Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Private Transportation in Kuala Lumpur and Greater KL
Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia’s capital and one of Southeast Asia’s leading destinations for tourism, business and international events. The city combines modern skyscrapers, major shopping districts, historic neighbourhoods, religious landmarks and a diverse food culture shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences.
Visitors may come to Kuala Lumpur for a short stopover, a business conference, a family holiday or as the starting point for a longer journey through Peninsular Malaysia. WelcomeTaxi offers pre-booked private transfers and chauffeur services for passengers who prefer direct, door-to-door transportation arranged before their arrival.
Services can be booked between the airports and central Kuala Lumpur, between hotels and business locations, for hourly travel around the city or for long-distance journeys to other Malaysian destinations.
Kuala Lumpur Airport Transfers
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) is the principal international gateway serving Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding region. The airport is located south of the city in Sepang and consists of two main passenger terminals: KLIA Terminal 1 and KLIA Terminal 2.
Both terminals use the same KUL airport code, but they are separate facilities. Passengers should therefore provide the correct terminal, airline and flight number when booking transportation. A driver waiting at the wrong terminal may require additional time to reach the passenger’s actual arrival point.
A pre-booked transfer provides direct transportation from KUL to hotels, apartments, offices and private residences throughout Kuala Lumpur and Greater Kuala Lumpur. Common destinations include Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Bukit Bintang, KL Sentral, Chinatown, Bangsar, Mont Kiara, Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya.
Airport transfers can also be arranged in the opposite direction for departing passengers. Because the airport is situated outside the central metropolitan area, pickup times should allow for traffic, check-in procedures and the distance to the correct terminal.
Transfers from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport
Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB), commonly called Subang Airport or Subang SkyPark, is another airport serving Greater Kuala Lumpur. It is located closer to many western parts of the metropolitan area than Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
SZB is used for selected scheduled services, private aviation and other regional operations. Private transfers can be arranged between the airport and Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Klang and surrounding districts.
Passengers using Subang Airport should check that their booking clearly states SZB rather than KUL. The two airports are in different locations, and travelling between them can take considerable time depending on road conditions.
Airport Meet-and-Greet Service
A meet-and-greet service may be requested for airport arrivals. With this option, the driver waits in the designated arrivals area with a passenger name sign. This can be helpful for first-time visitors, families, corporate guests and travellers arriving after a long international flight.
Passengers should provide an active mobile telephone number and complete flight details. Kuala Lumpur International Airport is a large facility, so clear communication is important if the meeting point needs to be adjusted after arrival.
Chauffeur Service in Kuala Lumpur
An hourly chauffeur service is suitable when a passenger needs transportation for several appointments or destinations. Instead of arranging a separate taxi for every journey, a private vehicle and driver can remain available for the agreed duration.
Chauffeur hire may be used for business meetings, corporate roadshows, conferences, shopping, restaurant visits, sightseeing or transportation between several hotels and offices. The service can be particularly convenient when the itinerary includes waiting time or may change during the day.
Kuala Lumpur is part of a large metropolitan area where neighbouring cities and districts often appear to form one continuous urban zone. A working day may involve journeys between central Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and other locations. Having one driver familiar with the planned itinerary can simplify these movements.
Business and Corporate Transportation
Kuala Lumpur is a major financial and commercial centre with numerous convention venues, corporate headquarters and international hotels. Chauffeur services can be arranged for airport pickups, meetings, exhibitions, executive travel and guest transportation.
Corporate passengers should provide a realistic schedule, including meeting addresses and expected waiting periods. Where several vehicles are required, passenger names and contact details can be organised in advance to make coordination easier.
Getting Around Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur has an extensive public transportation network that includes urban rail, commuter trains, buses and airport rail connections. These options can be practical for travellers moving between major transport hubs and central locations.
However, public transport may be less convenient for passengers carrying several suitcases, families with children, groups, travellers with limited mobility or anyone staying away from a station. Transfers involving several changes can also be uncomfortable in Malaysia’s warm and humid climate.
Ride-hailing services and local taxis are widely used, but vehicle availability and luggage capacity can vary. During peak periods, major events or heavy rain, waiting times may increase. A pre-booked private transfer offers a confirmed pickup plan and a vehicle selected according to the passenger and luggage requirements.
Popular Destinations Within Kuala Lumpur
Private transportation can be arranged to Kuala Lumpur’s principal hotels, shopping centres, attractions and business districts. Frequently requested areas include Kuala Lumpur City Centre, where the Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC Park are located, and Bukit Bintang, known for shopping, dining and entertainment.
