Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Cancún Airport
Cancún International Airport (CUN) is the principal airport serving Cancún and one of the most important aviation gateways to Mexico’s Caribbean coast. It provides access not only to the city of Cancún but also to the wider Riviera Maya, including Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Akumal and Tulum.
The airport has four terminal buildings connected by a complimentary internal shuttle service. Airlines may use different terminals depending on the route and operating arrangements, so passengers should confirm their arrival or departure terminal before travelling. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}
WelcomeTaxi offers pre-booked private transfers from CUN to hotels, resorts, holiday rentals, ferry terminals and private addresses throughout Quintana Roo. Professional chauffeur service and long-distance transportation can also be arranged for business travel, sightseeing and journeys involving several destinations.
Transportation from CUN to Cancún
Ground transportation from Cancún Airport includes private transfers, ADO buses, authorised taxis, shared shuttles and rental cars. There is no conventional urban railway or metro connection between the airport and central Cancún, so most arriving passengers continue their journey by road.
The most convenient option depends on the number of passengers, luggage, arrival time and exact location of the accommodation. Travellers staying at a resort should remember that “Cancún” may refer either to the downtown area or to the long Hotel Zone extending along the coast.
Pre-Booked Private Airport Transfer
A private transfer provides direct transportation from the airport to the passenger’s hotel or holiday accommodation. The vehicle is reserved for the booking and selected according to the number of travellers and the amount of luggage.
This is especially convenient for families, honeymooners, business travellers and groups arriving with several suitcases. There is no need to wait for other passengers, travel to a central bus station or make additional arrangements after reaching Cancún.
English-speaking drivers may be requested in advance. This can make arrival easier for international visitors and helps avoid misunderstandings about hotel names, resort entrances or pickup locations.
ADO Airport Buses
ADO operates scheduled bus services from Cancún Airport to selected cities and bus terminals. Services may be available to downtown Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and other destinations, depending on the current timetable. Airport buses serve the terminal areas but travel to designated bus stations rather than individual hotels. :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}
The bus can be economical for solo travellers with limited luggage, particularly when their accommodation is close to an ADO station. Passengers staying in the Hotel Zone or at an outlying resort will normally need a taxi or local bus for the final part of the journey.
Authorised Airport Taxis
Taxi and transportation counters are located in the airport arrival areas. Services should be arranged through authorised providers rather than through individuals approaching passengers inside or outside the terminal.
A taxi can provide direct transportation, but availability, vehicle size and pricing may vary. For larger groups or passengers with substantial luggage, reserving the correct vehicle before arrival offers greater certainty.
Shared Shuttle Services
Shared shuttles may offer transportation to hotels and resorts at a lower per-person cost than a private vehicle. However, passengers may have to wait for travellers arriving on other flights and make several hotel stops before reaching their own accommodation.
A private transfer is normally faster and more comfortable because the vehicle travels directly to the booked destination without collecting unrelated passengers.
Rental Cars
Several rental car companies operate at or near Cancún Airport. Renting a car can be useful for travellers planning an independent touring itinerary across the Yucatán Peninsula.
Visitors should consider insurance conditions, deposits, local driving rules, tolls and parking arrangements before accepting a vehicle. A chauffeur-driven transfer may be preferable for passengers who want door-to-door transport without driving immediately after a long flight.
Transfers to Downtown Cancún and the Hotel Zone
Downtown Cancún and the Hotel Zone are distinct areas. Downtown Cancún contains local residential districts, restaurants, shopping centres and the main intercity bus station. The Hotel Zone occupies a long coastal strip with beaches, resorts, nightlife and tourist attractions.
When booking a transfer, passengers should provide the full hotel name rather than simply selecting “Cancún.” Resorts with similar names may be located far apart, and some properties marketed as Cancún hotels are situated outside the city towards Puerto Morelos or Playa del Carmen.
A private transfer takes passengers directly to the hotel entrance. This is particularly useful in the Hotel Zone, where the distance between resorts can be considerable and public buses may be inconvenient with luggage.
Private Transfers along the Riviera Maya
Cancún Airport serves a large part of the Riviera Maya. Many passengers arriving at CUN continue south along Federal Highway 307 to resorts and holiday destinations outside Cancún.
Puerto Morelos
Puerto Morelos is a coastal town located between Cancún and Playa del Carmen. Private transfers can be arranged to hotels, resorts and private villas both near the beach and along the wider resort corridor.
Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen is one of the most frequently requested destinations from Cancún Airport. It is a major resort city and the principal mainland departure point for ferries to Cozumel.
