Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur-Driven Travel in Medina

Medina, officially known as Al Madinah Al Munawwarah, is one of Saudi Arabia’s most important religious, historical, and cultural destinations. Millions of visitors travel to the city for Umrah, Hajj-related journeys, visits to the Prophet’s Mosque, family travel, business, and tours of western Saudi Arabia.

WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers and chauffeur services throughout Medina. Transportation can be arranged between the airport, hotels, residences, railway stations, business locations, religious sites, and destinations outside the city.

Passengers may reserve a direct airport pickup, a city transfer, an hourly chauffeur-driven vehicle, or a long-distance journey to another part of Saudi Arabia. Suitable vehicles can be arranged for individuals, families, organised pilgrimage groups, corporate travellers, and passengers carrying substantial luggage.

Medina Airport Transfers

Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport (MED) is the principal airport serving Medina and the surrounding region. It handles domestic and international flights and is an important arrival point for pilgrims and other visitors travelling directly to the city.

The airport is located northeast of central Medina and is connected to the city by a modern road network. Journey times depend on traffic, the location of the passenger’s hotel, seasonal demand, and access restrictions near busy central areas.

A pre-booked private airport transfer provides direct transportation from the terminal to the requested destination. The pickup details, route, passenger count, luggage requirements, and vehicle category are arranged before arrival, reducing the need to organise transportation after a flight.

Private Transfers from MED Airport

With a private transfer, the vehicle is reserved for the passenger or travelling party. The journey operates directly to the confirmed hotel, residence, railway station, meeting point, or onward destination without collecting unrelated passengers.

A sedan may be suitable for one or two travellers with standard luggage. Families and groups can request minivans, vans, minibuses, or coaches, depending on availability. Executive vehicles may also be arranged for corporate clients, official visitors, and passengers who prefer a higher service category.

English-speaking drivers are available on request. Language availability can depend on the travel date, vehicle class, and route, so international passengers who require assistance in English should mention this preference when booking.

Transfers to Medina Airport

Private departure transfers can be arranged from hotels, apartments, residences, offices, and other addresses in Medina to MED Airport. Passengers should provide their flight departure time so that the pickup can be scheduled with an appropriate margin for road conditions, airport check-in, security, and baggage procedures.

Travel demand may be particularly high during Ramadan, Umrah periods, the Hajj season, public holidays, and major events. Passengers should avoid planning an unnecessarily tight airport journey during these periods.

Transportation in Medina

Medina offers several transport options, including public buses, regular taxis, limousine services, ride-booking applications, rental cars, and the Haramain High Speed Railway. The most suitable choice depends on the route, passenger count, luggage, schedule, and level of convenience required.

Public transport can be practical for independent travellers familiar with the city. Private transfers are generally better suited to airport arrivals, families with children, groups, passengers carrying several suitcases, and visitors travelling directly to destinations outside Medina.

Medina Public Buses

Medina has a developing public bus network connecting important residential districts, transport hubs, commercial areas, and visitor destinations. An airport bus service also links Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport with the area of the Prophet’s Mosque.

Buses may provide an economical option for passengers travelling with limited luggage and staying close to a convenient stop. However, they do not offer direct transportation to every hotel or private address, and an additional walk or taxi journey may still be required.

Routes, schedules, ticketing procedures, and operating hours may change. Travellers planning to use public buses should check current local information near their travel date.

Regular Taxis and Ride-Booking Applications

Regular taxis and app-based ride services operate in Medina and can be useful for spontaneous journeys within the city. Vehicles may be found at the airport, railway station, major hotels, shopping areas, and other busy locations.

For a simple local journey, an on-demand taxi may be sufficient. Passengers should still confirm the destination, fare method, vehicle capacity, and payment arrangements before departure.

A pre-booked transfer offers greater predictability for airport pickups, groups, long-distance routes, and journeys involving specific requirements. The provider receives the itinerary and passenger details before the service begins.

Haramain High Speed Railway

The Haramain High Speed Railway connects Medina with King Abdullah Economic City, Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport, and Mecca. It is an important option for pilgrims and other travellers moving between the holy cities and the Jeddah region.

Passengers using the railway still need transportation between Medina Station and their hotel, airport, or residence. A private transfer can connect the station directly with the final address and is especially convenient for families, elderly travellers, groups, and passengers with several pieces of luggage.

Train tickets should be booked separately and sufficient time should be allowed between a road transfer and the scheduled rail departure.

Car Rental

Rental cars are available for travellers who prefer to drive independently. This can offer flexibility for regional itineraries and visits to destinations outside the city.

