Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Private Transfers in Sapporo, Japan
Sapporo is the administrative and economic center of Hokkaido and one of the most visited cities in northern Japan. Known for its famous snow festival, ski resorts, seafood markets, hot springs, and spacious urban layout, the city attracts both international tourists and domestic travelers throughout the year.
Because Hokkaido is geographically large and many popular destinations are spread across mountainous and rural areas, transportation planning is an important part of any trip. Private transfers in Sapporo provide a comfortable and efficient way to travel between airports, hotels, ski resorts, and regional destinations without the complexity of navigating multiple train connections or driving in winter conditions.
WelcomeTaxi offers pre-booked airport transfers, chauffeur service, and long-distance transportation across Hokkaido with professional drivers and fixed pricing.
Airport Transfers from New Chitose Airport
Most international and domestic travelers arrive in Sapporo through New Chitose Airport, located southeast of the city near Chitose and Tomakomai. The airport is one of Japan’s busiest regional aviation hubs and serves direct flights from Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Taipei, Hong Kong, and other major cities.
Although train connections between the airport and central Sapporo are generally efficient, many travelers prefer private airport transfers, especially when carrying ski equipment, traveling with children, arriving late at night, or heading directly to mountain resorts.
A private transfer from New Chitose Airport allows passengers to avoid crowded trains, winter weather exposure, and language barriers. Your driver meets you at the airport and provides direct transportation to your hotel, apartment, ski resort, or regional destination.
Airport chauffeur service is particularly useful during the peak winter season, when weather conditions can affect schedules and taxis may be difficult to find during busy arrival periods.
Chauffeur Service in Sapporo
Chauffeur service in Sapporo is popular among both leisure and business travelers who value comfort, reliability, and flexible transportation.
Unlike regular taxis, pre-booked chauffeur-driven vehicles provide fixed pricing, scheduled pickup times, and the ability to plan longer regional journeys in advance. This is especially important in Hokkaido, where distances between destinations can be significant and public transportation outside major cities may be limited.
WelcomeTaxi offers private transportation for airport pickups, city transfers, corporate travel, sightseeing, ski holidays, and long-distance routes throughout Hokkaido.
English-speaking drivers are available for many transfers, helping international visitors communicate more easily during their trip in Japan.
Transfers Between Sapporo and Ski Resorts
One of the main reasons international travelers visit Sapporo is access to Hokkaido’s famous ski resorts. During the winter season, thousands of visitors travel between Sapporo, New Chitose Airport, and mountain destinations such as Niseko, Rusutsu, Furano, Kiroro, and Tomamu.
Private ski resort transfers are often more convenient than public transportation, particularly for families, groups, and travelers carrying winter sports equipment.
Road travel in Hokkaido during winter requires experience with snow and ice conditions. Professional local drivers familiar with regional roads can provide a safer and more comfortable journey compared to self-driving rental cars.
Many visitors also combine several destinations within one trip, for example traveling from Sapporo to Niseko, continuing to Otaru, and later returning to the airport. Pre-booked chauffeur service makes these multi-stop itineraries easier to organize.
Long-Distance Transfers Across Hokkaido
Hokkaido is much larger than many first-time visitors expect. Traveling between cities and tourist regions can take several hours, especially during winter weather conditions.
Long-distance private transfers from Sapporo are available to destinations throughout the island, including:
Sapporo to Niseko
Niseko is internationally known for its powder snow and luxury ski resorts. Private transfers are one of the most common transportation options between Sapporo or New Chitose Airport and Niseko accommodations.
Sapporo to Otaru
Otaru is a historic port city famous for canals, seafood, and traditional architecture. Many travelers visit Otaru as a day trip from Sapporo.
Sapporo to Furano and Biei
Furano and Biei are popular during both winter and summer seasons for skiing, flower fields, and scenic countryside landscapes.
Sapporo to Rusutsu and Tomamu
These resort areas attract international ski travelers and often require private road transportation due to limited direct public transit options.
Why Many Travelers Prefer Private Transfers in Sapporo
Public transportation in Japan is efficient, but Hokkaido presents unique travel conditions compared to cities like Tokyo or Osaka.
Winter weather can cause delays, road closures, and slower travel times. Rural destinations may require multiple train and bus transfers, while taxis for longer regional trips can become expensive and difficult to arrange spontaneously.
Pre-booked private transfers offer several practical advantages:
- direct door-to-door transportation,
- fixed pricing without taxi meter uncertainty,
- easier travel with luggage or ski equipment,
- flexible pickup scheduling,
- professional local drivers,
- reduced stress for international visitors,
- comfortable long-distance travel across Hokkaido.
For travelers unfamiliar with winter driving conditions in Japan, chauffeur service can also be a safer alternative to renting a car.
Transportation in Sapporo
Sapporo has a well-developed urban transportation network including subways, buses, and JR rail services. Central districts such as Susukino, Odori, and Sapporo Station are easy to navigate using public transit.
However, many visitors arriving in Hokkaido continue beyond the city itself toward ski resorts, hot spring towns, and rural sightseeing destinations where public transportation becomes less convenient.
Heavy snowfall is a normal part of daily life during winter in Sapporo. Roads are generally well maintained, but weather conditions can still affect travel times and transportation availability.
Booking airport transfers and regional transportation in advance is highly recommended during the ski season and major events such as the Sapporo Snow Festival.
Travel Tips for Visiting Sapporo
The best-known travel season in Sapporo is winter, particularly from December through February. Ski tourism peaks during this period, and transportation demand across Hokkaido increases significantly.
Summer is also popular thanks to mild temperatures, outdoor activities, flower fields, and regional road trips.
Travelers arriving at New Chitose Airport should allow additional time during winter due to snow conditions and seasonal traffic.
If you plan to visit multiple destinations across Hokkaido, private chauffeur service can simplify logistics and reduce travel fatigue, especially for families or small groups.
WelcomeTaxi provides private airport transfers, chauffeur service, and long-distance transportation throughout Sapporo and Hokkaido with professional drivers and convenient pre-booked travel solutions.
