Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.
What Our Customers Say
United Kingdom
Highly recommended taxi service
Private Transport in Oslo and Eastern Norway
Oslo is the capital of Norway and the country’s main centre for government, business, culture and international travel. Located at the northern end of the Oslofjord, the city combines a compact urban centre with modern waterfront districts, residential neighbourhoods, forests and nearby coastal communities. Visitors come to Oslo for corporate events, city breaks, cruises, winter activities and onward journeys through Eastern Norway.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers and chauffeur service for individual travellers, families, business passengers and organised groups. A private vehicle offers a direct journey between the requested addresses without the need to change trains, carry luggage through stations or search for a taxi after arrival.
Services can be arranged between Oslo’s airports, hotels, offices, private residences, railway stations and cruise terminals. Long-distance transfers are also available for passengers travelling beyond the capital to regional destinations throughout Norway.
Oslo Airport Transfers
Transfers from Oslo Airport, Gardermoen (OSL)
Oslo Airport, Gardermoen is the principal international airport serving Oslo and the busiest air gateway in Norway. It handles domestic and international flights and is located north of the capital. Passengers arriving at OSL can continue to central Oslo by train, bus, taxi or private airport transfer.
Rail connections are practical for travellers heading to stations in the city centre, but they may be less convenient when travelling with children, several suitcases, sports equipment or a larger group. A private airport transfer provides a door-to-door journey from the terminal to the final address, including hotels in central Oslo, apartments, business locations and destinations outside the public transport network.
Pre-booking is particularly useful for arrivals late in the evening, early departures, family trips and journeys involving several passengers. The selected vehicle can be matched to the number of passengers and the expected luggage, reducing the risk of needing multiple taxis at the airport.
Transfers from TORP Sandefjord Airport (TRF)
TORP Sandefjord Airport is a secondary airport used by passengers travelling to Oslo and other parts of southeastern Norway. It is located considerably farther from the capital than Oslo Airport, Gardermoen. Public transport options include airport buses and a connection between the terminal and the nearby railway station.
A private transfer from TRF is an attractive alternative when passengers prefer a direct journey to Oslo without waiting for scheduled services or changing between a shuttle and a train. It can also be convenient for destinations such as Drammen, Tønsberg, Sandefjord and other towns around the western side of the Oslofjord.
Because the journey between TORP and Oslo is relatively long, arranging the transfer in advance gives travellers a clear pickup plan and a vehicle suitable for the full distance.
Chauffeur Service in Oslo
A professional chauffeur service provides flexible private transportation within Oslo and the surrounding region. It can be booked for business meetings, conferences, diplomatic visits, corporate programmes, weddings, private events and sightseeing itineraries.
Hourly chauffeur hire is useful when the passenger needs to make several stops or when the exact finishing time cannot be predicted. The driver and vehicle remain available for the agreed booking period, allowing the itinerary to include offices, hotels, restaurants, event venues and visitor attractions.
Business travellers may use a chauffeured car for appointments in central Oslo, Bjørvika, Aker Brygge, Fornebu and other commercial areas. The service can also connect Oslo Airport with a meeting venue before continuing to a hotel or another appointment.
For leisure travellers, a private vehicle makes it easier to combine attractions located in different parts of the city. An itinerary may include the Oslo Opera House, the Royal Palace area, the Vigeland sculpture park, museums at Bygdøy and the waterfront districts without repeatedly arranging separate taxis.
Transfers to Oslo Hotels, Cruise Terminals and Stations
Private transfers can be arranged to hotels throughout central Oslo and neighbourhoods outside the immediate city centre. Door-to-door service is particularly helpful in winter, during wet weather or when travelling with bulky luggage.
Oslo is also an important cruise destination. Passengers beginning or ending a cruise may require transportation between the airport, a hotel and the relevant cruise terminal. Pre-booking helps coordinate these separate stages and ensures that the chosen vehicle has enough luggage capacity for the group.