Drivers should consider licence requirements, insurance, deposits, parking, fuel arrangements, local traffic rules, and access restrictions. During major pilgrimage periods, traffic and parking near central religious areas can be challenging.

For visitors who do not wish to navigate unfamiliar roads or manage parking, a chauffeur-driven vehicle may provide a more convenient alternative.

Why Pre-Book a Private Transfer in Medina?

Pre-booking allows passengers to arrange transportation before travelling. The date, pickup time, destination, vehicle category, passenger count, and luggage requirements can all be confirmed in advance.

This is particularly valuable in Medina because demand can change substantially during busy religious seasons. Finding several suitable vehicles after arrival may be difficult for large families or organised groups, especially when passengers carry extensive luggage.

A reserved transfer also provides a complete door-to-door itinerary. Travellers do not need to reach a bus stop, wait for another service, or arrange a second taxi for the final part of the journey.

Families may request child seats in advance, subject to local availability. Groups can reserve a single van, minibus, or coach rather than separating into several taxis. Corporate and official visitors can request executive vehicles appropriate for airport collections and formal appointments.

Long-distance travel should also be booked beforehand. Journeys to Mecca, Jeddah, AlUla, Yanbu, and other cities require different planning from a short urban taxi ride and may involve driver-hour, route, and vehicle considerations.

Chauffeur Service in Medina

WelcomeTaxi offers chauffeur service for passengers who require a vehicle for several hours rather than one direct transfer. The vehicle and driver remain available during the confirmed service period and follow the agreed itinerary.

Hourly hire may be used for business appointments, family visits, shopping, hotel changes, railway station transfers, dining, events, and visits to several locations around Medina. It can also begin with an airport pickup and continue with a planned city programme.

Passengers should provide the approximate itinerary, expected duration, passenger count, luggage details, and any planned journey beyond the city. Waiting time and additional stops should be included in the booking request rather than added without notice during the service.

Transportation for Pilgrims and Families

Many visitors travel to Medina as families or organised religious groups. A suitable private vehicle makes it easier to keep the group together and manage luggage, wheelchairs, child equipment, and personal belongings.

Transfers can be arranged between MED Airport, the Haramain railway station, hotels, and accessible religious or historical locations. Passengers should provide the complete hotel name because many properties have similar names or several branches.

During periods of heavy demand, road closures, controlled zones, or hotel access procedures may affect the closest possible pickup point. The driver may need to use an authorised nearby location rather than stopping directly at a particular entrance.

Corporate and Executive Transportation

Medina is also a regional centre for government, healthcare, education, construction, hospitality, and commercial activity. Executive transportation can be arranged for visiting managers, consultants, officials, conference guests, and business delegations.

A chauffeur-driven car can operate between the airport, hotel, offices, meeting venues, restaurants, and project sites. Larger delegations may request several coordinated vehicles or a minibus.

Religious and Historical Sites in Medina

The Prophet’s Mosque is the central destination for most visitors to Medina. The surrounding area contains a large concentration of hotels, restaurants, shops, and services for pilgrims.

Other widely visited locations include Quba Mosque, the area of Mount Uhud, the Seven Mosques, and sites connected with the early history of Islam. Access arrangements and visitor rules can vary, and not every location is open at all times.

A private vehicle can assist with travel between accessible sites, particularly for elderly passengers, families, and visitors who prefer not to organise several separate taxi journeys. The booking should clearly state whether the driver is expected to wait during each visit.

WelcomeTaxi provides transportation only. Passengers remain responsible for checking opening times, visitor permissions, religious requirements, and access conditions for each site.

Regional Transfers from Medina

Medina is a useful starting point for journeys across western and northwestern Saudi Arabia. Private transfers may be arranged to coastal cities, historical destinations, airports, railway stations, resorts, and accommodation outside the urban area.

The route should be planned according to distance, passenger requirements, service duration, and the selected vehicle. For longer journeys, comfort stops and driver working-time requirements may affect the schedule.

Medina to Mecca

Mecca is one of the most important onward destinations from Medina. Passengers may travel by high-speed train, scheduled coach, or private road transfer.

A private transfer provides direct travel from a Medina hotel or residence to an accessible destination in Mecca. It is particularly useful for families, groups, elderly passengers, and travellers who prefer not to change between hotel transport, railway stations, and local taxis.

Access to Mecca is subject to Saudi regulations, religious eligibility requirements, and seasonal controls. Passengers are responsible for ensuring that they hold the necessary visa, permits, and right of entry.

Medina to Jeddah

Private transfers between Medina and Jeddah can be arranged for passengers travelling to city hotels, residences, business locations, Jeddah Islamic Port, or King Abdulaziz International Airport.

