Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Gdańsk Airport
Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN) is the main international airport serving Gdańsk and Poland's Tricity metropolitan area. Located west of central Gdańsk, the airport is also conveniently positioned for Sopot and Gdynia, making it an important gateway to the Baltic coast and the wider Pomerania region.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private airport transfers from Gdańsk Airport to hotels, apartments, business addresses and regional destinations. Passengers can arrange their journey before travelling and continue directly from the terminal with an English-speaking driver instead of organising local transportation after arrival.
Private transfers are suitable for individual travellers, couples, families, business passengers and larger groups. Chauffeur service and long-distance transfers can also be arranged for journeys throughout the Tricity area and onward travel to destinations elsewhere in northern Poland.
Getting from Gdańsk Airport to the City
Gdańsk Airport has convenient road and public transport connections. Travellers can choose between trains, city buses, taxis, rental cars and pre-booked private transfers. The best option depends on the final destination, amount of luggage, group size and preferred level of convenience.
Train from Gdańsk Airport
The airport railway station is located directly in front of the passenger terminal and can be reached by a covered footbridge. Rail services form part of the regional transport network and provide connections towards Gdańsk, Sopot, Gdynia and destinations in Kashubia.
Passengers travelling to central Gdańsk can take a train from the airport and change at Gdańsk Wrzeszcz for services towards Gdańsk Główny or Gdańsk Śródmieście. Depending on the timetable, journeys towards Sopot and Gdynia may be direct or require a change at Gdańsk Wrzeszcz.
The train is a practical option for passengers with light luggage who are staying near a railway station. Travellers whose hotel or apartment requires an additional local connection may find a door-to-door private transfer more convenient.
Public Buses from Gdańsk Airport
Several city bus services connect GDN with Gdańsk and surrounding districts. Line 210 provides a connection between the airport and Gdańsk Main Railway Station, while Line 110 serves Gdańsk Wrzeszcz. Line 120 connects the airport with southern districts, and the N3 night service provides transport during overnight hours.
Public buses are an economical way to travel, particularly for passengers whose destination is close to a convenient stop. Journey times depend on the route and traffic, and travellers with substantial luggage may prefer direct transportation to their accommodation.
Taxis at Gdańsk Airport
Taxis are available outside the terminal, and the airport identifies an official taxi partner for passenger journeys. A regular taxi can be convenient for spontaneous travel to Gdańsk or another nearby destination.
A pre-booked transfer provides an alternative for passengers who want their transportation organised before landing, need a particular vehicle class or require enough space for a family, group or larger amount of luggage.
Rental Cars
A number of car rental companies operate at Gdańsk Airport. Renting a vehicle can be useful for travellers planning an independent road trip through Pomerania, the Baltic coast or other parts of Poland.
For passengers travelling directly to a city hotel, however, renting a car means completing collection formalities, navigating unfamiliar roads and arranging parking. A private transfer provides door-to-door transportation without these additional steps.
Why Pre-Book a Private Transfer from GDN?
Pre-booking allows passengers to organise their airport journey before travelling to Poland. The pickup, destination, passenger number and vehicle requirements can be confirmed in advance, providing a straightforward arrival experience.
Door-to-door transportation is especially useful because the Tricity area extends well beyond central Gdańsk. A passenger may be travelling to the historic centre, a waterfront hotel, Sopot, Gdynia or another destination elsewhere in the metropolitan area.
Instead of changing between a train, bus and local taxi, passengers can travel directly from the airport to the address provided when booking.
Pre-booking also makes it easier to choose an appropriate vehicle. Families and groups can reserve sufficient passenger and luggage capacity rather than depending on the size of the next available taxi.
Transfers from Gdańsk Airport to Gdańsk City Centre
Central Gdańsk is a major tourism and business destination, known for its historic architecture, waterfront and extensive hotel accommodation. Popular areas include the Main City, Old Town surroundings, Granary Island and districts close to the Motława River.
Public transport provides good connections towards the centre, although travelling by train normally requires a change at Gdańsk Wrzeszcz. Passengers staying away from a station may also need an additional walk or local transport connection.
A private airport transfer takes travellers directly to their hotel, apartment or other address, which can be particularly convenient after a late arrival or when travelling with heavy luggage.
