Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service in Glasgow

Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city and an important centre for business, culture, live music, education and international events. Its Victorian architecture, acclaimed museums, lively neighbourhoods and convenient position for exploring western and central Scotland attract both leisure and corporate travellers throughout the year.

WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers in Glasgow for passengers who prefer a direct and organised journey. Services can be arranged between airports, hotels, private addresses, railway stations, conference venues and destinations outside the city. Whether you are visiting for a weekend, attending an exhibition or beginning a longer journey through Scotland, booking your transport in advance helps make the arrival process simpler.

Glasgow Airport Transfers

Glasgow Airport (GLA)

Glasgow Airport is the principal airport serving the city and the most convenient arrival point for many international and domestic passengers. It is located west of central Glasgow, close to Paisley, with road connections to the city and the wider motorway network.

A private transfer from Glasgow Airport offers door-to-door transport without the need to navigate bus connections, carry luggage between stops or wait for an available taxi. Your journey can be arranged directly to a hotel in the city centre, a meeting venue, a residential address or another destination in Scotland.

Glasgow Airport does not have a railway station directly at the passenger terminal. The nearest station is Paisley Gilmour Street, which requires an additional connection. A pre-booked airport transfer is therefore particularly practical for families, groups, business travellers, passengers with substantial luggage and anyone arriving early in the morning or late at night.

Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK)

Glasgow Prestwick Airport is situated southwest of Glasgow near the towns of Prestwick and Ayr. It has its own railway station, connected to the terminal by a covered walkway, but passengers travelling with luggage or continuing beyond central Glasgow may still prefer a private vehicle.

A pre-arranged transfer from Glasgow Prestwick Airport can take you directly to Glasgow, Ayrshire, Loch Lomond or another regional destination. There is no need to coordinate train times, change transport in the city or arrange a separate taxi for the final part of the journey.

Private Transfers within Glasgow

Glasgow covers a broad urban area divided by the River Clyde. Popular destinations include the city centre, Merchant City, the West End, Finnieston, the SEC campus, Pacific Quay and neighbourhoods on both sides of the river. Although public transport serves much of the city, a private transfer can be more convenient when travelling between locations that are not on the same route.

Door-to-door transport is useful for journeys between Glasgow Airport and central hotels, transfers to Glasgow Central or Queen Street railway stations, travel to concerts and sporting events, and transport between accommodation and conference venues. It also provides a practical solution for passengers with mobility requirements, children, specialist equipment or multiple suitcases.

Vehicles can be selected according to the number of passengers and the amount of luggage. Individual travellers and couples may prefer a sedan, while families and larger parties can request a minivan, van, minibus or coach where available.

Chauffeur Service for Business and Leisure

A Glasgow chauffeur service provides more flexibility than a simple journey from one address to another. It can be booked for business meetings, corporate hospitality, exhibitions, weddings, private events, shopping trips and sightseeing itineraries. Hourly and daily arrangements allow the vehicle and driver to remain available for an agreed period, subject to the confirmed booking conditions.

Business travellers can organise airport pickup followed by transport to offices, hotels or meeting venues. A chauffeur can also support an itinerary involving several appointments across Glasgow and the surrounding region, reducing the need to arrange a new taxi after every stop.

For leisure travellers, chauffeur-driven transport makes it easier to visit several attractions or destinations in one day. An itinerary may combine central Glasgow with the West End, museums, historic sites or countryside outside the city.

Long-Distance Transfers from Glasgow

Glasgow is a useful starting point for travel across Scotland. WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance private transfers to Edinburgh, Stirling, Loch Lomond, Ayrshire and other cities, towns and rural destinations. Longer journeys to the Highlands, ferry ports or remote accommodation can also be requested in advance.

A private long-distance transfer is particularly valuable when the destination requires several public transport connections. The vehicle travels directly from the agreed pickup address to the final destination, allowing passengers to avoid station changes and manage luggage more easily.

Long-distance services can also connect Glasgow with airports elsewhere in Scotland when required by a passenger’s flight schedule. These journeys should be reserved with sufficient time for traffic conditions, check-in requirements and any planned stops.

Why Pre-Book Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?

A taxi from a street rank may be suitable for a short journey, but pre-booking offers important advantages for airport and intercity travel. The pickup time, route, passenger count and luggage requirements can be confirmed before the journey. This reduces uncertainty on arrival and helps ensure that the selected vehicle is appropriate for the group.

Pre-booking is especially useful during major concerts, football matches, conferences, festivals and holiday periods, when local demand may be high. It is also preferable for early departures, group travel and journeys to places outside the normal operating area of city taxis.

For airport arrivals, providing the correct flight information helps coordinate the pickup. Passengers should also include accurate contact details, the complete destination address and any special requirements when placing a booking.

Getting Around Glasgow

Glasgow has an extensive public transport network that includes suburban trains, buses and the Glasgow Subway. The Subway is particularly useful for travel between the city centre and parts of the West End and south of the River Clyde. Railway services connect Glasgow Central and Queen Street stations with destinations across Scotland and the rest of the United Kingdom.

Public transport works well for many daytime journeys, but it may not provide a direct connection to every hotel, event venue or residential area. Travellers should also consider operating hours, luggage, weather and the need to change services. Private transfers complement the local network by providing a direct option when convenience, timing or comfort is the priority.

Road traffic can become heavier during weekday commuting periods and around major events. Allowing additional time for airport departures is sensible, particularly when travelling through the city centre or near busy venues.

Useful Information for Your Glasgow Transfer

When booking, provide the exact pickup and drop-off addresses, travel date, requested time, number of passengers and approximate luggage quantity. For an airport pickup, include the flight number and scheduled arrival time. Families should request suitable child seats in advance, as these may not be available without prior notice.

Scotland’s weather can change quickly, and rain is possible throughout the year. Door-to-door transport can be especially welcome when travelling with luggage or formal clothing. If your itinerary includes rural roads, ferry connections or several stops, share the full plan in advance so that sufficient journey time and an appropriate vehicle can be arranged.

From a straightforward Glasgow Airport transfer to a full-day chauffeur booking or a long-distance journey across Scotland, WelcomeTaxi offers a practical way to organise private ground transportation before you travel.
