early morning flights, families, business travelers, and larger groups.

A pre-booked service also avoids the need to negotiate a fare after arrival. The pickup details, destination, route, and vehicle type are handled before the journey, so you can leave the airport and go directly to your hotel or address. This is one of the main reasons international travelers choose private airport transfers instead of regular taxis.

Another advantage is luggage and group planning. If you are traveling with several suitcases, sports equipment, baby strollers, or a group of passengers, a standard taxi may not be suitable. WelcomeTaxi can help arrange an appropriate vehicle class for your transfer from SPX to Giza, Cairo, or a long-distance destination.

Local Travel Tips for Arriving at SPX

When booking a transfer from Sphinx International Airport, provide the full destination address, hotel name, passenger count, luggage details, and flight information. For hotels near the Pyramids, it is helpful to include the exact property name, as several hotels and guesthouses may have similar names or be located in nearby streets.

If your destination is a residential compound, villa, business park, or construction area, adding a map pin or clear entrance instructions can make the transfer smoother. In western Greater Cairo, many addresses are spread across large districts, and the exact gate or building entrance can matter.

Travelers should also consider neighboring airports when planning their route. Cairo International Airport (CAI) remains the main airport for the capital and is located on the eastern side of the city. Capital International Airport (CCE) serves the New Administrative Capital area. Sphinx International Airport (SPX), by contrast, is especially relevant for Giza and western Greater Cairo, making it a useful airport for Pyramids-area stays and west-side transfers.
