Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Private Transportation in Como and Around Lake Como

Como is an elegant city in Lombardy, northern Italy, located at the southwestern end of Lake Como. It combines a historic centre, waterfront promenades, villas, museums, restaurants, conference venues, ferry services, and convenient access to many of the lake’s most famous towns.

The wider Lake Como region includes destinations on both sides of the lake, as well as villages situated along narrow waterfront roads and mountain slopes. A hotel advertised as being on Lake Como may be located far from the city of Como itself. Bellagio, Menaggio, Tremezzo, Varenna, Lecco, and other lakeside towns all require different routes and travel times.

A pre-booked private transfer provides direct transportation between airports, railway stations, hotels, villas, ferry terminals, wedding venues, and other destinations. It is especially convenient for passengers travelling with luggage, families with children, wedding groups, and visitors staying outside the main towns.

WelcomeTaxi provides private transfers and chauffeur service in Como for individual travellers, couples, families, corporate passengers, event guests, and organised groups. Journeys can be arranged from any accessible hotel, private residence, marina, restaurant, railway station, or meeting point.

Airport Transfers from Milan Malpensa Airport

Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) is the principal international airport for many travellers visiting Como and Lake Como. It is located northwest of Milan and offers convenient road access towards the Como area.

A private transfer from Malpensa Airport provides direct transportation to a hotel, villa, apartment, ferry terminal, or other confirmed destination. The vehicle is reserved for the booking and does not make scheduled stops for unrelated passengers.

Transfers are available to Como city as well as Cernobbio, Moltrasio, Laglio, Argegno, Tremezzo, Menaggio, Bellagio, Lecco, and other locations around the lake. Because these destinations follow different roads, passengers should provide the complete accommodation name and exact address.

Airport pickups can be arranged according to the flight details, terminal, passenger count, luggage, and required vehicle type. Depending on the group size, travellers may request a sedan, minivan, van, minibus, or larger vehicle.

Return transfers from Como to MXP are also available. Pickup time should account for the location of the accommodation, lakeside traffic, possible ferry schedules, airport procedures, and the airline’s recommended check-in time.

Transfers from Milan Linate Airport

Milan Linate Airport (LIN) is located close to central Milan and serves a variety of domestic and European routes. It can be a practical arrival point for passengers combining a stay in Milan with a visit to Como or Lake Como.

A private transfer from Linate Airport provides door-to-door transportation without requiring passengers to travel through central Milan or change between several forms of public transport. Transfers can be arranged directly to Como, lakeside hotels, private villas, wedding venues, and business addresses.

The journey passes through or around the Milan metropolitan area, where traffic conditions can vary considerably. Additional time should be allowed during weekday commuting periods, major events, public holidays, and peak travel dates.

Transfers from Milan Bergamo Airport

Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY), also known as Orio al Serio Airport, is an important gateway for low-cost and European flights. It is located near Bergamo, east of Milan, and can be used by travellers heading to Como and other parts of the lake.

A private transfer from BGY avoids the need to travel first to central Milan and then continue by train or another vehicle. This is particularly convenient for passengers arriving in the evening, travelling with children, or carrying several suitcases.

Travel times depend heavily on the final destination. Journeys to Como city differ from transfers to Lecco, Bellagio, Menaggio, or villages on the western shore. The precise hotel or villa address is therefore essential when requesting a quotation.

Chauffeur Service in Como

Chauffeur service is suitable for travellers who require a vehicle for several hours, a full day, or a personalised itinerary around Lake Como. Instead of arranging a separate taxi after every stop, passengers can reserve a private vehicle and driver according to a planned schedule.

Hourly hire can be used for business meetings, weddings, restaurant reservations, villa visits, property viewings, shopping trips, photography sessions, private events, and sightseeing. It is particularly practical when an itinerary includes several towns located on different parts of the lake.

