Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Oslo Airport

Oslo Airport (OSL), officially Oslo Airport and often referred to as Oslo Gardermoen Airport, is the main gateway to Oslo and one of the most important airports in Norway. Located north of the city, it serves international and domestic flights and connects the Norwegian capital with major European cities, long-haul destinations and regional airports across the country.

For many visitors, Oslo Airport is the first point of contact with Norway. The airport is modern, efficient and well connected, but the journey from OSL to Oslo city centre or to destinations outside the capital still requires planning. Depending on your arrival time, luggage, group size and final address, you can choose between trains, buses, regular taxis, rental cars and pre-booked private airport transfers.

WelcomeTaxi provides private transfers from Oslo Airport to Oslo, surrounding municipalities, cruise terminals, hotels, ski areas and long-distance destinations in Norway. The service is designed for travelers who prefer a predictable pickup, a fixed route, a private vehicle and a professional driver instead of searching for transport after arrival.

Getting from Oslo Airport to Oslo City Centre

Oslo Airport is located in Gardermoen, north of central Oslo. The route to the city is straightforward, but travel conditions can vary depending on the time of day, weather and final drop-off point. Oslo has a compact centre, but hotels, offices and residential areas are spread across different districts such as Sentrum, Aker Brygge, Frogner, Grünerløkka, Majorstuen, Nydalen and Fornebu.

Public transport is a strong option for many passengers. The Airport Express Train and regular regional trains connect the airport with Oslo Central Station, which is convenient if your accommodation is close to the station and you travel with light luggage. Airport buses may also be useful for certain districts or hotels, although they usually take longer and may require checking timetables in advance.

Regular taxis are available at the airport, but prices in Norway can be high compared with many other countries. The final cost may depend on the route, traffic, time of day and taxi company. For first-time visitors, families, business travelers or passengers arriving late in the evening, a pre-booked private transfer can be a more comfortable and transparent solution.

Private Airport Transfers from OSL

A private airport transfer from Oslo Airport means that your vehicle is arranged before you land. Your driver meets you according to the confirmed pickup details, assists with the transfer and takes you directly to your destination. There is no need to compare taxi lines, look for the correct train platform or manage luggage across public transport connections.

This is especially useful for travelers arriving with children, ski equipment, several suitcases or after a long flight. It is also practical for passengers staying outside the immediate city centre, where public transport may involve a train plus tram, metro, bus or taxi connection. With WelcomeTaxi, the transfer is planned as a door-to-door service from the airport to your exact address.

Private transfers from OSL can be booked for solo travelers, couples, families, groups and business passengers. Depending on availability and route requirements, vehicle options may include sedans, SUVs, vans and minibuses. For corporate clients, a private transfer also helps create a smoother arrival experience for guests, speakers, employees or partners visiting Oslo.

Chauffeur Service in Oslo and Norway

In addition to simple airport transfers, WelcomeTaxi can arrange chauffeur service from Oslo Airport for hourly bookings, business meetings, conferences, diplomatic visits, private events and sightseeing itineraries. A chauffeur service is a good choice when you need a driver and vehicle to remain available instead of completing only one point-to-point transfer.

Oslo is a popular destination for business travel, government visits, technology events, maritime companies, energy-sector meetings and academic conferences. A pre-booked chauffeur can help keep the day organized, especially when several stops are planned across the city or in nearby business areas such as Lysaker, Fornebu, Skøyen and Sandvika.

For leisure travelers, chauffeur service may be useful for visiting museums, waterfront areas, viewpoints, restaurants or nearby nature spots without depending on local taxi availability. English-speaking drivers make the experience easier for international guests who want clear communication during pickup, routing and drop-off.

Long-Distance Transfers from Oslo Airport

Norway is a country of long distances, and Oslo Airport is often used as a starting point for travel beyond the capital. WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance transfers from OSL to regional towns, ski resorts, fjord areas, cruise ports and private addresses. This can be useful when public transport schedules do not match your flight, when you travel with luggage, or when the final destination is not easily reached by train.

Popular long-distance routes from Oslo Airport may include transfers to Lillehammer, Hamar, Drammen, Fredrikstad, Tønsberg, Sandefjord, Geilo, Hemsedal, Trysil and other destinations in southern and eastern Norway. Some routes are seasonal, especially during winter travel to ski resorts or summer trips to nature destinations and coastal towns.

For longer journeys, a pre-booked transfer gives you a clear plan before arrival. Instead of combining airport rail, local train, buses and taxis, you can travel directly in a private vehicle. This is particularly valuable for families, groups, travelers with sports equipment and passengers arriving on evening flights.

Transport Options from Oslo Airport

Train

The train is one of the fastest ways to reach central Oslo from OSL. It is a good option for passengers traveling alone or with light luggage and staying close to Oslo Central Station or another rail-connected stop. However, it may be less convenient if your hotel is not near a station, if you have several bags, or if you arrive with children after a long flight.

Airport Bus

Airport buses connect Oslo Airport with selected districts, hotels and transport hubs. They can be useful when the route matches your destination, but travel time may be longer than by train or private car. Bus schedules should also be checked carefully, especially for early morning or late-night arrivals.

Regular Taxi

Taxis are available at Oslo Airport, but Norway is known for relatively expensive taxi services. Different companies may have different price structures, and the final fare can vary. A taxi can work well for spontaneous travel, but it may not offer the same level of planning, vehicle control and price predictability as a pre-booked transfer.

Rental Car

Car rental may be suitable for travelers planning a road trip through Norway. For visitors staying mainly in Oslo, however, a rental car is often unnecessary because parking can be expensive and city driving may be inconvenient. For many airport arrivals, a private transfer is simpler than renting a car immediately after a flight.

Private Transfer

A private transfer is usually the most comfortable option when convenience, luggage handling and direct routing matter. It is also a strong choice for business arrivals, families, late flights, winter travel and long-distance routes from OSL to destinations outside Oslo.

Why Pre-Book a Transfer from Oslo Airport?

Pre-booking your airport transfer gives you a confirmed transport plan before you arrive in Norway. This is important in a destination where taxi prices can be high, public transport may not take you directly to your address, and weather conditions can make spontaneous travel less comfortable.

With WelcomeTaxi, you can arrange the required vehicle class in advance and choose a service that fits your route, passenger count and luggage. Your transfer is private, so you do not share the vehicle with strangers or wait for other passengers. The driver takes you directly to your destination, whether it is a hotel in central Oslo, an office in Fornebu, a cruise terminal, a private residence or a resort outside the city.

For international travelers, English-speaking drivers are another advantage. Clear communication helps during arrival, especially if there are questions about pickup location, luggage, hotel entrances or road conditions. A pre-booked chauffeur service also gives travel managers and assistants a more reliable way to organize airport arrivals for VIPs, executives and groups.

Useful Travel Information for Oslo Airport

Oslo Airport is modern and efficient, with clear signage, rail connections, shops, restaurants and airport services. Still, passengers should allow enough time for winter travel, peak arrival periods and longer routes outside the capital. Weather in Norway can change quickly, especially during the colder months, and road conditions may affect journey times on regional transfers.

For arrivals into Oslo, it is useful to provide the full destination address, hotel name, flight number and passenger contact details when booking. For long-distance transfers, details about luggage, skis, child seats or additional stops are also important. This helps match the right vehicle and avoid delays at the airport.

Whether you are visiting Oslo for business, tourism, a cruise, a ski holiday or a longer journey through Norway, WelcomeTaxi offers a practical alternative to regular taxis and public transport. From private airport transfers to chauffeur service and long-distance travel, the service is built around comfort, clarity and reliable planning from Oslo Airport.
