Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Private Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service in Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo is the capital of the Dominican Republic and one of the most important business, cultural and transport hubs in the Caribbean. The city combines the historic charm of the Colonial Zone with modern districts such as Piantini, Naco and Bella Vista, busy commercial areas, seafront hotels, government offices, conference venues and access roads to beach destinations across the country.
For visitors arriving for business, holidays, cruises, family trips or private events, ground transportation in Santo Domingo is an important part of the journey. Distances may look simple on a map, but traffic, airport location, hotel access, luggage, language barriers and local driving conditions can make last-minute travel less predictable. WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers and chauffeur service in Santo Domingo for travelers who prefer a confirmed vehicle, clear route details and a professional driver arranged in advance.
Santo Domingo Airports
The main airport for the city is Las Américas International Airport (SDQ), officially named Aeropuerto Internacional Las Américas José Francisco Peña Gómez. It is the primary international gateway to Santo Domingo and serves passengers arriving from North America, Europe, the Caribbean and other destinations. :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2} The airport is located east of the city, close to Boca Chica and Punta Caucedo, which makes it convenient not only for Santo Domingo hotels but also for coastal resorts and onward travel along the southern coast.
Santo Domingo is also served by La Isabela International Airport (JBQ), also known as Dr. Joaquín Balaguer Airport. It is located north of the city and handles commercial, private and regional aviation. :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3} For some domestic or Caribbean routes, private aviation movements, business travel or special itineraries, JBQ can be a practical alternative to SDQ.
Travelers may also combine Santo Domingo with other airports in the Dominican Republic, especially for multi-city itineraries. Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), Cibao International Airport in Santiago (STI), La Romana International Airport (LRM) and Samaná El Catey International Airport (AZS) may be relevant for long-distance transfers, resort stays or one-way travel plans across the country.
Airport Transfers from SDQ to Santo Domingo
A pre-booked transfer from Las Américas International Airport to Santo Domingo is often the easiest way to start a trip. Instead of looking for a taxi after landing or comparing local options at the airport, the passenger has a confirmed vehicle arranged before arrival. This is especially useful after long international flights, late arrivals, family trips, group travel or journeys with several suitcases.
WelcomeTaxi airport transfers are private and direct. The vehicle is reserved for the passenger or group, with no shared shuttle stops and no waiting for other travelers. Transfers can be arranged to hotels in the Colonial Zone, Piantini, Naco, Gazcue, Bella Vista, Malecón, Boca Chica, Juan Dolio and other areas around Santo Domingo.
For business travelers, a pre-booked airport pickup also helps reduce uncertainty. The driver follows the confirmed pickup details, and the trip can be planned around meetings, hotel check-in, conferences or onward travel. For leisure travelers, it gives a smoother arrival experience, particularly for first-time visitors to the Dominican Republic.
Chauffeur Service in Santo Domingo
WelcomeTaxi also provides chauffeur service in Santo Domingo for hourly bookings, business schedules, meetings, shopping, restaurant transfers, private events and flexible city itineraries. This option is useful when a simple point-to-point transfer is not enough and the passenger needs a vehicle and driver available for several hours.
Hourly chauffeur service can be used for business appointments in different parts of the city, visits to government or corporate offices, private sightseeing, hotel-to-restaurant transfers, family errands or evening plans. Instead of booking multiple separate taxis, travelers can keep one vehicle for the required period and move between stops more comfortably.
For corporate guests, VIP visitors or families, chauffeur service offers a more organized alternative to relying on local taxis for each movement. The route can include waiting time, multiple stops and flexible coordination, depending on the booking details.
Private Transfers Around Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo is a large and busy city, and travel times can vary depending on traffic, time of day and exact district. The Colonial Zone is a popular area for hotels, restaurants and sightseeing, while Piantini, Naco and surrounding districts are more common for business travelers. The Malecón and seafront areas attract visitors staying near the coast, and Boca Chica or Juan Dolio are frequent destinations for beach stays close to the capital.
Private transfers can be arranged for airport arrivals, hotel-to-hotel transfers, cruise connections, business meetings, residential addresses, events and intercity departures. For families or groups, choosing the right vehicle class is particularly important. A sedan may be suitable for up to three passengers with limited luggage, while vans or minibuses are better for larger groups, extra baggage, golf bags or multi-day travel.
Long-Distance Transfers from Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo is a strong starting point for long-distance transfers across the Dominican Republic. Many travelers continue from the capital to Punta Cana, Bávaro, La Romana, Casa de Campo, Bayahibe, Juan Dolio, Santiago, Samaná, Las Terrenas, Puerto Plata or other destinations. These journeys can be difficult to organize at the last minute, especially when traveling with luggage, children or a group.
A pre-booked long-distance transfer gives passengers a fixed route, confirmed pickup time and vehicle reserved for the journey. It can be arranged from the airport, a hotel, a private address or a business location. This is often more convenient than combining taxis, buses and local transport, particularly for resort transfers or one-way trips between different regions of the country.
For travelers planning several stops, a private transfer or chauffeur service can also support a more flexible itinerary. Routes may include hotel pickups, airport drop-offs, beach destinations, regional cities, event venues or cruise-related travel, depending on the confirmed booking.
Why Choose a Pre-Booked Transfer Instead of a Regular Taxi
Regular taxis can be useful for short local trips, but airport arrivals and intercity journeys are different. After a flight, passengers may face queues, changing prices, language issues, limited vehicle choice or uncertainty about luggage capacity. For longer routes, not every local taxi is suitable or willing to accept the trip on clear terms.
A pre-booked private transfer is planned before travel. The passenger chooses the route, vehicle class and pickup details in advance. This makes the trip more predictable and reduces the need to negotiate on arrival. It is especially valuable for late flights, early departures, business travel, families, groups, cruise passengers and anyone who prefers a confirmed door-to-door service.
WelcomeTaxi positions its Santo Domingo transfer service for international travelers who want a professional, practical and easy-to-understand transport solution. English-speaking drivers can be requested, which helps with airport pickups, hotel coordination and communication during the journey.
Useful Travel Information for Santo Domingo
When planning transportation in Santo Domingo, it is important to allow enough time for traffic, especially during peak hours and when crossing the city. Airport transfers from SDQ can be relatively straightforward, but travel time depends heavily on the final address and road conditions. For departures, passengers should plan a comfortable buffer before flight check-in.
For hotel stays in the Colonial Zone, access may depend on narrow streets, pedestrian areas or local traffic patterns. For business districts such as Piantini and Naco, traffic can be heavier during office hours. For beach areas such as Boca Chica and Juan Dolio, routes are usually more direct from SDQ, while destinations such as Punta Cana, Samaná or Puerto Plata require longer intercity planning.
WelcomeTaxi offers private airport transfers, city transfers, chauffeur service and long-distance transfers in Santo Domingo with a focus on pre-arranged travel, comfortable vehicles and professional coordination. Whether the trip starts at SDQ, JBQ, a hotel, a cruise point, a business address or a private residence, a confirmed transfer helps make travel in and around Santo Domingo easier, clearer and more reliable.
