Arriving at Tbilisi International Airport (TBS) in Georgia is the main gateway to Tbilisi and one of the most convenient starting points for exploring the country. WelcomeTaxi offers private airport transfers, chauffeur service, and long-distance transfers with pre-booked vehicles and English-speaking drivers.
Travel directly from TBS to hotels, apartments, business addresses, ski resorts, wine regions, or other Georgian cities. The smaller Natakhtari Airfield (UGS) also serves the Tbilisi area for selected domestic flights, but Tbilisi Airport remains the key airport for international arrivals.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Tbilisi International Airport
Tbilisi International Airport (TBS), officially Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport, is the main international airport serving Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Located southeast of the city center, it handles most international air traffic to and from Georgia and is the usual arrival point for business travelers, tourists, families, tour groups, and passengers continuing to other regions of the country.
For many visitors, Tbilisi Airport is not only the gateway to the capital but also the starting point for longer journeys across Georgia. Popular onward destinations include Mtskheta, Kazbegi, Gudauri, Kakheti, Borjomi, Kutaisi, Batumi, Stepantsminda, Signagi, Telavi, and other towns, wine regions, mountain resorts, and historical sites. Because public transport connections are limited for many of these routes, a pre-booked private transfer is often the most practical way to continue the trip after landing.
Transportation Options from Tbilisi Airport to the City
Passengers arriving at Tbilisi Airport have several ways to reach the city center. The best option depends on arrival time, luggage, group size, budget, and the level of comfort required.
Regular Taxi from Tbilisi Airport
Regular taxis are available at the airport, and ride-hailing apps may also operate in the city. For travelers familiar with local conditions, this can be a simple option for short rides into central Tbilisi. However, the experience may vary depending on vehicle availability, communication with the driver, luggage capacity, payment method, and demand at the time of arrival.
For first-time visitors, late-night arrivals, families with children, or passengers carrying ski equipment or multiple suitcases, arranging transport on the spot may be less convenient. A pre-booked airport transfer removes the need to negotiate, search for a suitable vehicle, or explain the route after a long flight.
Public Transport from TBS
Public transport can be a budget-friendly way to travel between Tbilisi Airport and the city, but it is not always the most convenient solution for every passenger. Buses may require waiting time, fixed stops, and additional walking or taxi rides to reach a hotel or apartment. This can be inconvenient with heavy luggage, after a night flight, or when traveling with children or a larger group.
There is also a railway station near the airport, but airport rail service is limited and does not offer the same flexibility as a door-to-door transfer. For passengers whose accommodation is not close to a transport stop, a private car or van usually provides a smoother arrival experience.
Car Rental at Tbilisi Airport
Car rental is available for travelers who want to drive independently around Georgia. This may be suitable for experienced drivers planning a longer itinerary. However, driving in and around Tbilisi can be challenging for visitors who are not used to local traffic, mountain roads, parking conditions, or regional routes.
For many travelers, hiring a car with a professional driver is a more comfortable alternative. It allows passengers to relax, enjoy the scenery, and avoid navigation, parking, and road-condition concerns.
Private Airport Transfers from TBS to Tbilisi
A private transfer from Tbilisi Airport is a door-to-door service arranged in advance. Your driver meets you at the airport, helps with luggage, and takes you directly to your destination without unnecessary stops. This is especially useful when arriving late at night, traveling with children, carrying extra luggage, or visiting Georgia for the first time.
WelcomeTaxi provides private airport transfers from TBS to hotels, apartments, offices, embassies, conference venues, private addresses, and tourist areas in Tbilisi. Vehicles can be selected according to passenger number, luggage amount, and required comfort level, from standard sedans to business cars, vans, and minibuses for larger groups.
Unlike a regular taxi, a pre-booked transfer gives you a confirmed vehicle, a clear pickup plan, and a fixed service arrangement before you arrive. This is useful in a destination where local traffic, language barriers, and variable taxi standards may otherwise make the first part of the trip less predictable.
Chauffeur Service in Tbilisi
WelcomeTaxi also offers chauffeur service in Tbilisi for travelers who need more than a simple airport pickup. A chauffeured car can be arranged for business meetings, city travel, diplomatic visits, conferences, shopping trips, restaurant transfers, private events, or sightseeing with multiple stops.
Hourly chauffeur service is a good solution when you need a driver to remain available during the day. Instead of booking several separate taxi rides, you can keep the same vehicle and driver for a fixed period. This is convenient for business travelers with meetings in different parts of the city or visitors who want to explore Tbilisi at a comfortable pace.
Popular places to visit in and around Tbilisi include the Old Town, Narikala Fortress, Rustaveli Avenue, Freedom Square, the sulfur baths district, Mtatsminda, Turtle Lake, and nearby Mtskheta. A private chauffeured car makes it easier to connect these locations without depending on public transport or arranging a new ride after every stop.
