Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Glasgow Airport

Glasgow Airport (GLA) is the principal international airport serving Glasgow and one of Scotland's busiest aviation gateways. Located west of the city near Paisley, it provides convenient access to central Glasgow, the wider Central Belt, Loch Lomond and destinations throughout western Scotland.

WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private airport transfers from GLA for individual travellers, families, business passengers and groups. Transportation can be arranged in advance to hotels, apartments, offices, cruise terminals and private addresses in Glasgow as well as destinations farther across Scotland.

English-speaking drivers can be requested, while different vehicle categories make it possible to arrange suitable transportation for short city transfers, group travel and longer journeys.

Getting from Glasgow Airport to the City Centre

Glasgow Airport is approximately 10 miles west of central Glasgow. Road travel is the most direct way to reach the city, with the M8 motorway providing the main connection between the airport and central districts.

Passengers can choose between private transfers, taxis, airport buses, local bus connections and rental cars. There is currently no direct railway station at the airport itself, so travellers using the rail network normally need to connect by bus or other road transport.

Private Airport Transfer

A pre-booked private transfer provides direct transportation from Glasgow Airport to your hotel, residence, business address or other destination. The passenger count, luggage requirements and destination are arranged before arrival, reducing the need to organize transportation after collecting your bags.

This can be especially convenient for families, groups and passengers arriving with several suitcases or sports equipment. Larger vans can be arranged when additional passenger or luggage capacity is required.

Private transfers are also useful for travellers continuing directly beyond Glasgow to another Scottish city, resort or rural destination.

Glasgow Airport Express Bus

The Glasgow Airport Express Service 500 provides a direct bus connection between the airport and central Glasgow. It serves key city-centre stops, including Buchanan Bus Station and locations convenient for Glasgow Central and Queen Street railway stations.

The airport express can be a practical option for solo travellers and passengers staying near the main city transport hubs. Travellers whose accommodation is farther away may need to continue by taxi, local bus or on foot.

A private transfer avoids these additional connections and provides direct transportation to the final address.

Taxis from Glasgow Airport

Taxis are available at Glasgow Airport and provide a straightforward option for journeys into the city and surrounding areas. They may suit travellers who prefer to arrange transportation after arrival.

For passengers who need a specific vehicle type, are travelling as a larger group or are continuing on a long-distance journey, pre-booking provides greater certainty and allows the transport requirements to be organized in advance.

Rail Connections

Glasgow Airport does not currently have a passenger railway station directly at the terminal. Travellers using Scotland's rail network can connect through Glasgow city centre or nearby stations using bus, taxi or private transfer services.

Passengers travelling with substantial luggage may find a direct transfer more convenient than combining several modes of transport.

Transfers from GLA to Glasgow Hotels

Glasgow is Scotland's largest city and a major centre for culture, business, shopping and events. Popular accommodation areas include the city centre, Merchant City, Finnieston and the West End.

A private airport transfer provides direct transportation to hotels and apartments throughout Glasgow. This can be particularly convenient for evening arrivals, families and travellers carrying several pieces of luggage.

Providing the exact hotel or accommodation address when booking helps ensure that the driver uses the most suitable route and drop-off point.

Chauffeur Service in Glasgow

WelcomeTaxi also provides chauffeur service for travellers who require transportation for several hours or multiple stops. Glasgow hosts major conferences, exhibitions, concerts, sporting events and corporate meetings throughout the year, making flexible private transportation useful for both business and leisure visitors.

A chauffeur can provide transportation between hotels, offices, event venues, restaurants and other destinations according to a planned itinerary. English-speaking drivers can be requested for international travellers.

Hourly chauffeur service also removes the need to arrange a separate taxi after every appointment and can be particularly useful for corporate schedules involving several locations.

Transfers to Glasgow's West End and Event Venues

The West End is one of Glasgow's most popular districts for visitors and is home to the University of Glasgow, museums, restaurants and hotels. Finnieston and the riverside area also contain major venues and conference facilities.

A private transfer from GLA can take passengers directly to accommodation or event venues without the need to travel through a central bus or railway station first.

Chauffeur service can also be arranged for passengers attending several events or meetings during the same day.

Glasgow Airport to Loch Lomond

Loch Lomond is one of Scotland's best-known natural destinations and lies northwest of Glasgow. Its southern shores can be reached relatively easily from Glasgow Airport by road.

A private transfer from GLA to Loch Lomond can take passengers directly to hotels, lodges and other accommodation in destinations such as Balloch and surrounding communities.

This can be particularly useful for travellers beginning a Scottish touring itinerary immediately after arriving at the airport.