Transfers are also available to and from Oslo Central Station and other railway stations. This can be useful for travellers continuing by train to destinations elsewhere in Norway or arriving in Oslo after a regional rail journey.
Long-Distance Transfers from Oslo
Norway has an extensive public transport network, but direct private transportation remains valuable for routes involving remote hotels, ski resorts, multiple passengers or destinations that require several connections. WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance transfers from Oslo to towns and regions across Eastern and Southern Norway.
Popular regional journeys may include Drammen, Hønefoss, Kongsberg, Lillehammer, Fredrikstad, Sarpsborg, Tønsberg and destinations around the Oslofjord. Transfers can also be organised between Oslo and mountain resorts, conference hotels, ferry ports and countryside properties.
A long-distance private transfer allows passengers to travel at a convenient departure time and stop when necessary. This is especially practical for families, senior travellers, corporate groups and passengers carrying skis or additional luggage.
For very long routes, travel time, road conditions and seasonal factors should be considered when planning the itinerary. Winter weather can affect driving times, particularly outside the main urban corridors. Booking in advance gives sufficient time to select an appropriate vehicle and confirm the operational details.
Getting Around Oslo
Oslo has trains, metro services, trams, buses and ferries, making public transportation a useful option for many journeys. The city centre is relatively compact, and several major landmarks can be reached on foot. However, accommodation, meeting venues and residential districts may be spread across a wider area.
Public transport is generally suitable for travellers with simple itineraries and limited luggage. A private vehicle becomes more practical when the journey involves several addresses, strict timing, a larger group or areas outside the central transport network.
Road traffic can vary during weekday commuting periods and around major events. Passengers travelling to the airport, a cruise departure or an important meeting should allow a reasonable time margin. In winter, snow and icy conditions may also affect journey duration.
Why Pre-Book a Transfer Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?
A regular taxi may be suitable for a short spontaneous journey, but pre-booked transportation provides more certainty for airport pickups and planned travel. The booking includes the route, date, pickup time, passenger number and vehicle requirements before the journey begins.
This is valuable when a standard taxi may not have enough luggage space or seating capacity. Families can request suitable child-seat arrangements in advance, while groups can reserve a van or minibus rather than dividing passengers between several cars.
Pre-booked transfers also simplify travel from TORP Sandefjord Airport, regional destinations and private addresses where finding an available taxi may be less predictable. Instead of arranging each stage after arrival, passengers receive one coordinated door-to-door service.
An English-speaking driver can assist with basic communication during the journey, which is helpful for international visitors unfamiliar with Norwegian place names, local routes or pickup procedures.
Vehicle Options for Oslo Transfers
Vehicle selection depends on the number of passengers, luggage requirements and preferred level of comfort. Sedans are suitable for individuals, couples and small groups, while larger vehicles are available for families and passengers carrying more luggage.
Vans and minibuses can be arranged for corporate groups, cruise passengers, event transportation and extended families. Premium vehicles may be selected for executive travel, formal events and chauffeur bookings where presentation and additional comfort are priorities.
Passengers should provide accurate information about suitcases, child seats and oversized items when requesting a quotation. This helps ensure that the proposed vehicle has sufficient capacity and avoids operational problems on the day of travel.
Planning Your Oslo Transfer
To arrange a private transfer, provide the complete pickup and drop-off addresses, travel date, requested pickup time, passenger number and luggage quantity. For airport arrivals, include the flight details. Cruise passengers should provide the vessel name and terminal information when available.
For chauffeur hire, it is helpful to describe the planned itinerary, expected duration and any stops. Long-distance requests should include the final destination and any intermediate locations so that the journey can be priced and planned correctly.
WelcomeTaxi offers international private transfer and chauffeur services for travel in Oslo and throughout Norway. Advance booking provides a straightforward way to organise airport transportation, city journeys and regional travel with a suitable vehicle and a professional driver.