English-speaking drivers make transportation arrangements easier for international visitors. Pickup details, planned stops, waiting arrangements, and the final destination can be confirmed in advance.

For complex itineraries, passengers should provide complete addresses and approximate times for each stop. The lakeside road network can make apparently short distances take longer than expected, particularly during weekends and the summer season.

Transfers to Cernobbio and the Western Shore

Cernobbio is located immediately north of Como and is known for luxury hotels, historic villas, event venues, restaurants, and waterfront scenery. Private transfers can be arranged from all three Milan airports, Como railway stations, Milan city, and other locations around the lake.

Continuing north, the western shore includes Moltrasio, Carate Urio, Laglio, Brienno, Argegno, Lenno, Tremezzo, and Menaggio. These towns are connected by scenic but sometimes narrow roads running close to the water.

Hotels and villas may have restricted entrances, limited parking space, steep access roads, or pickup points away from the main building. Passengers should provide any instructions supplied by the accommodation or event organiser.

Bellagio Private Transfers

Bellagio is one of Lake Como’s best-known destinations, located where the lake divides into its two southern branches. It is popular for luxury hotels, villas, restaurants, weddings, and leisure travel.

Road access to Bellagio is possible from both the Como and Lecco sides of the lake, while ferries connect it with several other towns. The best transfer route depends on the pickup location, season, traffic, ferry operations, and vehicle requirements.

A private transfer can take passengers directly from an airport or railway station to their Bellagio hotel or the closest accessible point. Some properties are situated in pedestrian areas or along narrow streets where vehicles cannot stop directly at the entrance.

Passengers continuing by ferry should allow sufficient time and confirm the current departure point. Ferry crossings are separate from the road transfer unless specifically included in the agreed itinerary.

Tremezzo, Menaggio and Central Lake Transfers

Tremezzo and Menaggio are important destinations on the western shore of central Lake Como. The area contains renowned villas, luxury hotels, restaurants, ferry terminals, residential properties, and popular wedding venues.

Private transfers can be arranged from MXP, LIN, BGY, Milan, Como, or other towns in northern Italy. Transportation is also available between different Lake Como hotels, villas, ferry terminals, and event locations.

Road traffic can increase around central-lake towns during weekends, weddings, public holidays, and the peak summer season. Pickup times for airport departures should therefore include a reasonable safety margin.

Varenna, Lecco and the Eastern Shore

Varenna is a popular lakeside village on the eastern shore, known for its waterfront, hotels, villas, and ferry connections. It also has a railway station with services towards Milan and other regional destinations.

Lecco lies at the southeastern end of the lake and is an important urban and transport centre. Private transfers can be arranged between Lecco, Varenna, Bellagio, Como, Milan airports, and accommodation elsewhere in Lombardy.

The road and rail geography of the eastern shore differs from that of Como and the western side of the lake. Passengers should not use “Lake Como” as the only destination when booking. The exact town and accommodation address are necessary to select the correct route.

Como Railway Station Transfers

Como is served by several railway stations, including Como San Giovanni and Como Lago. They are used by different rail services and are located in separate parts of the city.

A private station transfer is convenient for passengers carrying luggage, families with children, and travellers continuing to villas or towns not located close to the railway network. Transportation can be arranged from the station to any accessible hotel, private address, ferry terminal, or event venue.

Passengers should provide the complete station name, train number, and scheduled arrival time. Simply requesting pickup from “Como station” may lead to confusion because the city has more than one passenger terminal.

Lake Como Ferry Connections

Passenger ferries and vehicle ferries form an important part of transportation around Lake Como. They connect many lakeside towns and can reduce the need for long road journeys around the shoreline.

However, ferry routes and timetables can vary according to the season, day of the week, weather, and operating conditions. Not every service carries vehicles, and some passenger boats have limited space for large luggage.

A private transfer can take travellers to the correct ferry terminal or collect them after a crossing. Passengers should confirm the departure town, arrival town, scheduled time, and whether they are using a passenger-only or vehicle ferry.

