Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Private Transfers and Chauffeur Services Across New York City

New York is one of the world’s major business, cultural, and tourism destinations. The city extends across five boroughs — Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island — while its wider metropolitan area reaches well into New Jersey, Long Island, and surrounding parts of the northeastern United States. Distances that appear short on a map can take considerably longer than expected because of traffic, bridges, tunnels, and the size of the metropolitan area.

WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers, airport transportation, chauffeur service, and long-distance transfers throughout New York. Services can be arranged for individual travelers, families, corporate passengers, and groups requiring anything from a standard car to a van, premium vehicle, minibus, or other suitable vehicle category.

Whether you are arriving at one of New York’s major airports, traveling between meetings in Manhattan, heading to a cruise terminal, or continuing to another city, arranging transportation in advance can make a complex journey considerably easier.

New York Airports and Airport Transfers

Three major airports serve travelers to the New York metropolitan area: John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Their locations and transportation connections are quite different, so the most convenient airport depends partly on the traveler’s final destination.

John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)

JFK is located in Queens and is one of the principal international gateways to New York. It serves passengers traveling to Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, and destinations throughout the wider region.

Public transportation includes AirTrain JFK, which connects the airport with Jamaica and Howard Beach. From these stations, passengers can continue by subway or Long Island Rail Road. A private airport transfer offers a simpler door-to-door alternative for passengers carrying luggage, traveling with children, or continuing to an address that would require several public-transport connections.

LaGuardia Airport (LGA)

LaGuardia is also located in Queens and can be particularly convenient for Manhattan, Queens, and parts of Brooklyn. Unlike JFK, the airport does not have a direct railway station. MTA buses connect its terminals with subway, Long Island Rail Road, and Metro-North services.

For travelers who prefer not to transfer between a bus and train after a flight, a pre-booked private vehicle provides direct transportation from the airport to the required address.

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)

Newark Liberty International Airport is located across the Hudson River in New Jersey but is one of the principal airports used by passengers traveling to New York City. It is especially relevant for Manhattan, Newark, Jersey City, and destinations elsewhere in New Jersey.

AirTrain Newark connects airport facilities with Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station, where NJ Transit and Amtrak provide onward rail services. Private transfers are an alternative for travelers who want to travel directly to a hotel, residence, or business address without changing between airport and rail systems.

Airport Transfers to Manhattan

Manhattan is the most frequent destination for many visitors arriving in New York. Major hotel and business areas include Midtown, Times Square, the Financial District, Chelsea, SoHo, the Upper East Side, the Upper West Side, and neighborhoods around Central Park.

All three major airports can be used for Manhattan, but road routes differ. JFK and LaGuardia are east of Manhattan in Queens, while Newark is west of the city in New Jersey. Journey times vary substantially according to the airport, exact address, time of day, roadworks, and congestion at bridges and tunnels.

A pre-booked airport transfer is particularly useful when traveling with several suitcases or in a group. Instead of navigating a train station or finding a taxi after arrival, the journey is planned in advance to the exact destination entered in the booking.

Private Transfers Around the Five Boroughs

New York is far larger than central Manhattan. WelcomeTaxi transfers can be arranged between airports and destinations throughout Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, and Manhattan, as well as between different parts of the city.

Brooklyn destinations may include Downtown Brooklyn, Williamsburg, Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, Coney Island, and residential neighborhoods farther south and east. Queens includes not only JFK and LaGuardia airports but also Long Island City, Astoria, Flushing, and numerous residential and commercial districts.

Transportation can also be arranged to the Bronx and Staten Island. Because some journeys cross major bridges or tunnels, actual driving time should always be assessed according to traffic conditions rather than distance alone.

Chauffeur Service in New York

New York is particularly well suited to chauffeur service because many trips involve several appointments rather than a simple journey from one address to another. Business travelers may require transportation between hotels, offices, conference venues, restaurants, and meetings throughout Manhattan or across the metropolitan area.

Hourly chauffeur hire can also be useful for shopping trips, private sightseeing, events, roadshows, or schedules involving several stops. Instead of ordering another taxi or ride-hailing vehicle at every location, passengers can arrange transportation around a planned itinerary.

