Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service in Gdańsk

Gdańsk is one of Poland's most distinctive historic cities and an important gateway to the Baltic coast. Together with neighbouring Sopot and Gdynia, it forms the Tricity metropolitan area, where historic districts, beaches, business centres, ports and residential neighbourhoods are connected by a busy regional transport network.

WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers and chauffeur service in Gdańsk for individual travellers, families, business visitors and groups. Transportation can be arranged between the airport, hotels, private addresses, railway stations, ferry terminals, business venues and destinations outside the city. Booking in advance is a convenient option when you prefer to have your vehicle, pickup and route organised before travel.

Gdańsk Airport Transfers

Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN) is the main airport serving Gdańsk, the Tricity area and much of northern Poland. It is located west of central Gdańsk and has road and public transport connections with Gdańsk, Sopot, Gdynia and other communities across the region.

A private transfer from Gdańsk Airport provides direct transportation to hotels and addresses in the historic centre, Wrzeszcz, Oliwa and other parts of Gdańsk. Transfers can also be arranged directly to Sopot and Gdynia, making GDN a practical airport for travellers staying anywhere within the wider Tricity area.

Pre-booked airport transfers are particularly convenient for passengers carrying luggage, families with children, groups requiring a van or larger vehicle and business travellers working to a fixed schedule. English-speaking drivers make communication easier for international visitors arriving in Poland.

Getting from Gdańsk Airport to the City

Travellers arriving at GDN can continue by bus, train, taxi or private transfer. City buses connect the airport with central Gdańsk and Wrzeszcz, while rail services provide useful links within the metropolitan region.

Public transport is a practical option for travellers staying close to a convenient station or stop. A private airport transfer provides direct door-to-door transportation instead, taking passengers from the terminal to the exact hotel, apartment or other address without changes or additional local transport.

This is particularly useful when arriving late, travelling with substantial luggage or continuing directly to Sopot, Gdynia or another destination outside central Gdańsk.

Getting Around Gdańsk and the Tricity

Central Gdańsk is relatively compact, and many of its best-known historic sights can be explored on foot. The wider metropolitan area is much larger, however, extending north through Sopot to Gdynia and including numerous residential, commercial and coastal districts.

Public transportation includes buses, trams and regional rail services, making it possible to travel efficiently between many parts of the Tricity. Private transportation becomes useful when passengers are carrying luggage, travelling between several locations or need a direct journey at a particular time.

A pre-booked vehicle can also simplify journeys between hotels, business venues, railway stations, ports and coastal destinations without coordinating several separate rides.

Chauffeur Service in Gdańsk

Hourly chauffeur service is suitable for travellers who need a vehicle for several journeys during the same period. Instead of arranging a separate taxi for every trip, the vehicle and driver can remain available according to the booked schedule.

Business visitors may use a chauffeur for transportation between Gdańsk Airport, hotels, offices, conferences and meetings throughout the Tricity. Leisure travellers can arrange a vehicle for sightseeing, restaurants, shopping or an itinerary combining several destinations.

For families, delegations and groups, vans and larger vehicles allow passengers to travel together rather than dividing between several cars.

Private Transfers Between Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia

Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia are closely connected but have different characters and attractions. Gdańsk is known for its historic centre and waterfront, Sopot for its beach and resort atmosphere, and Gdynia for its port, marina and modern urban centre.

Private transfers can connect hotels and addresses anywhere across the Tricity. They are especially convenient when travelling with luggage, moving between accommodation and a ferry or railway terminal, or attending events in a different part of the metropolitan area.

Airport transfers from GDN can also go directly to Sopot or Gdynia without requiring passengers to travel through central Gdańsk first.

Long-Distance Transfers from Gdańsk

Gdańsk is a useful starting point for road journeys across Pomerania and northern Poland. WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance transfers to cities, coastal resorts and other destinations according to operational availability.

Private transfers may be particularly useful for journeys where public transport requires several connections or where the final destination is a hotel, residence or smaller town away from a major railway station. Passengers can be collected directly from Gdańsk Airport, a hotel or private address and taken to their final destination in the same vehicle.

Long-distance transfers can also suit families and groups who prefer to travel together with their luggage rather than combine trains, buses and local taxis.

Transfers Along the Baltic Coast

The area around Gdańsk provides access to numerous Baltic coast destinations. Private transportation can be useful for travellers continuing from the airport or Tricity to seaside towns, resorts and accommodation elsewhere in Pomerania.

Depending on the itinerary, direct transfers can be arranged towards destinations such as Władysławowo, Jastrzębia Góra and other coastal communities. A private vehicle is particularly convenient when accommodation is located away from the main railway network or when several passengers are travelling together.

For itineraries involving several locations during the same day, an hourly or multi-stop chauffeur arrangement may provide greater flexibility than a simple one-way transfer.

Why Pre-Book Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?

Taxis and app-based ride services are readily available in Gdańsk and are practical for many short city journeys. A pre-booked private transfer is most useful when the journey requires advance planning, a particular vehicle type or transportation beyond the immediate city area.

Airport passengers can arrange their pickup before travelling, while groups can reserve a vehicle suitable for everyone and their luggage. For journeys to Sopot, Gdynia or destinations farther across northern Poland, the complete route can be organised in advance.

International visitors may also prefer transportation with an English-speaking driver, particularly when travelling to private accommodation, business locations or destinations outside the main tourist areas.

Business Transportation in Gdańsk

Gdańsk and the wider Tricity form one of northern Poland's most important business centres. Corporate offices, technology companies, conference venues, port-related industries and hotels are distributed across Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia.

A chauffeur service can help business travellers coordinate several appointments without arranging individual rides throughout the day. Airport pickup, hotel transportation, meetings and evening events can be combined within the same planned schedule.

For larger delegations, vans and minibuses provide coordinated transportation between the airport, hotels, offices and event venues.

Useful Travel Information for Gdańsk

The historic centre of Gdańsk is best explored largely on foot. Visitors should distinguish between the compact sightseeing area and the much larger modern city, as districts such as Wrzeszcz and Oliwa are some distance from the historic centre.

Sopot and Gdynia are separate cities but form part of the same continuous metropolitan region. When arranging a transfer, providing the exact hotel or street address is therefore important, particularly if the accommodation is described simply as being in the Tricity area.

Rail and public transport connections are useful throughout the region, while private transfers provide a direct alternative for airport journeys, luggage-heavy travel, business schedules and destinations outside the main public transport corridors.

Book a Private Transfer in Gdańsk

WelcomeTaxi offers pre-booked transportation for airport arrivals, hotel transfers, journeys across the Tricity, chauffeur hire and long-distance travel from Gdańsk. Whether you need a transfer from Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport, a private vehicle for several hours or transportation to another destination in northern Poland, your journey can be arranged in advance with a suitable vehicle and professional driver.
