Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service in Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is one of Croatia's best-known destinations, combining a historic walled centre with the dramatic coastline of the southern Adriatic. Visitors arrive for city breaks, cruises, beach holidays, private villas and longer journeys through Croatia and neighbouring Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its geography makes reliable ground transportation particularly useful: accommodation is spread across several districts, the terrain is often steep, and many regional destinations require travel by road.

WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers, airport transportation and chauffeur service in Dubrovnik for individual travellers, families and groups. Whether you need a ride from the airport to your hotel, transportation to the cruise port or a private long-distance transfer across the region, arranging your vehicle in advance makes the journey easier to plan.

Dubrovnik Airport Transfers

Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) is the main airport serving the city and the surrounding part of southern Croatia. It is located at Čilipi, approximately 20 kilometres southeast of Dubrovnik, making a private airport transfer one of the most convenient ways to reach the city after a flight.

Pre-booked transfers can take passengers directly from DBV to hotels, apartments and villas throughout Dubrovnik, including accommodation around Ploče, Lapad, Babin Kuk and Gruž. Transfers can also be arranged to nearby coastal communities and resorts rather than requiring passengers to travel into the city first.

For departures, booking a private car in advance gives you a planned pickup from your accommodation and direct transportation back to Dubrovnik Airport. During the busy summer season, allowing sufficient time for traffic is especially important.

Getting Around Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik's historic centre is compact and best explored on foot. The Old Town is enclosed by its famous city walls, and its narrow historic streets are not designed for ordinary through traffic. Vehicles therefore drop passengers at suitable access points outside the pedestrian areas rather than directly at every property inside the walls.

Outside the Old Town, Dubrovnik extends along a hilly coastline. Hotels, apartments, beaches and residential areas can be separated by steep roads and considerable changes in elevation. Walking a short distance on a map can therefore be more demanding than expected, particularly with luggage or during hot summer weather.

Local buses provide an important part of the city's public transport network and are useful for many journeys between residential districts, the Old Town and Gruž. Regular taxis are also widely used for shorter journeys. For travellers who want a vehicle arranged for a particular time, a private transfer or chauffeur service provides a more predictable alternative.

Private Transfers in Dubrovnik

A private transfer is suited to journeys where convenience, luggage capacity and direct transportation matter more than simply finding the nearest available taxi. The vehicle is reserved for your party, and the pickup location, destination and passenger requirements can be arranged before the journey begins.

This is particularly useful for airport arrivals, early departures, families travelling with children and groups requiring vans or minibuses. It can also simplify transportation to villas and accommodation outside the most central parts of Dubrovnik.

Pre-booking becomes even more valuable when the destination lies outside the city. Instead of negotiating a long journey with a local taxi after departure, the route can be organised in advance as a dedicated regional or intercity transfer.

Chauffeur Service in Dubrovnik

Private chauffeur service offers greater flexibility for travellers who require a car and driver for more than a simple airport journey. It can be arranged for business transportation, hotel-to-hotel travel, dinners, events, sightseeing or a series of appointments during a stay in Dubrovnik.

A chauffeur-driven vehicle is also convenient when visiting several locations around the region in one day. Rather than arranging individual taxis at every stop, travellers can organise transportation around their own itinerary and schedule.

WelcomeTaxi works with professional English-speaking drivers, helping international passengers communicate clearly about pickups, destinations and planned stops.

Transfers to Gruž Port and Cruise Connections

Dubrovnik is a major cruise destination, and many larger cruise ships use the port at Gruž. The port area is separate from the historic Old Town and is also an important transport hub for ferries and buses.

Private transfers can connect Dubrovnik Airport with Gruž harbour, or take arriving cruise passengers directly to hotels, villas and other destinations. This is particularly helpful when travelling with substantial luggage or when several passengers need to travel together.

If your cruise or ferry departure has a fixed check-in time, arranging transportation in advance also allows the pickup to be planned around your schedule rather than relying on finding a suitable vehicle at the last moment.

Regional Travel from Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is a natural starting point for journeys through the southern part of the Croatian coast. Private transfers can be useful for travel to Cavtat, Mlini, Srebreno and other communities in the Dubrovnik-Neretva region, as well as for accommodation located away from regular public transport routes.

Longer journeys within Croatia can also be arranged when travellers prefer door-to-door transportation instead of changing buses or organising separate local connections. This can be especially useful for groups and travellers carrying several suitcases.

Long-Distance Transfers to Montenegro

Dubrovnik lies relatively close to the border with Montenegro, making cross-border transfers an important part of regional travel. Herceg Novi and the Bay of Kotor are among the destinations commonly combined with a stay in Dubrovnik, while journeys can continue towards Tivat, Kotor, Budva and other parts of the Montenegrin coast.

Tivat Airport (TIV) can also be relevant for travellers whose itinerary combines Dubrovnik with coastal Montenegro. Although geographically close, journeys between Croatia and Montenegro involve an international border crossing, and actual travel times can vary considerably depending on traffic and border queues.

For this reason, passengers travelling between Dubrovnik and Montenegro should allow additional time, particularly during the peak summer season.

Private Transfers to Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina is another practical destination for private road travel from Dubrovnik. Trebinje is relatively close to the city, while Mostar is a popular destination for longer journeys and multi-country itineraries.

Mostar International Airport (OMO) may be relevant for some regional travel plans, although Dubrovnik Airport remains by far the most convenient airport for passengers whose primary destination is Dubrovnik itself.

As with transfers to Montenegro, passengers crossing into Bosnia and Herzegovina should carry the travel documents required for their nationality and allow sufficient time for border formalities.

Why Pre-Book a Transfer Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?

A regular taxi is often perfectly suitable for spontaneous short trips within Dubrovnik. A pre-booked transfer becomes more useful when the journey involves an airport, a larger group, substantial luggage, a fixed schedule or a destination outside the city.

Booking ahead means that the required vehicle capacity and journey are arranged before pickup. This is especially valuable for long-distance routes, international border crossings and early-morning airport departures, when leaving transportation until the last moment can create unnecessary uncertainty.

Groups can also reserve a suitable van or minibus instead of dividing passengers and luggage between several taxis. For travellers continuing directly from the airport to another town or country, a private transfer provides a single door-to-door journey without additional changes of transport.

Useful Travel Information for Dubrovnik

Old Town Access

If your accommodation is inside or immediately around Dubrovnik's Old Town, remember that the historic centre has restricted vehicle access and extensive pedestrian areas. Your driver will use the nearest practical authorised drop-off or pickup point rather than driving through pedestrian streets.

Summer Traffic

Dubrovnik is particularly busy during the main summer season. Road traffic can increase around the Old Town, port, airport approaches and international borders. Extra time should be allowed when travelling for a flight, ferry or other fixed departure.

Accommodation Addresses

Provide the complete name and address of your hotel, villa or apartment when booking. Because of Dubrovnik's steep terrain and historic street layout, the most suitable vehicle access point is not always obvious from the property name alone.

Cross-Border Journeys

Dubrovnik's location makes multi-country travel unusually convenient, but Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina are separate countries with their own entry requirements. Check the documentation requirements applicable to every passenger before departure.
