Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Salzburg Airport
Salzburg Airport W. A. Mozart (SZG) is the main airport serving Salzburg and one of the principal gateways to western Austria and the surrounding Alpine region. Located only a few kilometres from Salzburg city centre, it provides convenient access not only to the city itself but also to holiday resorts, mountain destinations and neighbouring parts of Germany.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers from Salzburg Airport for leisure travellers, families, business passengers and groups. Instead of arranging onward transport after landing, you can organise a private vehicle in advance and travel directly from the airport to your hotel, apartment, meeting venue or regional destination.
Getting from Salzburg Airport to the City Centre
Salzburg Airport is approximately 4 km west of the city centre, making the airport-to-city journey relatively short. Several transportation options are available, including public buses, taxis, rental cars and pre-booked private transfers.
Public Transport from Salzburg Airport
Public buses connect the airport with central Salzburg. Trolleybus line 2 operates between Salzburg Airport and Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, the city's main railway station, while bus line 10 provides a connection towards the city centre. Typical journey times are around 15 to 25 minutes, depending on the route, traffic and destination.
Public transport can be an economical choice for travellers with light luggage who are staying near a convenient stop. Salzburg also has an extensive urban trolleybus and bus network, making it relatively easy to continue around the city after arrival.
Taxi from Salzburg Airport
Taxis are available outside the airport terminal and provide direct transportation to Salzburg hotels and addresses. They can be practical for spontaneous journeys into the city, particularly when there is no need to arrange a specific vehicle in advance.
For passengers travelling with several suitcases, children, a larger group or a more complex itinerary, however, arranging the required vehicle before arrival can be more convenient than relying on the vehicles available at the taxi rank.
Car Rental
Several car rental companies operate at Salzburg Airport, with rental offices located close to the terminal. Renting a car can be useful for travellers planning an independent driving holiday through Austria or the Alps.
It may be less attractive for visitors whose main destination is central Salzburg. Many attractions in Salzburg are accessible on foot or by public transport, while parking in the historic central area is limited. A private transfer therefore allows passengers to reach their accommodation without needing to collect, park or later return a rental vehicle.
Private Salzburg Airport Transfers
A pre-booked airport transfer offers a straightforward door-to-door journey from SZG. Your trip can be arranged before your flight, with the vehicle type chosen according to the number of passengers and the amount of luggage.
This can be especially useful during Salzburg's busy winter season, for families carrying ski equipment, passengers arriving for festivals or events, and travellers continuing beyond the city. Private transfers also avoid the need to change between airport buses, railway services and local transport while carrying luggage.
English-speaking drivers make communication easier for international visitors who may not speak German. Whether the destination is a central Salzburg hotel, a private residence or a resort outside the city, a pre-arranged transfer provides a single journey from the airport to the required address.
Transfers from Salzburg Airport to Ski Resorts and the Alps
Salzburg Airport is an important arrival point for holidays in the Austrian Alps. Many passengers landing at SZG continue directly to ski resorts and mountain towns rather than staying in Salzburg itself.
Private transfers can be arranged to destinations throughout the Salzburg region and beyond, including areas such as Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Zell am See, Kaprun, Obertauern, Flachau, Wagrain and other Alpine resorts. A direct vehicle is particularly convenient when travelling with skis, snowboards, large suitcases or children.
Road conditions and journey times in mountain areas can vary considerably with weather, traffic and seasonal demand. Pre-booking gives travellers the opportunity to choose a suitable vehicle and organise the journey before arriving at the airport, instead of searching for onward transportation after landing.
Chauffeur Service in Salzburg
WelcomeTaxi also offers chauffeur service for travellers who need a vehicle and professional driver beyond a simple airport-to-hotel transfer. Chauffeur hire can be suitable for business meetings, corporate visits, events, sightseeing programmes and journeys involving several stops.
Salzburg is a compact city, but many popular destinations lie outside the historic centre. A chauffeur-driven vehicle can therefore be useful for itineraries combining Salzburg with locations in the surrounding countryside or neighbouring regions. It also provides flexibility for travellers who prefer private transportation rather than coordinating several separate taxi journeys.
Long-Distance Transfers from Salzburg Airport
Salzburg's location close to the German border makes SZG convenient for journeys in more than one country. Long-distance transfers can connect the airport with destinations elsewhere in Austria as well as locations in southern Germany and the wider Alpine region.
Possible journeys include transfers towards Munich, the Bavarian Alps, Innsbruck and other cities or resorts where a direct road transfer is more convenient for a particular itinerary. Long-distance private transportation is especially useful for groups, families and travellers with substantial luggage who would otherwise need to combine buses, trains and local taxis.
Munich Airport (MUC) is also an important alternative airport for some visitors to Salzburg. Travellers arriving there can continue to Salzburg by rail, coach, rental car or private transfer. For international itineraries where flight schedules make MUC more convenient than SZG, a pre-booked long-distance transfer provides a direct connection to Salzburg without changing transport en route.
Why Pre-Book Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?
For the short journey from Salzburg Airport to the city centre, both taxis and private transfers are practical options. The advantages of pre-booking become more noticeable when passengers have specific requirements or are travelling farther from Salzburg.
Booking in advance allows the appropriate vehicle category to be arranged before arrival. This is useful for families, groups, passengers with multiple suitcases and travellers carrying ski equipment. It also means that a regional or long-distance journey has already been organised rather than having to negotiate onward transport at the airport.
For business travel, chauffeur service provides a more structured solution for airport pickups, meetings and multi-stop schedules. For leisure travel, the same approach can simplify a holiday itinerary by connecting the airport directly with accommodation in Salzburg or an Alpine resort.
Useful Information for Your Arrival in Salzburg
Salzburg Airport has direct road access to the regional motorway network, including connections towards Vienna, southern Austria and Munich. This location makes it particularly convenient for private road transfers across the Salzburg region and into neighbouring Germany.
Travellers staying overnight in the Province of Salzburg should also be aware of the Salzburg Guest Mobility Ticket. Eligible overnight guests can use public transportation within the province during their stay, making local buses and trains useful after reaching their accommodation.
For airport arrival itself, the best transport choice depends on your destination, group size, luggage and travel plans. Public buses work well for straightforward journeys into central Salzburg, taxis offer convenient on-demand transport, and rental cars suit independent touring. For door-to-door travel, Alpine resort transfers, chauffeur hire or long-distance journeys, a pre-booked WelcomeTaxi transfer provides a convenient way to continue directly from Salzburg Airport (SZG).
