Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Services in Cape Town
Cape Town is one of South Africa’s leading tourism and business destinations. Located between Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, the city combines dramatic natural scenery with historic neighbourhoods, beaches, vineyards, modern commercial districts and a busy working harbour.
Visitors arrive throughout the year for holidays, cruises, conferences, sporting events and regional tours. Popular areas include the City Bowl, the V&A Waterfront, Camps Bay, Sea Point, Green Point, Clifton, Constantia, Century City and the Southern Suburbs.
These districts are spread across a large metropolitan area, and many attractions outside the centre are most easily reached by road. WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers and chauffeur services for travellers who prefer direct transportation with a vehicle reserved according to their passenger and luggage requirements.
Cape Town International Airport Transfers
Cape Town International Airport (CPT) is the principal airport serving Cape Town and the Western Cape. It handles domestic and international flights and is the main arrival point for travellers visiting the city, the Cape Peninsula and the Cape Winelands.
Private airport transfers can be arranged between Cape Town International Airport and hotels, apartments, offices, private residences, conference venues and cruise facilities. Common destinations include the city centre, the V&A Waterfront, Sea Point, Green Point, Camps Bay, Clifton, Constantia and Century City.
A pre-booked transfer provides direct transportation from the airport to the passenger’s exact destination. It removes the need to search for a taxi after arrival, compare local transport options or determine whether an available vehicle has enough space for all passengers and luggage.
The service is particularly convenient for families, business travellers and groups requiring vans or minibuses. Larger vehicles should be reserved in advance, especially during the summer tourism season, major conferences and cruise arrival days.
Transfers from Cape Town Airport to the City Centre
Cape Town’s central districts include the City Bowl, the commercial centre, historic streets around the Company’s Garden and several popular hotel areas. Journey times from the airport depend on traffic, the time of day and the exact destination.
A private transfer takes passengers directly to their hotel or address without intermediate stops. This can be especially helpful after an overnight flight, when arriving with children or when carrying luggage that would be inconvenient to manage on public transport.
Airport Transfers to the V&A Waterfront
The V&A Waterfront is one of Cape Town’s most popular accommodation, shopping and entertainment districts. It is also located close to the working harbour, cruise facilities and many city attractions.
WelcomeTaxi can arrange airport transfers directly to Waterfront hotels, apartments and meeting points. Transportation is also available from the Waterfront to Cape Town International Airport, the cruise terminal and destinations elsewhere in the Western Cape.
Transfers to Camps Bay and the Atlantic Seaboard
The Atlantic Seaboard includes Green Point, Sea Point, Bantry Bay, Clifton and Camps Bay. These neighbourhoods are known for ocean views, beaches, restaurants and a wide choice of hotels and private accommodation.
Although the area is relatively close to central Cape Town, the route from the airport crosses busy urban roads. Travel time can increase during weekday commuting periods, major events and peak summer evenings. A pre-booked transfer allows the pickup time and route to be planned in advance.
Cape Town Cruise Terminal Transfers
Cape Town is an important cruise destination and a starting point for regional and international voyages. The Cape Town Cruise Terminal is situated within the harbour area near the V&A Waterfront and central business district.
Private transfers can be arranged between the cruise terminal, Cape Town International Airport and hotels throughout the metropolitan area. Cruise passengers frequently carry several suitcases, so advance booking helps ensure that the selected vehicle has sufficient luggage capacity.
Passengers should provide the name of the ship, expected arrival or boarding time and the exact terminal information available in their cruise documents. Collection can also be combined with transportation to a hotel, airport or regional destination.
Travellers with several hours between disembarkation and a flight may request hourly chauffeur hire. This can combine luggage transportation, selected sightseeing stops and a final drop-off at Cape Town International Airport.
Professional Chauffeur Service in Cape Town
A private chauffeur service is suitable for business schedules, conferences, corporate hospitality, private events and personalised sightseeing. The vehicle and driver remain available for an agreed period, allowing passengers to complete several journeys without arranging separate taxis.
Business itineraries may include offices in the city centre, Century City, the V&A Waterfront, Claremont, Newlands and other commercial districts. Hourly hire is useful when meetings are held at different locations or when waiting time is required between appointments.
Chauffeur service can also be used for shopping, restaurants, weddings and private functions. Passengers should provide the expected duration, pickup location and planned itinerary when requesting a quotation.
Mileage for hourly chauffeur hire is calculated only for journeys completed while the passengers are in the vehicle. The driver’s approach to the initial pickup point is not counted as passenger mileage.
Private Sightseeing Transportation in Cape Town
Cape Town’s major attractions are distributed across the city and surrounding peninsula. A chauffeur-driven itinerary allows visitors to travel directly between selected locations without depending on fixed tour schedules or arranging transportation at every stop.
A city itinerary may include the V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain, Bo-Kaap, the Company’s Garden, Camps Bay and the scenic Atlantic Seaboard. The route can be adjusted according to the available time, weather conditions and passenger interests.
