Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
    Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Madinah Airport

Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport (MED), commonly known as Madinah Airport, is the main international airport serving Madinah in western Saudi Arabia. It is a major arrival point for pilgrims visiting Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, as well as for families, business travellers and tourists exploring Al Madinah Province.

The airport operates throughout the year, with particularly busy periods during Ramadan, the Hajj season and major religious holidays. WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private airport transfers from MED to hotels, residences and other destinations in Madinah, together with chauffeur service and long-distance transfers across Saudi Arabia.

A transfer can also be booked from a hotel or private address in Madinah back to the airport. The pickup time should allow for road conditions, terminal procedures and the higher passenger volumes that may occur during pilgrimage seasons.

Getting from Madinah Airport to the City

Madinah Airport is located outside the central hotel and mosque district. Passengers can travel to the city by private transfer, taxi, limousine, ride-hailing service, shuttle bus or rental car. The best option depends on the arrival time, luggage, group size and exact accommodation address.

Pre-Booked Private Airport Transfer

A private airport transfer provides direct transportation from the terminal to the passenger’s hotel, apartment or residence. The vehicle is reserved for the booked party, so there is no need to wait for other travellers or make scheduled stops along the way.

This is particularly convenient for families, elderly passengers, pilgrims carrying several bags and groups requiring a van or minibus. Booking in advance also allows the passenger count, luggage requirements and destination to be recorded before arrival.

Many hotels in central Madinah have similar names or are located on busy streets near the mosque area. Providing the complete hotel name, address and booking confirmation can help the driver identify the correct entrance or nearest permitted stopping point.

Airport Taxis and Limousine Services

Regular taxis and limousine services are available at Madinah Airport. They provide direct transportation and may be suitable for passengers who prefer to arrange a vehicle after landing.

During busy pilgrimage periods, demand can increase and larger vehicles may be more difficult to obtain without advance notice. Travellers should also confirm the destination and fare arrangements before beginning the journey.

Ride-Hailing Applications

Ride-hailing services such as Uber, Careem and other locally available applications operate in Madinah. They can be useful for passengers with mobile internet access and a working payment method.

Pickup zones, waiting times and vehicle availability may vary according to terminal activity. App-based booking may also be less practical for a large family, substantial luggage or a group requiring several coordinated vehicles.

Airport Shuttle Buses

Shuttle buses may connect Madinah Airport with the area around the Prophet’s Mosque. This is generally a more economical option than private transportation and can be suitable for passengers travelling alone with light luggage.

A shuttle follows a fixed route and schedule, so passengers may still need to walk or take another vehicle from the drop-off point to their accommodation. Travellers arriving with children, elderly relatives or heavy bags may find a door-to-door transfer more convenient.

Car Rental

Rental cars are available at the airport for visitors planning independent travel around the region. A rental vehicle may be useful for an extended stay or a multi-city itinerary.

Driving in central Madinah can be challenging during busy periods because of congestion, road closures, controlled access and limited hotel parking. Visitors staying near the mosque may therefore prefer a transfer for arrival and use local transportation during their stay.

Why Pre-Book a Transfer from MED?

After a long international journey, arranging transportation at the terminal can add unnecessary uncertainty. A pre-booked transfer provides a planned pickup, a known vehicle category and a destination recorded before the passenger arrives.

A private transfer is especially useful when:

  • you are travelling for Umrah or another religious visit;
  • your group includes elderly passengers or young children;
  • you have several suitcases or bulky luggage;
  • you require a minivan, van or minibus;
  • your flight arrives late at night or during a busy season;
  • you need direct transportation to another Saudi city;
  • you prefer an English-speaking driver.

Unlike a shared shuttle, the vehicle is reserved for your party and travels directly to the booked destination. Unlike a taxi selected after arrival, the transfer can be matched in advance to the stated number of passengers and bags.

Transfers to Hotels Near the Prophet’s Mosque

The central area surrounding Al-Masjid an-Nabawi contains many of Madinah’s largest hotels and receives substantial vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Access arrangements can change during prayer times, religious holidays and periods of exceptional congestion.

A driver will normally take passengers to the hotel entrance when road access allows. Where a street is closed or restricted, pickup or drop-off may need to take place at the nearest authorised point.

Passengers should provide the full hotel name because several properties may belong to the same international chain or have similar English and Arabic names. A map location or hotel telephone number can also be helpful.

Private transfers are available to accommodation throughout Madinah, including hotels and residences outside the central mosque district. The exact address should always be included when booking.

Chauffeur Service in Madinah

WelcomeTaxi’s chauffeur service can be arranged for religious visits, family transportation, business schedules and sightseeing in and around Madinah. A private vehicle with a driver may be booked for a single journey or for an agreed number of hours.

Hourly chauffeur hire is useful when passengers need to visit several locations but do not want to order a separate taxi after every stop. The driver remains available during the booked period, subject to the agreed itinerary and local parking conditions.

