Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from London City Airport

London City Airport (LCY) is located in the Royal Docks in East London and is the most centrally located of London's major airports. Its position makes it particularly convenient for travellers heading to Canary Wharf, the City of London and many destinations in East and Central London. The airport is compact, making it popular with both business passengers and leisure travellers who value a straightforward arrival and departure experience.

WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private airport transfers from London City Airport to hotels, offices, private addresses, railway stations and destinations throughout the United Kingdom. A private transfer provides direct door-to-door travel and can be particularly convenient when carrying luggage, travelling with children, arriving for a business appointment or continuing beyond London.

Getting from London City Airport to Central London

London City Airport benefits from excellent public transport links. Depending on your destination, you can continue by Docklands Light Railway, bus, taxi or private transfer.

Docklands Light Railway

London City Airport has its own Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station immediately beside the terminal. The DLR provides connections through East London and links with the wider London Underground and rail network.

It is a convenient choice for passengers travelling with light luggage and heading to areas well served by public transport. Connections can be made towards Canary Wharf, Bank, Stratford and other parts of London, although some journeys require a change between services.

Elizabeth Line Connections

London City Airport does not have its own Elizabeth line station, but passengers can reach the line by connecting from the DLR. The Elizabeth line provides fast onward travel through Central London and towards destinations in both western and eastern parts of the capital.

For passengers with substantial luggage or a destination away from a convenient station, however, a direct private transfer can be simpler than making several connections.

Local Buses

Bus services stop at London City Airport and connect it with surrounding areas of East London. They can be useful for local journeys, although visitors travelling farther across London will often find the DLR or a direct road transfer more practical.

Black Cabs and Private Cars

A taxi rank is located directly outside the terminal, with London's traditional black cabs available for journeys into the city. Chauffeured and pre-booked private cars provide another option for passengers who prefer to arrange their journey before arrival.

Private Transfers to Canary Wharf and the City of London

One of London City Airport's main advantages is its proximity to London's principal financial districts. Canary Wharf is only a short distance from the airport, while the City of London is also considerably closer than from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton or Stansted.

This makes LCY particularly attractive to corporate travellers. A pre-booked chauffeur can take you directly from the terminal to an office, hotel, meeting venue or conference location without navigating public transport with luggage or changing between trains.

WelcomeTaxi transfers can also be arranged to destinations such as Westminster, Mayfair, Kensington, Chelsea, King's Cross, Paddington, London Bridge, Greenwich and other areas of Greater London.

Chauffeur Service from London City Airport

A chauffeur service from LCY is well suited to business trips, executive travel, corporate events and travellers who prefer additional comfort and privacy. Professional English-speaking drivers make communication easy for international passengers, while advance booking means that the vehicle requirements and destination are arranged before the flight arrives.

Chauffeur service can be used for a simple airport-to-hotel journey or as part of a longer itinerary involving offices, meetings, events or destinations outside London. It is also suitable for travellers who need a larger vehicle for colleagues, family members or additional luggage.

Transfers Between London City Airport and Other London Airports

London has six main international airports, and passengers sometimes need to travel between them for connecting flights. London City Airport is relatively close to Central London but considerably farther from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and Southend.

Public transport between airports can involve several rail, Underground or DLR connections. When travelling with luggage or working with a limited connection window, a direct private airport transfer can be considerably easier.

WelcomeTaxi can arrange transfers between London City Airport and Heathrow Airport (LHR), Gatwick Airport (LGW), Stansted Airport (STN), Luton Airport (LTN) and London Southend Airport (SEN). For any airport-to-airport connection, passengers should leave a generous time allowance for London traffic, check-in procedures and possible flight delays.

Long-Distance Transfers from London City Airport

Not every passenger arriving at LCY is staying in London. The airport can also be a useful starting point for direct road journeys to destinations elsewhere in southern England and across the United Kingdom.

Pre-booked long-distance transfers can be arranged to cities, towns, universities, business locations, resorts and private addresses. Depending on your itinerary, destinations may include Cambridge, Oxford, Brighton, Canterbury, Dover and other parts of southern and eastern England.

A direct car is particularly useful when the destination has no convenient airport rail connection. Rather than travelling into Central London, changing stations and continuing by another train, passengers can leave directly from the airport for their final address.

London City Airport Transfers to Cruise Ports

Travellers arriving in London before a cruise may need onward transport to ports such as Southampton or Dover. Both require a substantial journey from London City Airport, and public transport can involve travelling through Central London and changing between services.

A private transfer offers a direct alternative from the airport terminal to the cruise terminal or a nearby hotel. This can be especially convenient for couples, families and groups travelling with cruise luggage. When booking transport for an embarkation day, sufficient time should always be allowed for flight arrival formalities and unpredictable road conditions.

Why Pre-Book a Private Transfer from LCY?

London City Airport has excellent public transport, so a private transfer is not necessarily the best option for every passenger. Solo travellers with light luggage and a destination near a DLR or Underground station may find public transport fast and convenient.

Private transport becomes more attractive when convenience matters more. Families, groups, business travellers, passengers carrying several bags and those travelling beyond London can avoid connections and continue directly to their destination.

Pre-booking also makes the journey more predictable. The required vehicle and destination are arranged in advance, which is particularly useful for corporate trips, airport-to-airport connections and longer journeys where finding suitable transport after landing may be inconvenient.

Useful Information for Travellers Arriving at LCY

London City Airport is much more compact than London's larger airports. Its passenger gates are arranged across two wings, and the short distances within the airport can make the arrival process straightforward compared with large multi-terminal hubs.

The airport's East London location is particularly advantageous for Canary Wharf, the Docklands, Greenwich and the City. For destinations in West London, however, road travel may take considerably longer, especially during weekday peak periods.

London traffic conditions can change substantially throughout the day. If your transfer connects with a meeting, train, cruise or another flight, allow sufficient additional time rather than planning around the fastest possible driving time.

Whether you need a private airport transfer into Central London, an English-speaking chauffeur for a business journey, a transfer between London airports or long-distance transportation elsewhere in the United Kingdom, WelcomeTaxi provides a convenient pre-booked alternative from London City Airport.