Other popular destinations include Merdeka Square, Chinatown, Central Market, the National Mosque, the Lake Gardens area and the historic railway station. Batu Caves, located north of central Kuala Lumpur, can also be included in a chauffeur-driven itinerary or booked as a direct transfer.
For sightseeing services, passengers should submit their preferred stops and estimated duration in advance. Drivers provide transportation and normal journey assistance but should not be considered licensed tour guides unless a separate professional guide has been specifically arranged.
Long-Distance Transfers from Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur is centrally positioned for road travel to many important destinations in Peninsular Malaysia. A long-distance private transfer provides direct transportation without fixed departure schedules, shared seating or unnecessary stops.
Kuala Lumpur to Malacca
Malacca, also known as Melaka, is a popular heritage destination south of Kuala Lumpur. Private transfers can be arranged from a city hotel, private address or either Kuala Lumpur airport. The service is useful for travellers staying overnight as well as those continuing to resorts or residences outside the historic centre.
Kuala Lumpur to Genting Highlands
Genting Highlands is a mountain resort area north-east of Kuala Lumpur. The route includes elevated and winding roads as it approaches the resort. A private transfer provides direct transportation to the passenger’s hotel or agreed entrance, avoiding the need to change between city transport and mountain connections.
Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh and Cameron Highlands
Ipoh is a major city north of Kuala Lumpur and a frequent stop for travellers continuing through the country. Transfers may also be arranged to Cameron Highlands, although the final section of the journey follows winding highland roads and can take longer than the distance alone might suggest.
Passengers prone to motion sickness may wish to prepare accordingly and avoid planning a tightly timed appointment immediately after arrival.
Kuala Lumpur to Penang
Long-distance transfers are available from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, including destinations on the mainland and Penang Island. Because this is a substantial road journey, the exact drop-off address and any requested breaks should be provided when requesting a quotation.
Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru and Singapore
Private transportation can also be requested southbound towards Johor Bahru. Cross-border services to Singapore depend on vehicle permissions, immigration requirements and carrier availability and must be confirmed in advance.
Passengers travelling internationally by road remain responsible for valid passports, visas and entry documentation. Immigration and border waiting times cannot be guaranteed, so sufficient time should be included in the itinerary.
Why Pre-Book a Private Transfer?
Pre-booking gives travellers the opportunity to confirm the route, pickup time, vehicle category and passenger capacity before the day of travel. This is particularly valuable for airport arrivals, early departures, business appointments and long-distance journeys.
A regular taxi may be convenient for an immediate short trip, but it does not always provide enough luggage space or the most suitable vehicle for a family or group. Finding several taxis at once may also be difficult during busy periods.
With a private transfer, the driver receives the booking details in advance. Passengers do not need to explain a complex route after entering the vehicle, and special requirements such as child seats, additional stops or larger luggage capacity can be requested beforehand.
Vehicles for Individuals, Families and Groups
Different vehicle categories can be arranged according to local availability. Sedans are suitable for individual travellers, couples and small parties with limited luggage. Minivans and vans provide more space for families, business groups and passengers carrying several suitcases.
Minibuses and coaches may be requested for larger groups, events and conference transportation. The number of suitcases is as important as the passenger count, especially for airport bookings. Oversized items, sports equipment, pushchairs and additional bags should be declared in advance.
When booking several vehicles, passengers should consider whether the group prefers to travel together or can be divided between vehicles. A larger vehicle may offer simpler coordination, while several smaller vehicles may provide greater flexibility for different destinations.
Useful Travel Information
Traffic conditions in Kuala Lumpur can change significantly depending on the time of day, weather and location. Congestion is common during weekday commuting periods and around major commercial districts. Heavy tropical rain may also slow traffic and increase demand for local transportation.
Passengers travelling to an airport, event or business meeting should avoid relying on the shortest possible journey time. It is better to include a reasonable allowance for congestion, hotel loading procedures and access to large buildings or residential complexes.
Many hotels, shopping centres and towers have several entrances or designated vehicle pickup areas. Providing the exact property name and a mobile telephone number helps the driver identify the correct meeting point. For private residences, a complete address or map location may be necessary.
English is widely used in Malaysia’s tourism and business sectors. WelcomeTaxi can arrange an English-speaking driver, helping passengers communicate essential pickup and journey information more easily.
Booking a Kuala Lumpur Transfer
To request transportation, provide the pickup and drop-off locations, date, time, number of passengers and total luggage. Airport bookings should include the flight number and correct terminal. For chauffeur hire, include the planned destinations and estimated service duration.
Long-distance requests should contain the complete destination address, required stops and any special timing requirements. Advance booking is strongly recommended for groups, premium vehicles, child seats, multi-stop itineraries and journeys outside Greater Kuala Lumpur.