Journeys may include transportation between hotels, meeting venues, restaurants, railway stations and important sites around the city. Visitors planning religious or historical sightseeing should provide the intended stops in advance so that sufficient time can be allocated.

An English-speaking driver can be requested, subject to local availability. The chauffeur provides transportation and practical assistance related to the journey but should not be considered a licensed religious scholar or professional tour guide.

Ziyarat and Local Sightseeing Transportation

Many visitors arrange transportation to important historical and religious sites around Madinah. Common destinations include Quba Mosque, Mount Uhud, the area of the Seven Mosques and other locations connected with the city’s Islamic history.

A private vehicle allows families and groups to travel at their own pace and avoid arranging separate taxis between sites. The itinerary and expected duration should be specified before booking, particularly when waiting time is required.

Access rules, opening arrangements and traffic conditions may change. Travellers should respect local regulations, dress requirements, prayer times and any instructions issued by the relevant authorities.

Long-Distance Transfers from Madinah Airport

Madinah is connected by road and rail with other major destinations in western Saudi Arabia. WelcomeTaxi can arrange direct long-distance transfers from MED, allowing passengers to continue their journey without first travelling to a bus or railway station.

Madinah to Makkah

Makkah is one of the most frequently requested onward destinations from Madinah. A private transfer offers direct door-to-door transportation for pilgrims travelling between the two holy cities.

The journey should be planned with sufficient time for rest stops, traffic and seasonal congestion. Passengers must ensure that they meet all applicable access, pilgrimage and documentation requirements before travelling.

Madinah to Jeddah

Private transfers are available to central Jeddah, Jeddah hotels and King Abdulaziz International Airport. This may be practical for passengers continuing their journey from Jeddah or combining visits to several cities.

Because Jeddah is a considerable distance from Madinah, the full destination and flight schedule should be supplied when requesting an airport-to-airport transfer.

Madinah to Yanbu

Yanbu is a Red Sea city and an important industrial and coastal destination within Al Madinah Province. Transfers can be arranged to Yanbu hotels, residential areas, industrial locations and Prince Abdulmohsen Bin Abdulaziz International Airport (YNB).

YNB is the principal neighboring airport associated with the wider province, although it does not normally serve as a direct substitute for MED when visiting central Madinah.

Madinah to AlUla

AlUla is a major heritage and tourism destination northwest of Madinah. A private road transfer can provide direct transportation to hotels, resorts and meeting points in the AlUla area.

The journey is considerably longer than a city transfer, so passengers should bring water, allow time for comfort stops and provide the complete accommodation details. Multi-day chauffeur arrangements may also be requested for itineraries combining Madinah and AlUla.

High-Speed Rail and Other Intercity Options

The Haramain High Speed Railway connects Madinah with Jeddah and Makkah. Rail travel can be convenient for passengers who prefer a scheduled service and can manage their luggage independently.

A separate transfer is still required between Madinah Airport, the railway station and the final hotel. During busy periods, train tickets may need to be reserved in advance.

Intercity buses and shared vehicles may offer lower-cost transportation, but they generally operate from fixed departure points and do not provide hotel-to-hotel service. A private transfer is more suitable when convenience, privacy and luggage handling are priorities.

Vehicles for Families, Pilgrims and Groups

A private car is normally suitable for one to three passengers with standard luggage. Families and small groups may require a minivan or van, while larger pilgrimage groups can request minibuses, coaches or multiple vehicles.

The luggage count is especially important. Pilgrims and international visitors often carry more bags than ordinary business travellers, and a vehicle’s maximum seating capacity may leave little room for suitcases when every seat is occupied.

Wheelchairs, folding mobility equipment, child seats and oversized luggage should be declared in advance. This allows an appropriate vehicle to be selected and reduces the risk of delays at pickup.

Useful Travel Information for Madinah

Arabic is the official language. English is commonly used in international hotels, airports and major tourism businesses, but fluency varies among local drivers. Passengers who consider English essential should request an English-speaking driver when booking.

Saudi Arabia uses the Saudi riyal. Card payments are widely accepted at larger hotels, restaurants and shopping centres, although some cash can still be useful for smaller purchases.

Traffic around the central mosque district can become extremely busy before and after prayers. Road closures and temporary access controls may also affect pickup locations and journey times.

Travellers should check current visa, pilgrimage, health and entry requirements before departure. These rules depend on nationality and purpose of travel and may change, particularly during the Hajj season.

Book a Private Transfer from Madinah Airport

WelcomeTaxi provides private airport transfers, chauffeur service and long-distance transportation from Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport. Book direct travel to a Madinah hotel, arrange a private vehicle for local visits or continue by road to Makkah, Jeddah, Yanbu, AlUla or another Saudi destination.

For an accurate quotation, provide your flight details, pickup date and time, complete destination, passenger count and luggage information. Child seats, wheelchairs, additional stops, waiting time and special vehicle requirements should be included in the request.
