Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Private Transportation in Mexico City and Central Mexico

Mexico City is the capital of Mexico and one of the largest cultural, financial and commercial centres in the Americas. The metropolitan area extends far beyond the historic centre and includes numerous business districts, residential neighbourhoods, tourist areas and surrounding municipalities.

Visitors travel to Mexico City for business meetings, conferences, cultural attractions, medical appointments, sporting events and connections to other parts of the country. Its size and traffic conditions can make transportation planning an important part of the journey, particularly when travelling between an airport and a distant district.

WelcomeTaxi offers pre-booked private transfers and chauffeur services for travellers who prefer to arrange their transportation in advance. Services may include an airport pickup, a direct transfer between addresses, an hourly booking with several stops or a long-distance journey to another city.

Mexico City Airport Transfers

The Mexico City metropolitan area is served by three airports commonly used by local and international passengers: Mexico City International Airport (MEX), Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU) and Toluca International Airport (TLC). These airports are situated in different parts of the wider region and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Passengers should always check the IATA code shown on their ticket before booking a transfer. Selecting the wrong airport can result in a substantial additional journey, as travel between MEX, NLU and TLC may take considerable time depending on traffic and road conditions.

Mexico City International Airport Transfers

Mexico City International Airport (MEX), officially named Benito Juárez International Airport, is the principal airport serving the capital. It is located within the urban area and has two passenger terminals.

A private transfer can be arranged from either terminal to hotels, apartments, offices and private residences throughout Mexico City. Frequently requested destinations include the Historic Centre, Reforma, Polanco, Condesa, Roma Norte, Santa Fe, Coyoacán, Del Valle and the areas surrounding major conference and exhibition venues.

Passengers should provide their flight number and terminal when booking. Although Terminals 1 and 2 belong to the same airport, they have separate arrival areas and road access. Accurate information allows the driver to prepare for the correct pickup location.

Transfers from the city to MEX can also be booked for departing flights. Pickup time should allow for unpredictable congestion, airline check-in requirements and the time needed to reach the correct terminal.

Felipe Ángeles International Airport Transfers

Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU), commonly known as AIFA, is located north of Mexico City in the State of Mexico. It handles domestic and international flights and forms part of the wider airport network serving the capital region.

Because NLU is situated outside central Mexico City, the road journey can be significantly longer than a transfer from MEX. The actual duration depends on the passenger’s destination, the selected route and traffic across the metropolitan area.

Private transfers can be arranged between NLU and central Mexico City, business districts, hotels and surrounding municipalities. They are particularly useful for passengers arriving with several suitcases, travelling as a family or continuing to an address that is not conveniently connected by public transport.

Passengers connecting between NLU and another airport should provide both flight schedules and allow a generous interval. Airport-to-airport transfers cross a large urban region, and journey times cannot be predicted from distance alone.

Toluca International Airport Transfers

Toluca International Airport (TLC), officially Licenciado Adolfo López Mateos International Airport, is located west of Mexico City near Toluca. It may be used for selected commercial services, charter flights and private aviation.

TLC can be convenient for passengers travelling to Toluca, Santa Fe or western parts of the metropolitan area. However, journeys to central or eastern Mexico City involve mountain roads and may be affected by congestion on the principal routes between Toluca and the capital.

WelcomeTaxi can arrange transfers from TLC to Mexico City hotels, offices and private residences. Transportation may also be booked directly from the airport to destinations elsewhere in the State of Mexico.

Airport Meet-and-Greet Service

A meet-and-greet service may be requested for airport arrivals. With this option, the driver waits in the designated arrivals area with a passenger name sign, making it easier to identify the correct representative.

This service can be especially convenient at a busy airport, for first-time visitors, corporate guests and passengers who do not speak Spanish. Complete flight details and an active mobile telephone number should be provided so that the pickup can be coordinated efficiently.

Chauffeur Service in Mexico City

An hourly chauffeur service is suitable for travellers who need to visit several locations during the same day. Instead of arranging a separate taxi for every journey, passengers can reserve a private vehicle with a driver for an agreed period.

Chauffeur hire may be used for business meetings, corporate roadshows, embassy appointments, conferences, shopping, restaurant visits, medical travel and sightseeing. The service is also useful when the itinerary includes waiting time or may change as the day progresses.

Mexico City covers a vast area, and appointments may be located in districts separated by substantial travel times. A business itinerary could include meetings in Polanco, Reforma and Santa Fe, while a sightseeing route might combine the Historic Centre, Chapultepec, Coyoacán and other locations.

Providing the itinerary in advance helps the driver plan a realistic route. Passengers should avoid scheduling consecutive appointments too closely, particularly during weekday commuting periods.

Corporate and Executive Transportation

Mexico City is home to major corporate headquarters, government institutions, embassies, financial companies and international convention venues. Private transportation can be arranged for executives, visiting partners, event participants and company guests.

A service may include airport pickup, hotel transportation, several meetings and an evening return. Where multiple vehicles are required, passenger names, flight details and separate schedules should be submitted in advance to simplify coordination.

Getting Around Mexico City

Mexico City has an extensive public transportation network, including the Metro, Metrobús, buses and other urban services. Public transport can be practical for independent travellers moving between well-connected central districts.

However, it may be less convenient for passengers carrying luggage, families with children, larger groups or travellers unfamiliar with the city. Some business and residential areas are located far from a convenient station, and transfers between different transport systems may be difficult after a long flight.

Local taxis and ride-hailing services are widely available, but pickup locations, vehicle size and availability can vary. Demand may increase during rush hours, major events and heavy rain. A pre-booked private transfer provides an agreed pickup plan and a vehicle selected according to the stated passenger and luggage requirements.