For a longer excursion, transportation can continue along the Cape Peninsula toward Hout Bay, Chapman’s Peak, Cape Point, the Cape of Good Hope and Simon’s Town. Access to particular roads and attractions may depend on weather, maintenance work and local operating conditions.
Travellers should allow sufficient time for sightseeing, meals and attraction queues. Any required stops should be included in the original request so that the appropriate service duration can be calculated.
Transfers to the Cape Winelands
The Cape Winelands are among the most popular destinations for private transfers and chauffeur-driven excursions from Cape Town. Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl offer historic centres, mountain scenery, restaurants, hotels and numerous wine estates.
WelcomeTaxi can arrange one-way transfers between Cape Town, the airport and Winelands accommodation. This is useful for travellers continuing directly from a flight to a hotel, guesthouse or private estate outside the city.
Cape Town to Stellenbosch Transfers
Stellenbosch is a historic university town surrounded by vineyards and mountains. Private transfers are available from Cape Town hotels, the cruise terminal and Cape Town International Airport to addresses throughout Stellenbosch and the surrounding wine region.
Travellers planning several estate visits may book a chauffeur service for an agreed number of hours. The proposed route and stops should be provided in advance, as distances between estates and waiting requirements can vary.
Cape Town to Franschhoek Transfers
Franschhoek is known for its restaurants, accommodation and scenic setting in the Winelands. It is a popular destination for overnight stays, weddings, private events and culinary trips.
A private transfer offers direct transportation from Cape Town or the airport without the need to rent a car. Return transportation or hourly hire can also be arranged for passengers visiting several locations in the area.
Responsible Transportation for Wine Region Visits
A chauffeur-driven vehicle provides a practical option for guests planning wine tastings. Passengers can follow a pre-arranged route without needing to drive afterward. All stops, waiting periods and the expected finishing time should be agreed when booking.
Long-Distance Transfers from Cape Town
Private long-distance transfers are available from Cape Town to destinations throughout the Western Cape. Frequently requested routes include Hermanus, Paarl, Somerset West, Gordon’s Bay, Langebaan and other coastal or inland locations.
These journeys can begin at Cape Town International Airport, a hotel, private address or cruise terminal. Door-to-door travel is particularly convenient for passengers carrying luggage or staying at accommodation that is not easily reached by public transport.
Transfers from Cape Town to Hermanus
Hermanus is a popular coastal destination southeast of Cape Town. Visitors travel there for holidays, coastal scenery, local restaurants and seasonal whale-watching opportunities.
Private transfers can be arranged from Cape Town or directly from Cape Town International Airport. Stops along the route may be possible when requested in advance, but they can affect the total journey duration and price.
Transfers to the West Coast
Transportation is also available from Cape Town to West Coast destinations such as Bloubergstrand, Melkbosstrand, Langebaan and nearby coastal communities. These routes are suitable for private holidays, sporting activities, business visits and transfers to hotels or holiday homes.
Longer journeys require advance planning to confirm vehicle availability and a realistic pickup time. Passengers should provide the complete destination address and all luggage details when requesting the service.
Getting Around Cape Town
Cape Town has buses, suburban rail services, metered taxis and app-based transport. Public transport can be useful on selected routes, but it does not provide equally convenient coverage across every tourism district and regional destination.
Many popular locations are separated by mountains, highways or long coastal roads. A journey between the airport, Camps Bay, Constantia and the Cape Peninsula may involve very different routes even though all destinations are associated with Cape Town.
Traffic can be heavy during weekday morning and afternoon commuting periods. Congestion may also occur around the city centre, Waterfront, stadium and major event venues. Passengers travelling to the airport or cruise terminal should allow a reasonable time margin.
Weather may influence local transportation and sightseeing plans. Strong winds, rain or low cloud can affect mountain attractions, coastal roads and outdoor itineraries. Flexible planning is therefore useful when booking a full-day chauffeur service.
Why Pre-Book Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?
A regular taxi may be suitable for an unplanned short journey, but pre-booked transportation offers greater certainty for airport pickups, cruise transfers, groups and regional travel. The vehicle is selected in advance according to the number of passengers, luggage and requested service.
Advance booking is especially important when a van, minibus or several vehicles are needed. Larger vehicles may not be immediately available at an airport, hotel or cruise terminal without prior arrangements.
Passengers can also request child seats, additional stops and precise pickup instructions before the journey. This creates a clear door-to-door transport plan and reduces the need to make arrangements after arriving in an unfamiliar city.
Useful Information for Booking a Cape Town Transfer
Passengers should provide the complete pickup and drop-off addresses, service date, pickup time, number of travellers and total luggage. Airport bookings should include the flight number, while cruise transfers should state the vessel and terminal details.
For hourly chauffeur hire, include the estimated duration, planned route and intended stops. Long-distance requests should contain the exact destination address and details of any stops required during the journey.
WelcomeTaxi operates as an international private transfer and chauffeur service. Transportation in Cape Town can be arranged with English-speaking drivers, subject to availability, for airport transfers, cruise transportation, business travel, sightseeing and long-distance journeys throughout the Western Cape.
