Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Sabiha Gökçen Airport
Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW) is one of the two main airports serving Istanbul, Turkey. Located on the Asian side of the city, it is an important gateway for domestic flights, regional routes, low-cost airlines, and international travel. For many passengers staying in Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Ataşehir, Maltepe, Bostancı, Pendik, Tuzla, or other districts on the Asian side, SAW is the most convenient airport in Istanbul.
At the same time, Sabiha Gökçen Airport is also used by travelers heading to the European side of Istanbul, the historic city center, the Bosphorus, business districts, cruise terminals, and nearby cities in northwestern Turkey. Because Istanbul is a very large and busy city, planning transportation from SAW in advance is especially important.
WelcomeTaxi provides private airport transfers and chauffeur service from Sabiha Gökçen Airport for individual travelers, families, corporate passengers, and groups. A pre-booked transfer gives passengers a reserved vehicle, a clear pickup arrangement, and a direct route to the final destination.
Getting from Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Istanbul
Sabiha Gökçen Airport is located in the Pendik area on the Asian side of Istanbul. Travel time from the airport depends on the destination, traffic, time of day, and whether the journey stays on the Asian side or crosses to the European side. Transfers to nearby Asian-side districts may be relatively straightforward, while trips to Taksim, Sultanahmet, Beşiktaş, Levent, Şişli, Karaköy, Galata, or Istanbul Airport can take much longer.
Transportation options from SAW include public transport, airport buses, regular taxis, car rental, and pre-booked private transfers. Each option can work in different situations, but for passengers with luggage, children, a late arrival, an early departure, or an unfamiliar address, a private airport transfer is often the most practical choice.
Public Transport from SAW
Sabiha Gökçen Airport is connected to Istanbul’s public transport network. Metro and bus services can be useful for travelers who are familiar with the city and travel light. Public transport is usually the cheapest option, but it may require transfers between metro lines, buses, ferries, trams, or taxis to reach the final address.
This can be inconvenient after a long flight, especially for first-time visitors, families, elderly passengers, or travelers carrying several suitcases. Some hotels and private addresses are not close to a station, and walking through busy streets with luggage can make the arrival less comfortable.
Airport Buses and Shared Transport
Airport bus services connect Sabiha Gökçen Airport with selected districts in Istanbul. They can be suitable for solo travelers whose destination is close to a bus stop. However, buses follow fixed routes and schedules, and they do not provide door-to-door service.
For passengers staying in a hotel, private apartment, business address, hospital, university, or residential district, an airport bus may only cover part of the journey. After reaching the city stop, travelers may still need another taxi or public transport connection. A private transfer avoids this extra step and takes passengers directly from the airport to the final destination.
Regular Taxis from Sabiha Gökçen Airport
Regular taxis are available at Sabiha Gökçen Airport, but the overall experience can vary depending on traffic, destination, luggage, language, and route. Istanbul’s geography can make taxi rides complex, especially when crossing between the Asian and European sides. Bridge crossings, toll roads, congestion, and access restrictions may all affect the journey.
For short and simple trips, a regular taxi may be enough. For longer routes, airport-to-airport transfers, hotel arrivals, business trips, or travel with extra luggage, a pre-booked private transfer is usually more predictable. The driver receives the destination details in advance, the vehicle is selected according to the passenger requirements, and the journey is planned before arrival.
Private Transfers from Sabiha Gökçen Airport
WelcomeTaxi arranges private transfers from Sabiha Gökçen Airport to all main areas of Istanbul. Popular routes include transfers from SAW to Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Ataşehir, Bostancı, Maltepe, Kartal, Pendik, Tuzla, Taksim, Sultanahmet, Beşiktaş, Galata, Karaköy, Şişli, Levent, Maslak, and the Bosphorus districts.
A private airport transfer is especially useful for passengers who want to avoid waiting in taxi lines, managing public transport connections, or explaining the destination after landing. The service is arranged before the trip, so travelers can continue from the airport to their hotel, residence, office, or event venue in a more organized way.
Depending on the route and group size, transfers may be arranged with sedans, business cars, minivans, vans, or minibuses. This is important in Istanbul, where luggage capacity and passenger comfort can make a big difference, especially for families, small groups, and long-distance journeys.
