Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from London Southend Airport
London Southend Airport (SEN) is located in Essex, east of London, close to Southend-on-Sea. Although it is farther from Central London than some of the capital's other airports, it provides a useful gateway for passengers travelling to East London, Essex and destinations across the southeast of England.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private airport transfers from Southend Airport to hotels, residential addresses, business locations, railway stations and destinations throughout the United Kingdom. A private transfer is particularly useful for passengers carrying luggage, families, groups and travellers continuing to a destination that is not conveniently reached by direct public transport.
Getting from Southend Airport to London
Passengers arriving at London Southend Airport can travel towards London by train, bus, taxi or private car. The most suitable option depends on the final destination, luggage requirements, group size and preferred level of comfort.
Train to Stratford and Liverpool Street
Southend Airport has its own railway station directly opposite the terminal building. Trains connect the airport with Stratford and London Liverpool Street, making rail a practical option for passengers travelling into East or Central London.
The journey takes approximately 44 minutes to Stratford and around 52 minutes to London Liverpool Street. From these stations, passengers can continue by Underground, Elizabeth line, bus, taxi or other rail services to destinations throughout London.
Rail travel is particularly convenient for solo travellers with light luggage. Passengers staying far from the railway route, travelling as a family or carrying several bags may find a direct private transfer more convenient.
Bus and Coach Services
Local and regional buses connect London Southend Airport with Southend-on-Sea and communities across Essex. Services include links towards Rayleigh, Leigh-on-Sea, Chelmsford and, at selected times, Stansted Airport.
Bus travel can be useful for local journeys, but passengers travelling directly to a London hotel or another distant destination may prefer the simplicity of a pre-booked car.
Taxis and Private Transfers
Taxis are available outside the terminal. They provide direct road transport without the need to change trains, although passengers arranging transport after arrival may have less control over vehicle type and other requirements.
A pre-booked private transfer allows the journey to be arranged before landing. This is particularly useful when a larger vehicle is required, when several passengers are travelling together or when the destination is outside the normal London public transport network.
Private Transfers from Southend Airport to Central London
Southend Airport is around 40 miles from Central London, so a road journey is significantly longer than from London City Airport. Travel time varies according to traffic and the exact destination, particularly during weekday commuting periods.
A private transfer provides direct transport from the airport to hotels and addresses throughout London, including the City of London, Canary Wharf, Westminster, Mayfair, Kensington, Chelsea, King's Cross and Paddington. There is no need to carry luggage between railway platforms or arrange another taxi after reaching a central station.
This can be especially attractive for families, groups and passengers arriving with substantial luggage. When several people are travelling together, a private vehicle can also be more practical than coordinating individual rail journeys and onward transport from the station.
Transfers to Southend-on-Sea and Essex
London Southend Airport is particularly convenient for destinations in Essex. Private transfers can be arranged to Southend-on-Sea, Leigh-on-Sea, Rochford, Rayleigh, Basildon, Chelmsford and other towns and residential areas throughout the county.
For passengers visiting friends or family, travelling to a hotel or attending a business event outside London, a direct airport transfer avoids travelling into the capital unnecessarily. The driver can take passengers directly from the airport to their final address.
Chauffeur Service from London Southend Airport
WelcomeTaxi chauffeur service from SEN is suitable for business travellers, private clients and passengers who prefer a more comfortable and organised arrival. Professional English-speaking drivers make communication straightforward for international visitors.
A chauffeur can provide direct transport to a London office, hotel, conference venue or another city. The service is also suitable for corporate journeys, special occasions and longer itineraries where privacy and comfort are important.
Transfers Between Southend and Other London Airports
Passengers occasionally need to travel between London airports for connecting flights. From Southend, this may involve a substantial journey, particularly when connecting with Heathrow, Gatwick or Luton.
WelcomeTaxi can arrange private transfers between London Southend Airport and Heathrow Airport (LHR), London City Airport (LCY), Stansted Airport (STN), Gatwick Airport (LGW) and Luton Airport (LTN). A direct car avoids carrying luggage through multiple stations and changing between rail or Underground services.
Stansted is one of the more natural regional connections from Southend, and there are also limited bus services linking the two airports through Essex. For passengers with flights to catch, however, a private transfer provides a direct door-to-door journey without relying on a sequence of public transport connections.
When arranging any airport-to-airport transfer around London, leave a generous time margin. Road congestion can be unpredictable, and sufficient time is also required for check-in, security and possible delays to the arriving flight.
Long-Distance Transfers from Southend Airport
Southend Airport can be a convenient starting point for journeys beyond London and Essex. WelcomeTaxi offers long-distance private transfers to cities, towns, hotels, universities, ports and private addresses throughout England and, where appropriate, elsewhere in the United Kingdom.
Depending on the itinerary, passengers may travel directly to destinations such as Cambridge, Canterbury, Dover, Colchester, Ipswich or other locations in eastern and southeastern England. A private car can be especially useful when there is no direct train from the airport or when public transport would require several changes.
Long-distance transfers also allow passengers to travel directly from their arriving flight to their final destination instead of spending additional time travelling through Central London first.
Southend Airport Transfers to Cruise Ports
Passengers arriving in the London region for a cruise may require onward transport to ports such as Dover or Southampton. From Southend Airport, these journeys can involve multiple rail connections if completed entirely by public transport.
A pre-booked private transfer provides direct transport from the airport to a cruise terminal or pre-cruise hotel. This is particularly practical for travellers with large suitcases, families and groups. Passengers should always allow sufficient time for immigration, baggage collection and road conditions when travelling to a same-day cruise departure.
Why Pre-Book a Transfer Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?
Taking a taxi after landing may be perfectly suitable for a short local journey. For a longer transfer to London or another city, however, arranging the journey in advance offers several advantages.
With a pre-booked transfer, the destination and vehicle requirements are established before arrival. This is helpful when travelling with several passengers, carrying unusual amounts of luggage or requiring a vehicle suitable for a longer journey.
Advance booking also means that passengers can leave the airport with a clear onward travel plan rather than comparing transport options after the flight. This can make a noticeable difference after a late arrival or a long international journey.
Useful Information for Travellers Arriving at SEN
London Southend Airport is relatively compact, and its railway station is only a short walk from the passenger terminal. This makes connections straightforward compared with airports where passengers need an internal shuttle to reach rail services.
One important detail for visitors using public transport is that Southend Airport is outside London's Oyster and contactless fare zone. Passengers travelling by rail need an appropriate ticket for the section outside the London transport zones.
The airport's location makes it particularly useful for Southend-on-Sea, Essex and East London. Travellers heading to Central or West London should remember that the road distance is substantial and allow extra time during periods of heavy traffic.
Whether you need an airport transfer to London, an English-speaking chauffeur for a business trip, a connection between London airports or a long-distance transfer elsewhere in the United Kingdom, WelcomeTaxi provides a convenient pre-booked option from London Southend Airport.
