Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Cartagena Airport
Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG) is the main airport serving Cartagena de Indias and one of the principal air gateways to Colombia’s Caribbean coast. The airport is located within the urban area of Cartagena in the Crespo neighbourhood, making it unusually close to many of the city’s major visitor districts.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private airport transfers from CTG to hotels, apartments, private residences and business addresses throughout Cartagena. Chauffeur service and long-distance transfers can also be arranged for travellers continuing to destinations elsewhere on Colombia’s Caribbean coast.
A private transfer is a practical choice for passengers who prefer to organise their transportation before landing. It is particularly convenient for families, groups, business travellers and visitors carrying several pieces of luggage or requiring a larger vehicle.
Getting from CTG Airport to Cartagena
Rafael Núñez International Airport is situated close to central Cartagena. According to the airport, the historic centre and Cartagena de Indias Convention Center are around 10 minutes away under favourable traffic conditions, while the main hotel zone is approximately 15 minutes away. Actual journey times vary depending on congestion, road conditions and the precise destination.
Travellers arriving at CTG can choose between authorized airport taxis, public transport, rental cars and pre-booked private transfers. Because the airport is located inside the city rather than far outside the metropolitan area, road journeys to many popular neighbourhoods are relatively short.
Private Airport Transfer
A pre-booked private transfer provides direct transportation from Cartagena Airport to a specified hotel, apartment, villa or other address. Passenger numbers, luggage requirements and the appropriate vehicle category can be arranged before arrival, avoiding the need to organise transportation after collecting baggage.
This service is particularly useful when several people are travelling together or when a standard taxi may not provide enough space for passengers and suitcases. It is also convenient for international visitors who prefer to have an English-speaking driver requested in advance.
Authorized Airport Taxis
Rafael Núñez International Airport has authorized taxi stations at both the domestic and international terminal exits. The airport recommends using these official taxi services for transportation to other areas of Cartagena.
A regular airport taxi can be a convenient solution for passengers who are comfortable arranging their ride after landing. A private transfer provides a different experience: the journey is reserved beforehand and the required vehicle can be selected according to the booking rather than depending on the next available taxi.
Public Transportation
Cartagena’s Transcaribe integrated public transport system operates through the Crespo area near the airport. The airport also notes that conventional collective public transport serves the surrounding area. Public transport can be an economical option for travellers with light luggage who are familiar with the city and whose accommodation is conveniently located for the available routes.
Passengers should remember that public services do not necessarily provide a direct terminal-to-hotel journey. Travelling with several suitcases, children or a larger group can therefore make a door-to-door private transfer considerably more convenient.
Rental Cars
Car rental services are available at CTG for travellers planning to drive independently during their stay. Renting a vehicle can make sense for an itinerary involving numerous destinations outside Cartagena or several days of regional travel.
Visitors who only need transportation between the airport, their accommodation and central Cartagena may find a transfer or chauffeur service simpler. Driving in an unfamiliar city also means dealing with traffic, navigation and parking, which may not be necessary for a short urban stay.
Transfers to Cartagena’s Historic Centre
Cartagena’s walled historic centre is one of the city’s principal destinations for international visitors. Its colonial streets, plazas, restaurants, hotels and historic buildings attract travellers throughout the year, and CTG is located only a short drive away.
A private transfer can take passengers directly from the airport to accommodation in or near the historic district. Access arrangements may vary for individual properties because some streets in the oldest parts of the city are narrow or subject to vehicle restrictions. The most appropriate accessible pickup or drop-off point can therefore depend on the exact hotel or address.
Airport Transfers to Bocagrande and the Hotel Areas
Bocagrande is another major destination for passengers arriving at Cartagena Airport. The district contains numerous hotels, apartment buildings, restaurants and beaches and is connected by road with both the historic centre and the airport.
Private transfers can also be arranged to neighbouring areas such as Castillogrande, El Laguito, Getsemaní and other districts across Cartagena. Providing the full destination address when booking helps ensure that the transfer is planned for the correct part of the city.
Chauffeur Service in Cartagena
WelcomeTaxi chauffeur service can be arranged for travellers who need transportation for several hours rather than a single airport journey. This can be useful for business meetings, events, sightseeing, restaurant visits or itineraries involving several stops around Cartagena.
Hourly chauffeur hire offers greater continuity than arranging a separate taxi for every journey. It can also be useful for corporate visitors whose schedule includes meetings at different hotels, offices or venues across the city.
English-speaking drivers can be requested for international passengers who prefer to communicate in English during their journey. Vehicle options can be selected according to the number of passengers and the type of service required.
Regional and Long-Distance Transfers from CTG
Cartagena is an important starting point for road travel along Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Private long-distance transfers from CTG can be arranged to destinations outside the city when travellers prefer a direct road journey instead of combining airport transportation with intercity buses or additional local taxis.
Regional journeys may include destinations such as Barranquilla and Santa Marta, as well as hotels, resorts and private addresses along the Caribbean coast. Transfers can also be arranged to road-accessible destinations south of Cartagena, including accommodation in the Barú area.
A long-distance private transfer is especially convenient for families and groups because passengers can travel directly from the airport to their final destination with their luggage remaining in the same vehicle. It can also be preferable when arrival times do not fit conveniently with scheduled intercity transportation.
Transfers from Cartagena Airport to Barú
Barú is a popular leisure destination south of Cartagena, known for beaches, resorts and access to coastal attractions. Some parts of the peninsula can be reached by road, making a private transfer from CTG a practical option for travellers staying at road-accessible hotels and resorts.
Passengers travelling to islands or accommodation requiring boat transportation should confirm the correct marina or embarkation point rather than booking the island itself as a road destination. A private transfer can then provide transportation from Cartagena Airport to the appropriate departure point for the boat connection.
Why Pre-Book a Transfer Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?
Cartagena Airport has official taxis, so travellers making a straightforward city journey always have an on-arrival option. Pre-booking is most useful when passengers want the transportation details settled before their flight.
With a private transfer, the number of passengers, luggage and vehicle requirements can be taken into account in advance. This matters for families, groups and travellers carrying more luggage than a conventional sedan can comfortably accommodate.
Pre-booking is also valuable for regional and long-distance journeys. Rather than negotiating or arranging an intercity journey after arrival, passengers can have transportation planned for the complete route from CTG to their final address.
Local Travel Considerations in Cartagena
Although Cartagena Airport is very close to the city, road conditions can affect journey times. Traffic becomes heavier at busy periods, particularly on routes connecting the northern part of Cartagena with the historic centre, Bocagrande and other popular districts.
Cartagena has a tropical Caribbean climate, so travellers should also consider the practical advantages of direct air-conditioned transportation, especially when arriving with luggage. Door-to-door service avoids unnecessary walking or transfers between different forms of transportation in hot or humid weather.
Spanish is the primary language in Cartagena. International tourism is an important part of the local economy, but English proficiency varies between individual drivers and service providers. Travellers who specifically require an English-speaking driver should request this when arranging their transfer.
Planning Your Cartagena Airport Transfer
When booking transportation from Rafael Núñez International Airport, provide the correct flight details, destination address, passenger count and an accurate indication of luggage. This makes it easier to select a suitable vehicle and organise the airport pickup.
For departure transfers back to CTG, allow sufficient time for possible traffic as well as airline check-in and security procedures. The airport operates domestic and international flights, so the appropriate arrival time at the terminal depends on the journey and airline requirements.
Whether you need a short private transfer to the historic centre, an airport journey to Bocagrande, chauffeur service within Cartagena or a long-distance transfer along Colombia’s Caribbean coast, WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked door-to-door transportation tailored to your itinerary.