Gdańsk Airport Transfers to Sopot
Sopot forms the central part of the Tricity area between Gdańsk and Gdynia. It is one of Poland's best-known Baltic seaside resorts, with hotels, beaches, restaurants, spa facilities and event venues attracting visitors throughout the year.
Rail and bus connections are available from the airport towards Sopot, but depending on the service and destination, passengers may need to change or continue from the station to their accommodation.
A private transfer from GDN offers direct door-to-door transportation to hotels, apartments and other addresses in Sopot without the need to coordinate public transport after the flight.
Gdańsk Airport Transfers to Gdynia
Gdynia is the northernmost of the three principal Tricity cities and an important port, business and residential centre. Gdańsk Airport has railway connections towards Gdynia, including services via Gdańsk Wrzeszcz and an alternative route through Osowa.
For travellers carrying luggage or travelling to an address away from the railway network, a private transfer can provide a simpler journey. Passengers are collected at the airport and driven directly to their hotel, residence, port or business destination in Gdynia.
Chauffeur Service in the Tricity Area
WelcomeTaxi chauffeur service can be arranged for more than a straightforward airport pickup. A private vehicle with driver may be used for business schedules, sightseeing, events and journeys involving several locations across Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia.
The three cities form one closely connected metropolitan area but cover a considerable distance along the Baltic coast. Business meetings, hotels, restaurants, conference venues and attractions may therefore be spread across several districts and cities.
A chauffeur service allows transportation to be organised around the passenger's schedule rather than arranging a separate taxi for every journey. It can also be useful for international visitors attending conferences, corporate events or private functions in the region.
Regional Transfers from Gdańsk Airport
Gdańsk Airport is a convenient starting point for travel throughout Pomerania and northern Poland. Private regional transfers can take passengers directly from GDN to coastal resorts, smaller towns, countryside accommodation and destinations not served by convenient direct public transport.
The airport's rail network provides useful connections towards places such as Kartuzy and Kościerzyna in Kashubia. For travellers whose final address is outside the main railway network, however, a private car offers the advantage of uninterrupted door-to-door travel.
Regional chauffeur service is particularly useful for families, groups and passengers with substantial luggage who prefer not to change between several modes of transportation.
Exploring Kashubia from Gdańsk Airport
Kashubia lies immediately west and south-west of the Tricity area and is known for its lakes, forests, villages and distinctive regional culture. GDN is well positioned for visitors continuing towards destinations in this part of northern Poland.
Rail services connect the airport with Kartuzy and Kościerzyna, while private transfers can provide direct transportation to hotels, holiday accommodation and rural addresses throughout the region.
For itineraries involving several stops, a chauffeur service can offer additional flexibility by allowing travellers to plan the journey around their own schedule.
Long-Distance Transfers from Gdańsk Airport
Private long-distance transfers offer an alternative to trains and intercity coaches when direct travel between addresses is more important than reaching a station or terminal. Journeys can be arranged from Gdańsk Airport to destinations elsewhere in northern and central Poland according to the required route.
This type of service can be especially convenient for families, groups, business travellers and passengers carrying considerable luggage. Instead of making several transfers, passengers remain in one vehicle from the airport to their final destination.
Long-distance chauffeur service can also be suitable for multi-city itineraries when travellers want flexible departure times or transportation between locations that do not have a convenient direct public transport connection.
Business Travel from Gdańsk Airport
Gdańsk and the wider Tricity area are important centres for business, maritime industries, technology and international events. Offices and meeting venues are located throughout Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia rather than in a single central district.
A pre-booked chauffeur can take a business passenger directly from GDN to an office, hotel, conference venue or meeting. Hourly chauffeur service can also be useful when several appointments are scheduled across the metropolitan area during the same day.
Useful Information for Arriving Passengers
Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport uses the IATA code GDN. The airport serves the entire Tricity metropolitan area, including Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia, rather than Gdańsk alone.
The airport railway station is directly outside the passenger terminal, while city buses depart from stops opposite the terminal. Taxis and rental cars are also available for passengers arranging transportation after arrival.
When booking a private airport transfer, passengers should provide the correct flight details, complete destination address, passenger number and realistic luggage requirements. Selecting a vehicle with sufficient capacity for both people and baggage helps ensure a comfortable journey.
With airport transfers, chauffeur service and long-distance private transportation available from Gdańsk Airport, travellers can arrange their onward journey before arriving in Poland and travel directly to Gdańsk, Sopot, Gdynia or destinations farther across the country.
