Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service in Santorini
Santorini is one of Greece's most famous island destinations, known for its dramatic volcanic landscape, whitewashed villages, caldera views and sunsets over the Aegean Sea. The island's accommodation is spread across numerous towns and resort areas, from Fira and Oia on the caldera to Kamari and Perissa on the eastern and southeastern coast.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers and chauffeur service across Santorini for individual travellers, couples, families and groups. Transportation can be arranged between Santorini Airport, Athinios Port, hotels, villas, resorts and other locations throughout the island. Booking in advance is particularly useful during the busy summer season, when visitor numbers are high and local transportation can be in strong demand.
Santorini Airport Transfers
Santorini Airport (JTR), also known as Santorini Thira International Airport, is the island's commercial airport and the main aviation gateway for visitors arriving from Athens and numerous international destinations.
The airport is located close to the centre of the island and approximately 5.5 kilometres from Fira. A private airport transfer provides direct transportation from the terminal to the exact hotel, villa or resort rather than requiring passengers to continue by local bus or arrange transportation after landing.
Pre-booked transfers can be arranged to destinations including Fira, Oia, Imerovigli, Firostefani, Kamari, Perissa, Perivolos, Akrotiri and other parts of the island. Cars, vans and larger vehicles can be selected according to passenger numbers and luggage requirements.
Getting from Santorini Airport to Fira
Fira is the capital and principal transport centre of Santorini. Public buses operate between Santorini Airport and Fira, where passengers can connect with services to other parts of the island.
A private transfer provides a direct alternative from the airport to the accommodation address. This is particularly convenient for passengers with luggage, families, groups or travellers staying at properties that are not close to a bus stop.
Although the airport is only a short distance from Fira, journey times can vary with traffic, especially during the busiest months of the tourism season.
Private Transfers to Oia
Oia is one of Santorini's most recognisable destinations, famous for its caldera views, traditional Cycladic architecture and sunsets. It lies at the northern end of the island and is considerably farther from the airport than Fira.
A private transfer from Santorini Airport provides direct transportation to hotels, villas and other accommodation in Oia. This can be especially useful for travellers arriving with luggage, as many properties are located around pedestrianised streets, steep paths and areas with restricted vehicle access.
Passengers should provide the exact accommodation name when booking so that the most suitable accessible drop-off point can be identified.
Transfers to Imerovigli and Firostefani
Imerovigli and Firostefani are popular caldera-side destinations between Fira and Oia. Both areas contain boutique hotels, villas and restaurants overlooking the volcanic islands and Aegean Sea.
Private transfers can connect Santorini Airport, Athinios Port and other locations directly with accommodation in these villages. Because road access varies between individual properties, accurate hotel information is particularly important.
Transfers to Kamari, Perissa and Perivolos
Santorini's eastern and southeastern coast offers a different experience from the caldera villages. Kamari, Perissa and Perivolos are known for their volcanic beaches, hotels, restaurants and beachfront accommodation.
Kamari is located relatively close to Santorini Airport, while Perissa and Perivolos lie farther south. Private airport transfers provide convenient door-to-door travel to accommodation in all of these resort areas.
Private transportation can also be useful for travellers moving between the beach resorts and the caldera towns during their stay.
Athinios Port Transfers
Athinios Port is Santorini's principal ferry port and an important arrival point for travellers coming from Athens, Mykonos, Crete and other Greek islands. The port is situated below steep cliffs, with road access connecting it to Fira and the rest of Santorini.
A private transfer from Athinios Port provides direct transportation to a hotel, villa or resort anywhere on the island. This can be particularly valuable when arriving with luggage or during busy ferry periods, when large numbers of passengers may need ground transportation at the same time.
Transfers can also be arranged from hotels to the port for departing ferries. Passengers should allow sufficient time because road congestion near the port can increase around ferry arrival and departure periods.
Getting Around Santorini
Santorini has a public bus network centred on Fira, with services connecting the capital to the airport, port and many of the island's main villages and beaches. Taxis, rental vehicles and private transfers provide additional transportation options.
Public buses can be practical for independent travellers with flexible schedules. However, journeys between two destinations outside Fira may require a connection through the central bus station, making private transportation more convenient for some itineraries.
A pre-booked vehicle is particularly useful when carrying luggage, travelling according to a fixed schedule or visiting several destinations during the same day.
Chauffeur Service in Santorini
Hourly chauffeur service is suitable for travellers who want a vehicle available for several journeys rather than a single point-to-point transfer. The driver and vehicle can remain available according to the booked schedule for sightseeing, restaurants, wineries, beaches and other stops.
This can be especially useful in Santorini because the island's attractions are spread across different villages and coastal areas. Travellers can combine caldera viewpoints, archaeological sites, wineries and beaches without arranging a new taxi after every stop.
For couples, families and groups, chauffeur service can also provide flexibility for weddings, celebrations and other private events.
Transfers to Akrotiri and Southern Santorini
Akrotiri lies in the southern part of Santorini and is known for its archaeological site, caldera views and proximity to several beaches and resorts. Private transfers can connect Akrotiri with Santorini Airport, Athinios Port, Fira and other areas of the island.
The southern part of Santorini also includes smaller villages, wineries and accommodation that may not have frequent direct public transport connections. A private vehicle provides direct access to the required address and can be particularly convenient for travellers with luggage.
Santorini Winery and Sightseeing Transportation
Santorini has a long winemaking tradition, with vineyards and wineries distributed across the island. Visitors often combine wine tasting with sightseeing in villages, beaches and caldera viewpoints.
Hourly chauffeur service can be a practical option for an itinerary involving several locations. The vehicle remains available according to the planned schedule, allowing travellers to move between wineries, restaurants and attractions without repeatedly arranging transportation.
A private chauffeur can also be useful for photography itineraries, wedding events and other occasions where several stops need to be coordinated within a limited period.
Why Pre-Book Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?
Local taxis are available on Santorini and are suitable for many short journeys. During peak travel periods, however, demand can be high relative to the size of the island and the number of vehicles available.
A pre-booked private transfer provides greater certainty by arranging the pickup, destination and required vehicle in advance. Airport and ferry passengers can organise transportation before arrival, while groups can reserve a vehicle with appropriate passenger and luggage capacity.
For journeys involving several locations, hourly chauffeur service can also be more practical than arranging a separate taxi for every stage of the itinerary.
Useful Travel Information for Santorini
Santorini is an island destination rather than a single city, and accommodation is distributed across numerous villages and resort areas. Fira is the island's capital and main public transport hub, while Oia, Imerovigli, Kamari, Perissa, Perivolos and Akrotiri are separate destinations with different road distances.
Santorini Airport is approximately 5.5 kilometres from Fira, and public bus service operates between the airport and the capital. Travellers continuing elsewhere on the island may need to change buses in Fira when using public transportation.
Roads can become busy during the summer season, particularly around Fira, Oia and Athinios Port. Travellers heading to a flight or ferry should therefore allow sufficient time rather than planning around the shortest possible driving time.
When booking transportation, provide accurate flight or ferry information, passenger numbers, luggage requirements and the exact hotel or villa name so that an appropriate vehicle and pickup location can be arranged.