Long-Distance Transfers from Glasgow Airport

Glasgow Airport is a convenient starting point for road journeys throughout Scotland. WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance private transfers to Edinburgh, Stirling, Ayrshire, the Highlands and other destinations according to the traveller's itinerary.

Private long-distance transportation provides continuous door-to-door travel and can be particularly attractive for families and groups carrying luggage. It also avoids the need to travel into central Glasgow before beginning the onward journey.

For rural destinations and hotels outside major towns, a private transfer may be significantly more convenient than combining trains, buses and local taxis.

Glasgow Airport to Edinburgh

Edinburgh is Scotland's capital and one of the most popular onward destinations for passengers arriving at Glasgow Airport. The two cities are connected by motorway and frequent public transport, but a direct private transfer offers door-to-door transportation between GLA and an Edinburgh hotel or private address.

This can be useful for groups, families or travellers whose flight schedule makes Glasgow more convenient than Edinburgh Airport.

Private transfers can also be arranged directly to Edinburgh Airport (EDI) when passengers need to connect between the two airports.

Transfers from Glasgow Airport to Stirling

Stirling lies northeast of Glasgow and is an important historic destination known for Stirling Castle and its role in Scottish history. Its central location also makes it a useful base for exploring other parts of Scotland.

A private transfer from Glasgow Airport to Stirling provides direct transportation to hotels, residences and other addresses without requiring a change in central Glasgow.

Private Transfers to Ayrshire

Ayrshire lies southwest of Glasgow and includes towns such as Ayr, Prestwick and Troon. The region is known for golf courses, coastal scenery and links with Robert Burns.

Private transfers can be arranged from GLA to hotels, golf resorts and private addresses throughout Ayrshire. This can be especially convenient for passengers carrying golf equipment or travelling in groups.

Transfers to Cruise Ports and Maritime Connections

Some passengers arriving at Glasgow Airport continue towards cruise and ferry connections on Scotland's west coast. Private transfers can be arranged to relevant ports and terminals according to the itinerary.

For cruise passengers carrying several large suitcases, pre-booking a suitable vehicle can simplify the journey and reduce the need to coordinate luggage across several transport services.

Glasgow Airport and Glasgow Prestwick Airport

Glasgow is associated with two separate airports. Glasgow Airport uses the code GLA and is located close to Paisley, while Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK) lies much farther southwest near Prestwick and Ayr.

Passengers should always check the airport code shown on their flight booking because GLA and PIK are not interchangeable. Glasgow Airport is significantly closer to central Glasgow, while Prestwick serves a different part of the region.

Private airport-to-airport transfers can be arranged when an itinerary requires travel between GLA and PIK.

Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh Airport

Edinburgh Airport (EDI) is another major international gateway serving Scotland's Central Belt. Depending on airline schedules, travellers visiting Glasgow or Edinburgh may consider flights through either airport.

A private transfer between Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh can be useful for travellers arriving through one airport but staying or departing from the other city.

When connecting between separate flights, passengers should allow sufficient time for road traffic, baggage collection and check-in procedures.

Why Pre-Book a Transfer from Glasgow Airport?

Glasgow Airport has good bus and taxi connections, so travellers have several convenient transport options. A private transfer is particularly valuable when passengers want direct door-to-door service or need transportation beyond the city centre.

The vehicle can be selected in advance according to passenger numbers and luggage requirements. This is useful for families, business groups and travellers carrying golf clubs, ski equipment or other oversized baggage.

Pre-booking is also convenient for passengers travelling directly to Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, Ayrshire or other destinations outside Glasgow.

English-Speaking Drivers in Glasgow

English-speaking drivers can be requested for WelcomeTaxi airport transfers and chauffeur services in Glasgow. This makes communication straightforward for international visitors travelling to hotels, business addresses and regional destinations.

An English-speaking chauffeur can also be useful for corporate travel or private itineraries involving several stops during the same day.

Useful Travel Information

Glasgow Airport can become busy during peak travel periods, and road traffic on the M8 may affect journey times between the airport and the city. Passengers travelling back to GLA for a departing flight should allow additional time during busy periods.

When booking a transfer, provide accurate flight details, passenger numbers and luggage requirements. Travellers carrying golf equipment, bicycles or oversized items should select a vehicle with sufficient capacity.

Glasgow is an excellent starting point for travel across western Scotland, and many rural destinations are most easily reached by road. A private transfer or chauffeur service can therefore be particularly useful for itineraries extending beyond the city.

Whether you are travelling from GLA to central Glasgow, continuing to Edinburgh or Loch Lomond, heading towards Ayrshire or arranging chauffeur service for business or sightseeing, WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transportation designed around your journey.