Different vehicle categories may be available according to the number of passengers, luggage requirements, and preferred comfort level. English-speaking drivers are available on selected services.

Transfers Between JFK, LaGuardia and Newark

Changing airports is a common complication in New York travel. A passenger may arrive at JFK and depart later from LaGuardia, or need to travel between Newark and one of the airports in Queens.

There is no single direct public-transport service linking all three airports. Travel between them usually requires combinations of AirTrain, subway, commuter rail, or buses. With luggage, this can turn an airport connection into a complicated journey.

A private airport-to-airport transfer allows passengers to travel directly from JFK to LGA, JFK to EWR, LGA to EWR, or in the opposite direction without changing vehicles. Because road traffic can vary considerably, generous connection time should still be allowed between flights.

New York Cruise Terminal Transfers

New York is also a major cruise departure point. Depending on the itinerary, passengers may need transportation to Manhattan Cruise Terminal, Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, or Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, New Jersey.

Private transfers can be particularly useful for cruise passengers because baggage volumes are often higher than for a normal city journey. Direct transportation from JFK, LGA, EWR, a Manhattan hotel, or another address avoids transferring suitcases between trains, buses, and taxis.

Long-Distance Transfers from New York

Private transportation from New York can extend well beyond the five boroughs. Long-distance transfers can be arranged to destinations in New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and other parts of the northeastern United States, subject to vehicle and driver availability.

Regional journeys may include destinations on Long Island, in the Hudson Valley, or cities and towns that would otherwise require several public-transport connections. Direct transportation can also make sense for groups, families, or travelers carrying substantial luggage.

For certain itineraries, a long-distance transfer eliminates the need to travel first to Penn Station, Port Authority Bus Terminal, or another transport hub before beginning the main journey.

Public Transportation in New York

New York has one of the most extensive public-transport systems in the United States. The subway operates across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx, while buses cover a much wider network. Commuter rail services include Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, and NJ Transit.

For travel within Manhattan and other well-connected areas, public transport is often efficient and practical. It can be preferable to road transportation at times of severe congestion. However, airport journeys and trips with luggage can require several transfers, especially when the destination is not close to a major station.

Taxis and app-based ride services are widely available as well. They are convenient for spontaneous journeys, but pre-booked transfers are better suited to travelers who want their vehicle category, pickup arrangements, and destination organized before travel.

Why Pre-Book a Private Transfer in New York?

The main advantage of a pre-booked transfer is planning. New York has plenty of transportation choices, but the number of options can itself be inconvenient after a long flight. With a private transfer, the route, destination, passenger count, and required vehicle are arranged in advance.

This is especially useful for first-time visitors, passengers arriving late at night, families with children, corporate travelers following a schedule, and groups requiring additional luggage capacity.

Pre-booking is also valuable for complex journeys such as airport changes, cruise transfers, intercity travel, or chauffeur hire with several stops. Instead of arranging each part of the journey separately, transportation can be planned around the itinerary.

Useful Travel Information for New York

Traffic conditions are an important consideration when traveling by road in New York. Rush hours, roadworks, sporting events, weather, bridge and tunnel congestion, and major events can significantly affect journey times. A route that is fast during a quiet period may take much longer later in the day.

For airport departures, passengers should allow a suitable margin beyond the estimated driving time. This is especially important for routes requiring Hudson River crossings or travel between distant parts of the metropolitan area.

When booking airport transportation, provide accurate flight details and a reachable passenger contact number. For international arrivals, remember to allow time for immigration, baggage collection, and customs before leaving the terminal.

Book Private Transportation in New York

WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers and chauffeur services for journeys throughout New York City and the surrounding region. Transportation can be arranged from JFK, LaGuardia, or Newark Airport, between city addresses, to cruise terminals, for business schedules, and for longer journeys outside New York.

For travelers who value direct transportation, suitable luggage capacity, a choice of vehicle, and a journey organized before departure, a private transfer offers a practical way to travel across one of the world’s largest and busiest metropolitan areas.