The road journey is suitable for passengers who require door-to-door service or whose flight schedule does not align conveniently with rail connections. Travellers heading to Jeddah Airport should provide the terminal and flight departure time.

Medina to Yanbu

Yanbu is an important Red Sea destination west of Medina. It includes industrial areas, commercial districts, beaches, resorts, and Yanbu Airport.

Private transfers are available for business travellers, tourists, families, and passengers continuing to coastal accommodation. The exact destination should be specified because Yanbu covers a broad area and journey times vary between the industrial city, central districts, and resort locations.

Medina to AlUla

AlUla is one of Saudi Arabia’s leading cultural and heritage destinations. It is known for desert landscapes, archaeological sites, historic settlements, rock formations, and high-profile tourism developments.

A private transfer from Medina offers direct travel to hotels, resorts, or another confirmed location in the AlUla area. Passengers should book attraction tickets, guided visits, and accommodation separately.

Because sites and resorts are spread across a wide area, the complete itinerary should be provided in advance. A transfer to a hotel does not automatically include sightseeing transportation after arrival.

Medina to Khaybar

Khaybar is a historical oasis north of Medina and is increasingly included in regional cultural itineraries. Private transportation can be arranged as a direct transfer or as part of a longer journey towards AlUla and northwestern Saudi Arabia.

Travellers should confirm current visitor access, opening arrangements, and the exact location they intend to visit. Remote sites may require more detailed planning than a standard intercity transfer.

Long-Distance Transfers from Medina

WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance transportation from Medina to destinations throughout Saudi Arabia. Direct road travel is particularly useful for groups, passengers with extensive luggage, and travellers whose final destination is not close to a railway station or airport.

Transfers to Riyadh

Riyadh is a considerable distance from Medina, but a private road transfer may be requested when passengers need direct transportation, have specialised luggage, or are following a multi-city itinerary.

For such a long journey, the selected vehicle, rest stops, driver hours, and overall service schedule must be planned carefully. Domestic flights may be more practical for some passengers, but private transport provides greater flexibility for intermediate destinations.

Transfers to Tabuk and Northwestern Saudi Arabia

Private transfers can also be arranged towards Tabuk and other destinations in northwestern Saudi Arabia. These routes cover long distances and may pass through sparsely populated areas.

Passengers should provide all planned stops, accommodation details, and the final destination. Multi-day itineraries may require separate driver accommodation and additional service arrangements.

Cross-Country and Multi-Day Travel

Passengers planning a tour covering several Saudi cities can request a chauffeur-driven vehicle for a multi-day itinerary. The request should include every city, daily schedule, expected mileage, overnight stops, passenger count, and luggage requirements.

A detailed programme is necessary because multi-day service is different from booking several unrelated transfers. Driver accommodation, working hours, road tolls, parking, and vehicle availability may all affect the quotation.

Useful Travel Information for Medina

Arabic is the official language of Saudi Arabia. English is used in many hotels, airports, international businesses, and tourism services, but it should not be assumed that every local driver speaks English. An English-speaking driver should be requested in advance.

The official currency is the Saudi riyal. Bank cards and digital payments are widely used, although travellers may still find cash useful for smaller purchases.

Medina has a hot desert climate. Summer temperatures can be very high, making an air-conditioned vehicle especially important for airport transfers and regional travel. Passengers should carry water and avoid unnecessary exposure to the heat.

Visitors should dress and behave respectfully in accordance with local customs and the religious importance of the city. Access to certain sacred areas may be restricted according to religion, permits, dates, or official pilgrimage arrangements.

Traffic demand can increase considerably during prayer periods, Ramadan, Umrah peaks, Hajj-related travel, and public holidays. Road controls may affect access to central hotels and the area around the Prophet’s Mosque.

Passengers should always provide a working mobile number, the complete hotel name, and accurate flight or train details. This is particularly important when streets are busy or the driver cannot stop directly outside the accommodation.

Booking Transfers and Chauffeur Services in Medina

To request transportation, provide the date, pickup time, full pickup and destination details, passenger count, and luggage information. Airport bookings should include the flight number and scheduled arrival or departure time.

For railway station transfers, passengers should provide the train number and scheduled time. For chauffeur hire, include the expected duration and approximate itinerary. Long-distance requests should list all stops and the final destination.

Passengers requiring child seats, wheelchair-accessible transportation, oversized luggage, several pickup points, or a specific vehicle category should mention these requirements before confirmation. Special equipment and particular vehicles remain subject to local availability.

Whether the journey is a short transfer from MED Airport, an hourly chauffeur booking in Medina, or a long-distance journey across Saudi Arabia, advance reservation provides a clearer and more comfortable transportation plan.