Popular Destinations Within Mexico City

Private transportation can be arranged to the city’s main tourist, business and residential areas. The Historic Centre contains the Zócalo, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Palace and numerous museums and historic buildings.

Paseo de la Reforma connects several important districts and landmarks, including the Angel of Independence and the areas around Chapultepec. Polanco is known for luxury hotels, restaurants, offices and shopping, while Roma and Condesa are popular for architecture, cafés and nightlife.

Coyoacán, in the southern part of the city, attracts visitors to its historic streets, markets and museums. Other frequent destinations include the National Auditorium, the Expo Santa Fe area, the World Trade Center, universities, hospitals and sporting venues.

For sightseeing, passengers may reserve an hourly chauffeur service and provide their preferred stops. The driver offers transportation and normal journey assistance but does not replace a licensed professional guide unless a separate guiding service has been specifically arranged.

Transfers to Teotihuacan

The archaeological site of Teotihuacan is one of the most popular destinations outside Mexico City. Private transportation offers a direct journey from a hotel or private address without the need to navigate bus terminals or join a shared excursion.

A service can be arranged as a direct transfer or as part of a chauffeur booking with waiting time. Passengers should specify whether they require only one-way transportation, a return pickup at a fixed time or a vehicle remaining available during the visit.

Long-Distance Transfers from Mexico City

Mexico City is a major starting point for road travel throughout central Mexico. A long-distance private transfer provides door-to-door transportation without fixed bus schedules, shared seating or unnecessary intermediate stops.

Mexico City to Puebla

Puebla is a historic city east of the capital and a frequent destination for tourism, business and university travel. Private transfers can be arranged from any of the three metropolitan airports or from a hotel and private address in Mexico City.

Traffic when leaving the capital and road conditions along the route can affect journey time. Passengers travelling to an appointment or onward connection should include a reasonable allowance.

Mexico City to Cuernavaca

Cuernavaca is located south of Mexico City and is known for its mild climate, residential areas and event venues. Transfers can be booked directly to hotels, private homes, wedding locations and business addresses.

The route passes through elevated terrain, and travel time can vary during weekends and holiday periods when many residents leave or return to the capital.

Mexico City to Querétaro

Querétaro is an important industrial, commercial and historic destination north-west of Mexico City. A private transfer is suitable for corporate passengers visiting factories and offices as well as travellers staying in the historic centre.

Transportation can be arranged from Mexico City, MEX, NLU or TLC. The exact pickup airport may have a considerable effect on the route and total journey time.

Mexico City to San Miguel de Allende

San Miguel de Allende is one of central Mexico’s best-known leisure and cultural destinations. A direct private transfer is convenient for travellers carrying luggage or staying at accommodation away from intercity bus terminals.

Pickup can be arranged from a Mexico City hotel or any of the metropolitan airports. Passengers should provide the full hotel or property address because accommodation may be located outside the historic centre or in an area with restricted vehicle access.

Mexico City to Taxco

Taxco is a historic hillside city south-west of the capital. The final section of the journey includes winding and steep roads, so travel time may be longer than expected from the distance alone.

Passengers should provide precise accommodation details, particularly when staying in the historic centre, where road access and parking can be limited.

Why Pre-Book Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?

A regular taxi may be suitable for an immediate short journey, but it may not provide sufficient space for several passengers and their luggage. Airport taxi arrangements and fares may also differ between terminals and airports.

With a pre-booked private transfer, the pickup location, destination, date, time and vehicle category are agreed in advance. The driver receives the journey details before the service, reducing the need to explain a complex route or negotiate after arrival.

Advance booking is especially useful for transfers from NLU or TLC, early departures, groups, business schedules and journeys to another city. Child seats, additional stops and unusually large luggage should also be requested beforehand.

Vehicles for Individuals, Families and Groups

Different vehicle categories can be arranged depending on local availability. Sedans are suitable for individual travellers, couples and small parties with limited luggage. Minivans and vans provide additional passenger and baggage capacity for families and corporate groups.

Minibuses and coaches may be requested for conferences, organised tours, weddings and other larger movements. Passengers should provide both the total number of travellers and the number of suitcases, as seating capacity alone does not guarantee enough luggage space.

Pushchairs, wheelchairs, sports equipment and oversized bags should be declared in advance. This allows the proposed vehicle to be matched to the actual transportation requirements.

Useful Travel Information

Traffic is one of the most important considerations when planning transportation in Mexico City. Journey times can change significantly according to the time of day, weather, roadworks, demonstrations and major public events.

Passengers travelling to an airport or important appointment should not rely on the fastest journey time shown by a map application. A suitable allowance should be included for congestion, hotel loading procedures and access to terminals or large commercial buildings.

Mexico City is located at a high elevation. Some visitors may need time to adjust, particularly after a long flight. Comfortable door-to-door transportation can reduce unnecessary walking with luggage immediately after arrival.

Spanish is the principal language, while English proficiency varies among local drivers. WelcomeTaxi can request an English-speaking driver to make essential pickup and journey communication easier.

Booking a Mexico City Transfer

To request transportation, provide the complete pickup and drop-off locations, date, time, number of passengers and total luggage. Airport bookings must include the correct airport code, terminal and flight number.

For hourly chauffeur hire, include the planned stops and estimated duration. Long-distance requests should specify the complete destination address, any additional stops and relevant timing requirements.

Advance booking is strongly recommended for NLU and TLC transfers, groups, child seats, premium vehicles, multi-stop itineraries and journeys outside the metropolitan area. Accurate information helps ensure that the proposed service and vehicle match the passenger’s needs.