Long-Distance Transfers from Tbilisi Airport
Tbilisi Airport is a common starting point for long-distance transfers across Georgia. Many travelers arrive at TBS and continue directly to mountain resorts, wine regions, spa towns, historical areas, or other cities. In these cases, a pre-booked transfer is often more comfortable and reliable than arranging transport after arrival.
Popular long-distance routes from Tbilisi Airport include transfers to Gudauri, Kazbegi, Stepantsminda, Mtskheta, Signagi, Telavi, Borjomi, Bakuriani, Kutaisi, Batumi, Gori, Akhaltsikhe, and other destinations. Depending on the season and route, road conditions may vary, especially in mountain areas. Booking a suitable vehicle in advance is important for comfort and safety.
Private transfers are particularly useful for ski trips to Gudauri or Bakuriani, wine tours in Kakheti, family holidays, small group travel, and itineraries with several stops. Instead of adapting your schedule to buses or shared transport, you travel directly according to your own arrival time and route.
Regional Travel and Multi-City Routes in Georgia
Georgia is a compact but geographically diverse country. From Tbilisi, travelers can reach wine valleys, monasteries, mountain roads, Black Sea resorts, cave towns, and national parks. While some routes are possible by bus or shared minibus, these services may not be ideal for visitors with luggage, limited time, or specific hotel locations.
WelcomeTaxi can arrange private intercity transfers and chauffeur-driven trips from Tbilisi Airport or from Tbilisi city. This can include direct transfers, round trips, hourly bookings, or multi-day transport plans. For example, travelers may need a transfer from TBS to a hotel in Tbilisi, then a day trip to Mtskheta, followed by a long-distance transfer to Kazbegi or Kakheti.
For international visitors, a professionally arranged transfer is also useful because it keeps the transport part of the trip predictable. Passengers know who will meet them, what type of vehicle is expected, and how the journey is organized before they arrive in Georgia.
Why Choose a Pre-Booked Transfer Instead of a Regular Taxi?
A regular taxi may be enough for a short city ride, but a pre-booked airport transfer provides a more structured and comfortable service. This is important after a flight, when passengers may be tired, carrying luggage, or arriving in an unfamiliar country.
With WelcomeTaxi, your transfer is arranged before arrival. The route, date, time, passenger number, luggage details, and vehicle class are known in advance. This helps avoid misunderstandings at the airport and makes the journey smoother from the first moment in Tbilisi.
Pre-booked transfers are especially useful for:
- late-night and early-morning arrivals;
- families with children;
- business travelers who need punctual service;
- groups requiring vans or minibuses;
- passengers with ski equipment or extra luggage;
- long-distance routes outside Tbilisi;
- travelers who prefer English-speaking drivers.
The main advantage is predictability. Instead of looking for transport after landing, you can go directly from the arrivals area to your vehicle and continue to your destination.
Local Transportation Specifics in Tbilisi
Tbilisi is a lively city with a mix of historic streets, modern districts, hills, narrow roads, busy avenues, and changing traffic conditions. Travel time from the airport to the city center can vary depending on the time of day, roadworks, and traffic around central areas such as Freedom Square, Rustaveli Avenue, Avlabari, Vake, Saburtalo, and the Old Town.
Some hotels and apartments are located on narrow streets or in hilly neighborhoods where navigation and parking can be more complicated. A local professional driver can help make the arrival easier, especially if the final address is inside the old part of the city or not clearly marked.
For regional trips, road conditions may differ significantly from one route to another. Mountain roads, winter weather, rural areas, and longer distances require more planning than a simple city ride. Choosing the right vehicle class and arranging the trip in advance helps avoid last-minute problems.
Useful Travel Information for Arrivals at TBS
When booking an airport transfer from Tbilisi International Airport, it is helpful to provide your flight number, arrival time, destination address, passenger count, luggage amount, and any special requirements such as child seats or extra space for equipment. For long-distance transfers, the route and planned stops should be shared in advance so the correct vehicle and timing can be arranged.
For hotel pickups in Tbilisi, it is best to provide the exact hotel name and address. For apartment rentals or private addresses, clear entrance details can help the driver find the pickup point quickly. If the trip continues to another region of Georgia, the driver should know whether the destination is a hotel, guesthouse, resort, border point, or private residence.
Travelers arriving at TBS can use WelcomeTaxi for simple airport transfers, business chauffeur service, city-to-city travel, ski resort transfers, wine region trips, and multi-day private transportation. Whether you are visiting Georgia for tourism, work, family travel, or a special event, a pre-booked private transfer offers a comfortable and reliable start to your journey.