When a transfer depends on a ferry crossing, sufficient time should be allowed for ticketing, boarding, possible queues, and schedule changes. A road-only alternative may take considerably longer.

Wedding and Event Transportation

Lake Como is an internationally popular destination for weddings, private celebrations, corporate retreats, and luxury events. Ceremonies and receptions may take place in historic villas, hotels, gardens, restaurants, or private residences around the lake.

WelcomeTaxi can provide private cars for couples and VIP guests as well as vans, minibuses, or larger vehicles for families and groups. Transportation can be arranged from airports, hotels, railway stations, ceremony venues, reception locations, and after-event pickup points.

Event transportation requires detailed planning because venues may have restricted access, limited turning space, or special arrival procedures. Organisers should provide the venue contact, access instructions, passenger list, schedule, and any requirements for multiple vehicle movements.

Long-Distance Transfers from Como

Como is well positioned for long-distance transfers across Lombardy and northern Italy. Private transportation can be arranged to Milan, Bergamo, Monza, Varese, Lake Maggiore, Lake Garda, Verona, Turin, and other destinations.

Cross-border journeys to Lugano and other locations in Switzerland may also be requested. Passengers must carry the documentation required for the border crossing, and the itinerary should be confirmed in advance.

A regional booking may be arranged as a one-way transfer, return journey, hourly hire, or multi-day service. Private transportation is particularly useful when the final destination is a villa, rural hotel, event venue, or business site located away from a railway station.

For multi-day itineraries, passengers should provide the route for each day, expected pickup times, planned stops, overnight locations, approximate duration, and final drop-off.

Why Pre-Book Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?

Local taxis can be convenient for spontaneous journeys within Como, but their immediate availability and luggage capacity may be limited during busy periods. Finding several vehicles for a group can also be difficult at smaller lakeside towns and private villas.

A pre-booked transfer confirms the date, pickup time, destination, passenger count, luggage requirements, and vehicle category before travel. Travellers do not need to search for a suitable car after arriving at an airport or railway station.

Pre-booking is particularly useful for families, wedding groups, business travellers, and passengers requiring vans, minibuses, child seats, or additional luggage capacity. The vehicle remains private and does not collect unrelated travellers.

For airport departures, weddings, ferry connections, restaurant reservations, and long-distance journeys, advance booking also provides better control over timing and pickup instructions.

Local Transportation and Useful Travel Information

Como has railway services, local buses, taxis, ferries, and seasonal boat connections. These options are useful for many journeys, but they may not provide direct access to every hotel, villa, hillside residence, or event venue.

Traffic around the lake can become slow during summer weekends, public holidays, major events, and periods of road maintenance. Narrow streets and limited parking can also affect pickup and drop-off arrangements.

Historic centres and waterfront promenades may include pedestrian or restricted-traffic zones. The driver may therefore use the nearest legal and practical meeting point rather than stop directly outside the accommodation.

Passengers should provide precise addresses, villa names, gate numbers, local contacts, and any instructions concerning narrow roads or restricted access. This is especially important for private properties and wedding venues.

Private Transfers for Holidays, Events and Business Travel

Como welcomes leisure travellers, wedding guests, executives, conference delegates, property owners, families, and visitors exploring northern Italy throughout the year. WelcomeTaxi can provide transportation for a single airport pickup, a return journey, several scheduled transfers, or a complete regional itinerary.

Services are available between airports, hotels, villas, railway stations, ferry terminals, restaurants, event venues, tourist attractions, and private addresses. Each booking is planned according to the route, schedule, passenger count, luggage, and required vehicle type.

By arranging transportation in advance, passengers receive a direct private service with an English-speaking driver and a suitable vehicle. Whether you require an airport transfer, chauffeur service, wedding transportation, ferry connection, or long-distance journey from Como, pre-booking provides greater comfort and control over your travel plans.