Chauffeur Service in Istanbul from SAW
Many passengers arriving at Sabiha Gökçen Airport need more than a simple one-way transfer. Istanbul is a major destination for business travel, medical tourism, conferences, shopping, cultural visits, and private events. A chauffeur service from SAW can be arranged for travelers who need a vehicle and driver for several hours or a full day.
Hourly chauffeur service is useful for business meetings on both sides of the city, hotel visits, shopping programs, restaurant transfers, sightseeing routes, or multi-stop itineraries. Instead of booking separate rides throughout the day, travelers can keep the same vehicle and driver for a more comfortable and efficient schedule.
This can be particularly valuable in Istanbul, where traffic conditions can change quickly and distances between districts are often longer than they appear on the map. A dedicated chauffeur service gives passengers more flexibility and helps reduce the stress of arranging transport between multiple appointments.
Transfers between Sabiha Gökçen Airport and Istanbul Airport
Istanbul has two major passenger airports: Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW) on the Asian side and Istanbul Airport (IST) on the European side. Airport-to-airport transfers between SAW and IST are common for passengers with separate tickets, domestic connections, international departures, or route changes between airlines.
The journey between the two airports is long and can be strongly affected by traffic, bridge crossings, and time of day. A private transfer is one of the most convenient ways to travel between SAW and IST because it provides direct terminal-to-terminal transportation without changing buses, metro lines, or taxis.
For airport connections, passengers should always allow a generous time buffer. Istanbul traffic can be unpredictable, and the distance between SAW and IST should not be underestimated. Pre-booking the transfer helps make the connection more organized and reduces the risk of delays caused by searching for transport after arrival.
Regional and Long-Distance Transfers from SAW
Sabiha Gökçen Airport is a practical starting point for regional and long-distance transfers on the Asian side of Istanbul and beyond. Travelers may book private transfers from SAW to destinations such as Bursa, Yalova, İzmit, Kocaeli, Gebze, Sapanca, Sakarya, Bolu, or other towns and resort areas depending on the itinerary.
For some regional journeys, public transport may require several changes between airport buses, metro, ferries, intercity buses, and local taxis. A private long-distance transfer offers a direct door-to-door solution, which is especially helpful after a long flight or when traveling with family, luggage, or business equipment.
Long-distance transfers can also be useful for travelers arriving in Istanbul but continuing directly to meetings, thermal resorts, coastal destinations, ski areas, industrial zones, or private addresses outside the city. With WelcomeTaxi, the route can be arranged in advance so the journey starts smoothly from the airport.
Why Pre-Book a Transfer from Sabiha Gökçen Airport?
Pre-booking a transfer from Sabiha Gökçen Airport offers several practical advantages over arranging transportation after landing. The pickup details are confirmed in advance, the destination is already known, and the vehicle is selected according to the number of passengers and luggage.
This is especially important in Istanbul, where travel times can vary widely and some journeys require crossing from one continent to another. A pre-booked private transfer helps avoid uncertainty, language barriers, luggage problems, and last-minute decisions at the airport.
For families, corporate travelers, elderly passengers, and visitors arriving late at night, a private transfer provides a more comfortable and predictable experience. It is also a good option for passengers who need English-speaking drivers, larger vehicles, child seats, or long-distance routes that may not be convenient by regular taxi.
Useful Travel Information for SAW Arrivals
Passengers arriving at Sabiha Gökçen Airport should allow enough time for passport control, baggage claim, and walking through the terminal. Although SAW is generally more compact than Istanbul Airport, it can still be busy during peak travel periods, holidays, and weekends.
When booking a private airport transfer, it is important to provide the correct flight number, arrival date, passenger contact details, exact destination address, and luggage information. Istanbul has many hotels with similar names, and some streets or neighborhoods may exist in different districts. A complete address helps avoid confusion and makes the pickup more efficient.
Travelers departing from SAW should also plan carefully. Traffic from the European side or central Istanbul to Sabiha Gökçen Airport can be heavy, particularly during rush hours and around bridge crossings. A pre-booked departure transfer helps make the journey to the airport more controlled and gives passengers a clear pickup time.
