Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Private Transfers and Chauffeur Service in Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki is Greece's second-largest city and the main commercial, cultural and transport center of northern Greece. Located on the Thermaic Gulf, the city combines an important business role with a lively waterfront, historic monuments, universities, restaurants and easy access to some of the country's most popular holiday destinations.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers, airport transportation, chauffeur service and long-distance journeys in Thessaloniki and throughout Central Macedonia. Services are suitable for leisure visitors, families, business travelers and groups who prefer direct door-to-door transportation arranged before their journey.
Thessaloniki Airport Transfers from SKG
Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia (SKG) is the principal airport serving Thessaloniki and northern Greece. Located southeast of the city center, it handles domestic and international flights and is an important gateway for visitors travelling to Thessaloniki, Halkidiki and other destinations in Macedonia.
A pre-booked private airport transfer offers a straightforward way to travel from SKG directly to a hotel, private residence, business address or resort. Passengers can arrange the required vehicle in advance instead of looking for transportation after landing.
Airport transfers are particularly useful for families, travelers with substantial luggage and groups heading directly to resorts outside the city. They are also convenient for late-night or early-morning flights, when direct transportation can be simpler than combining public transport with additional local connections.
Thessaloniki Airport to the City Centre
The airport is relatively close to central Thessaloniki, although actual journey times depend on traffic and the final destination. Popular arrival areas include the waterfront, Aristotelous Square, Ladadika, Ano Poli and the commercial districts east and west of the center.
For airport departures, travelers should allow adequate time for city traffic, especially during busy weekday periods and the summer season. Pre-booking helps ensure that the journey begins from the requested address at the arranged time.
Transfers from Thessaloniki Airport to Halkidiki
Halkidiki is one of the most important leisure destinations served by Thessaloniki Airport. Its three peninsulas — Kassandra, Sithonia and Mount Athos — attract visitors to beach resorts, villas and hotels throughout the summer season.
Many Halkidiki destinations are well outside Thessaloniki itself, making a private transfer particularly useful for arriving passengers. Instead of travelling into the city first or coordinating multiple transport services, passengers can continue directly from SKG to their accommodation.
Private transfers can be arranged to resorts throughout Kassandra and Sithonia as well as other accessible destinations in the Halkidiki region. For families and groups, a suitable vehicle can be selected according to passenger and luggage requirements.
Chauffeur Service in Thessaloniki
Chauffeur service provides greater flexibility than a simple point-to-point transfer. It can be arranged for business meetings, conferences, sightseeing, shopping, events or itineraries involving several stops during the day.
Thessaloniki is an important commercial center with offices, exhibition venues, universities, hotels and industrial areas spread across the metropolitan region. Business travelers may benefit from having transportation arranged for several appointments rather than finding a new taxi for each journey.
Professional English-speaking drivers make communication easier for international visitors. Chauffeur service can also be used for leisure itineraries around Thessaloniki or for excursions to destinations outside the city.
Business and Corporate Transportation
As northern Greece's principal economic center, Thessaloniki hosts trade fairs, corporate meetings, exhibitions and international events throughout the year. The Thessaloniki International Exhibition Centre and the city's numerous hotels and conference venues attract business visitors from Greece and abroad.
Private chauffeur transportation can connect Thessaloniki Airport with hotels, exhibition venues, offices and industrial areas. It can also support full-day schedules with several meetings or provide transportation for visiting executives and corporate delegations.
Pre-booking makes it easier to select a vehicle appropriate for the number of passengers and the required level of comfort, particularly when several colleagues are travelling together.
Getting Around Thessaloniki
Central Thessaloniki is relatively compact, and many major attractions can be reached on foot. Public transport serves the city and surrounding districts, while taxis are widely available for local journeys.
Private transportation becomes particularly useful when travelling with luggage, following a fixed schedule or heading to destinations outside the central urban area. It is also convenient for airport transfers, regional journeys and trips that involve several stops.
Road traffic can be busy during commuter periods, especially on major routes around the city center and the eastern approaches toward the airport. Summer travel can also become heavier on roads leading toward Halkidiki, so sufficient journey time should be allowed for airport departures and long-distance trips.
Why Pre-Book a Private Transfer?
Regular taxis are practical for spontaneous local journeys, but pre-booked transfers provide greater certainty when travelling to or from an airport, heading to a resort or planning a long-distance route.
The pickup location, destination and vehicle requirements are arranged in advance. This is especially useful for passengers arriving in an unfamiliar city, groups requiring a larger vehicle or travelers continuing directly from Thessaloniki Airport to another region.
A private transfer also provides direct door-to-door transportation. Passengers do not need to reach a bus terminal, change services or arrange another taxi after arriving at an intermediate transport hub.
Long-Distance Transfers from Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki is well positioned for road travel throughout northern Greece. Private long-distance transfers can be arranged to coastal resorts, mountain areas, archaeological sites and regional cities across Macedonia and beyond.
Popular destinations may include Kavala, Katerini, Veria, Edessa and other towns in northern Greece. Private transportation can also be arranged for journeys to Meteora, one of the country's most distinctive historical and natural attractions.
For travelers continuing to Halkidiki, a direct private transfer is often especially practical because many resort areas are not connected to Thessaloniki by direct rail services. Door-to-door transport removes the need to coordinate regional buses and local taxis while carrying luggage.
Regional and Cross-Border Travel
Thessaloniki's location makes it an important starting point for journeys across northern Greece and the wider Balkan region. Depending on operational availability and the itinerary, long-distance transfers may be suitable for travelers continuing toward neighboring countries as well as destinations elsewhere in Greece.
International road transfers can be useful for travelers who value direct transportation, have substantial luggage or need to reach a destination that would otherwise require several public transport connections.
Sightseeing and Private Tours by Chauffeur
Thessaloniki has a rich history shaped by Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and modern Greek influences. Major landmarks include the White Tower, the Arch of Galerius, the Rotunda, Byzantine churches and the city's extensive waterfront.
A chauffeur-driven vehicle can help visitors combine central attractions with destinations farther from the city. Regional excursions may include Vergina, known for the ancient royal tombs of Macedon, or other archaeological and cultural sites across Central Macedonia.
Private transportation is also useful for travelers combining sightseeing with a hotel change, airport departure or onward journey to another city or resort.
Transfers to Thessaloniki Railway and Bus Stations
Thessaloniki is an important regional transport hub, with railway and intercity bus connections to destinations throughout Greece. A private transfer can connect Thessaloniki Airport, a hotel or private address with the city's main transport terminals.
This can be convenient for passengers with luggage or those travelling on a fixed departure schedule. When connecting to a train or long-distance bus, additional time should be allowed for road traffic and terminal access.
Travel Between Thessaloniki and Northern Greece
Many visitors use Thessaloniki as the first or final stop in a wider northern Greece itinerary. A private vehicle makes it possible to travel directly between hotels, resorts, archaeological sites and regional cities without returning to a central transport terminal after each journey.
This is particularly useful for families, groups and travelers following an itinerary involving several destinations. Longer routes can be planned in advance, with pickup and drop-off directly at the required accommodation.
Booking Private Transportation in Thessaloniki
When arranging a transfer, provide the pickup location, destination, travel date, number of passengers and luggage requirements. For airport arrivals, accurate flight information helps ensure that the pickup is associated with the correct arrival details.
For chauffeur bookings or longer regional itineraries, provide the planned route and important stops in advance. This helps determine the appropriate vehicle and transportation arrangement.
Whether you need a transfer from Thessaloniki Airport to the city, private transportation to Halkidiki, chauffeur service for business appointments or a long-distance journey across northern Greece, WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked transportation tailored to your itinerary.