Passengers taking a ferry should provide the scheduled departure time and allow a suitable margin for baggage collection, road travel, ticket procedures and walking to the correct pier. Direct ADO bus services may also operate between the airport and Playa del Carmen’s bus terminal, but they do not provide hotel drop-offs. :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3}
Akumal and Resort Areas
Private transfers are available to Akumal, Puerto Aventuras, Xpu-Há and resorts located along the Riviera Maya. Many properties are set back from the main highway or within gated resort complexes, making door-to-door transportation more practical than a scheduled bus.
Tulum
Tulum is known for its Caribbean beaches, archaeological site, cenotes and extensive hotel zone. Although Tulum International Airport (TQO) now serves the southern Riviera Maya, Cancún Airport remains relevant for travellers whose preferred flight arrives at CUN.
The final destination should be specified carefully because central Tulum, the beach hotel zone and resorts outside the town are separate locations. A private transfer can take passengers directly to the booked accommodation without requiring a change at the local bus station.
Transfers to Ferry Terminals and Islands
Cozumel and Isla Mujeres cannot be reached directly by road, but WelcomeTaxi can arrange transportation to the relevant mainland ferry terminal.
For Isla Mujeres, passengers commonly travel to Puerto Juárez or another operating ferry terminal in Cancún. For Cozumel, the usual route involves a road transfer to Playa del Carmen followed by a passenger ferry.
The ferry ticket is normally separate from the road transportation service. Travellers should check the latest sailing schedule and allow additional time during busy holiday periods or adverse weather.
Professional Chauffeur Service in Cancún
WelcomeTaxi chauffeur service is suitable for corporate meetings, conferences, weddings, private events, restaurant visits and sightseeing. A vehicle and driver may be retained for an agreed number of hours, allowing passengers to travel between several locations without arranging separate taxis.
Hourly hire can be useful for trips involving Cancún hotels, event venues, marinas and attractions. It also provides flexibility for business travellers attending meetings at different resorts or commercial districts.
The planned itinerary, service duration and number of passengers should be provided in advance. Vans or minibuses can be arranged for families, delegations and larger private groups when required.
Long-Distance Transfers from Cancún Airport
Private long-distance transfers can be arranged from CUN to destinations across Quintana Roo and the Yucatán Peninsula. Possible routes include Valladolid, Chichén Itzá, Cobá, Bacalar, Mahahual, Mérida and other cities, archaeological sites or resorts.
Door-to-door travel is particularly useful when the destination is not served by a direct airport bus or when passengers have luggage that would make several transport changes inconvenient.
For longer journeys, the estimated duration, planned stops and final address should be agreed before booking. Multi-day transportation may also be requested for private touring itineraries involving several destinations.
Why Pre-Book Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?
Pre-booking confirms that a suitable vehicle has been reserved before the passenger arrives. This can be important during school holidays, winter travel periods and other times when Cancún Airport and the Riviera Maya receive large numbers of visitors.
The service is planned according to the exact destination, passenger count and luggage requirements. Families requiring child seats and groups needing vans or minibuses can include these requirements in advance rather than searching for an appropriate vehicle at the terminal.
A private transfer also provides direct travel without intermediate hotel stops. After a long international flight, passengers can leave the airport and continue directly to their accommodation instead of waiting for a shared service or arranging several separate journeys.
Useful Information for Arriving Passengers
Passengers should provide their complete flight number, arrival date and hotel name when booking. The flight number helps distinguish the correct arrival terminal and reduces confusion when several flights arrive at similar times.
After collecting luggage and completing immigration and customs procedures, travellers should follow the confirmed pickup instructions. The arrivals area can be busy, and many transport representatives may approach passengers, so it is important to identify the booked provider before leaving with a driver.
Traffic on the road between Cancún, Playa del Carmen and Tulum can become heavy during commuting periods, public holidays and major events. Roadworks or incidents on Highway 307 may also affect journey times.
For departure transfers, the pickup should be scheduled with sufficient time for road travel, airline check-in, baggage procedures and security. Travellers should confirm the correct terminal directly with their airline before leaving the hotel.
Book a Private Transfer from CUN
WelcomeTaxi provides private airport transfers, chauffeur-driven vehicles and long-distance transportation from Cancún International Airport. Services can be arranged to downtown Cancún, the Hotel Zone, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and resorts throughout the Riviera Maya.
Booking in advance offers an organised start to a holiday or business trip, with direct transportation and a vehicle selected for the passengers, luggage and destination.
