Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Mexico City International Airport

Mexico City International Airport (MEX), officially Benito Juárez International Airport, is the primary airport serving Mexico City and one of the most important aviation hubs in Latin America. Located close to the eastern side of the city, it handles a large mix of domestic, regional and intercontinental flights, making it the usual arrival point for business travellers, tourists, families and international delegations visiting the Mexican capital.

Mexico City is a vast, busy and highly dynamic metropolis. Distances can look short on the map, but travel time often depends on traffic, time of day, roadworks, weather and local events. For many passengers, especially after a long-haul flight, a pre-booked private transfer from Mexico City International Airport is the most convenient way to reach the city without having to compare taxi desks, payment options or app availability on arrival.

Getting from Mexico City Airport to the City

MEX is relatively close to central Mexico City, but the airport is surrounded by some of the busiest road corridors in the capital. Popular destinations from the airport include Centro Histórico, Reforma, Polanco, Roma Norte, Condesa, Juárez, Coyoacán, Santa Fe, Interlomas and the hotel districts around Paseo de la Reforma. Depending on traffic, a journey that seems simple can take significantly longer during peak commuting hours.

Travellers arriving at Mexico City Airport generally have several transportation options. Authorized airport taxis are available from official counters inside the terminals. Public transport can be useful for passengers travelling light and familiar with the city, including metro and Metrobús connections. Ride-hailing apps may be used by some visitors, although airport pickup rules and meeting points can be less straightforward than a standard city ride. Hotel shuttles may be available for selected properties, usually by prior arrangement.

A private airport transfer offers a more predictable alternative. Your vehicle is booked in advance, the pickup details are confirmed before the trip, and the driver is assigned according to the route, passenger count and luggage requirements. This is especially useful for first-time visitors, late arrivals, families with children, travellers carrying several suitcases, and passengers who need a smooth connection to a meeting, hotel or onward journey.

Private Transfers from MEX to Mexico City Hotels and Districts

WelcomeTaxi arranges private transfers from Mexico City International Airport to hotels, apartments, offices and private addresses throughout the city. Whether you are staying near the historic centre, attending meetings in Santa Fe, visiting restaurants and galleries in Roma or Condesa, or travelling to a luxury hotel in Polanco, a pre-booked transfer helps you avoid uncertainty at the terminal.

The service is suitable for solo travellers, couples, families, small groups and corporate passengers. Depending on availability and route requirements, vehicles may include sedans, SUVs, vans and minibuses. For premium travel, executive chauffeur service can be arranged for airport arrivals, departures, business meetings, embassy visits, conferences, private events and full-day transportation in the city.

English-speaking drivers are available for many services, which can make the arrival experience easier for international travellers. While Mexico City is welcoming and well connected, communication at busy terminals or taxi counters is not always effortless after a long flight. Having a pre-arranged driver with clear booking details reduces stress and saves time.

Why Book a Private Airport Transfer Instead of a Regular Taxi?

Regular taxis can work well for simple point-to-point trips, but airport arrivals are often less predictable. Passengers may need to find the correct authorized desk, select a service type, manage luggage, confirm the destination and wait for vehicle allocation. During busy periods, queues and traffic around the terminal can add extra time.

With a pre-booked transfer, the service is arranged before you land. The route, destination, passenger count, luggage and any special requests are known in advance. This is particularly helpful in Mexico City, where traffic conditions vary widely and many addresses are located inside gated residential areas, business complexes, hotel zones or large urban districts.

A private transfer is also a good choice when travelling with children, senior passengers, valuable equipment, sports luggage or multiple bags. Instead of adapting to the vehicle available at the airport, you can book a class that better matches your group and luggage needs. For business travellers, a chauffeur service from MEX offers a more discreet and professional arrival experience.

Chauffeur Service in Mexico City

Mexico City is not only a transfer destination but also a major business, cultural and diplomatic centre. Many travellers need transportation for more than a single airport ride. WelcomeTaxi can arrange chauffeur service for meetings, roadshows, conferences, restaurant transfers, private events, shopping, sightseeing and multi-stop itineraries within the city.

Hourly chauffeur service is useful when the schedule includes several appointments or when the exact timing may change during the day. Instead of booking separate rides between every stop, you can keep the same vehicle and driver for the agreed period. This works especially well for business districts such as Polanco, Reforma, Santa Fe and Lomas de Chapultepec, as well as cultural visits to Coyoacán, Chapultepec, Xochimilco or the historic centre.

Long-Distance Transfers from Mexico City Airport

MEX is also a practical starting point for long-distance private transfers across central Mexico. Popular regional routes include Mexico City Airport to Puebla, Querétaro, Cuernavaca, Toluca, San Miguel de Allende, Teotihuacán and nearby resort or business destinations. For travellers who prefer not to rent a car or navigate intercity roads after a flight, a pre-booked long-distance transfer provides a comfortable door-to-door solution.

Long-distance transfers are especially useful when the final destination is outside the city or not directly connected by convenient public transport. Instead of changing between airport transport, bus terminals and local taxis, passengers can travel directly from the arrivals terminal to their hotel, residence, factory, campus or event venue.

Local Transportation Specifics at MEX

Mexico City International Airport has two main passenger terminals, and it is important to check the correct terminal before pickup or departure. Terminal changes can take time, especially with luggage or during periods of heavy traffic around the airport. For transfers, accurate flight details and terminal information help the driver plan the pickup more efficiently.

Traffic in Mexico City can be intense, particularly on weekday mornings and evenings. Journeys to western and south-western districts such as Santa Fe, Interlomas, Pedregal or Coyoacán may take longer than expected at peak times. For departures from the city to MEX, it is wise to allow extra time, especially for international flights, large groups or hotel pickups in congested areas.

Mexico City also has several airports serving the wider metropolitan region. Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU) is located north of the city and is used by a growing number of domestic and international flights. Toluca International Airport (TLC), west of Mexico City, is another regional airport option. When booking a transfer, always check the IATA code on your ticket, as MEX, NLU and TLC are different airports with significantly different travel times.

Useful Travel Information for Arrivals

For a smooth arrival at Mexico City International Airport, keep your phone active after landing, check your terminal, and make sure the booking name and passenger contact details are correct. If you are travelling with oversized luggage, child seats, pets, sports equipment or a large number of suitcases, these details should be provided in advance so the correct vehicle can be arranged.

Visitors should also remember that Mexico City sits at a high altitude, so it can take time to adjust after a long flight. A direct private transfer to your hotel is often more comfortable than navigating public transport immediately on arrival. For early morning departures or late-night arrivals, pre-booking is particularly valuable because it removes uncertainty and helps ensure that transport is ready when needed.

WelcomeTaxi offers international private transfer and chauffeur service for travellers who value clear arrangements, reliable pickup planning and comfortable door-to-door transportation. From short airport transfers to long-distance routes across central Mexico, pre-booked service from MEX helps make the first and last part of the journey easier.
