Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Girona Airport
Girona-Costa Brava Airport (GRO) is an important gateway to Girona, the Costa Brava, Barcelona, the Catalan Pyrenees, and northeastern Spain. Located near Vilobí d’Onyar, southwest of Girona city, the airport is particularly convenient for travellers staying in the coastal resorts and historic towns of northern Catalonia.
GRO is also used as an alternative arrival airport for Barcelona. However, Girona Airport is not located within Barcelona itself, and the road journey to the Catalan capital is considerably longer than a transfer from Barcelona-El Prat Airport. Passengers should therefore check the airport code carefully before booking accommodation or onward transportation.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers from Girona-Costa Brava Airport to hotels, holiday apartments, villas, railway stations, cruise terminals, marinas, business addresses, and resort destinations. Transportation is available for individual passengers, couples, families, corporate travellers, wedding guests, and larger groups.
Private Transfers from GRO to Girona City
Girona is the closest major city to the airport and is known for its medieval centre, historic walls, cathedral, colourful riverside buildings, restaurants, university, and cultural attractions. A private transfer from GRO provides direct transportation to a hotel, apartment, railway station, office, or private residence in Girona.
The service is particularly convenient for passengers arriving with luggage, families with children, and travellers continuing by high-speed train. Instead of waiting for a scheduled bus and then arranging another journey from the city centre, passengers can travel directly to their final address.
Parts of Girona’s old town contain narrow streets, pedestrian areas, steps, and restricted vehicle access. When an accommodation cannot be reached directly, the driver may use the nearest safe and legal drop-off point.
Girona Airport to Barcelona Transfers
Barcelona is one of the most frequently requested destinations from Girona-Costa Brava Airport. A private transfer provides a direct journey from the airport terminal to a hotel, apartment, cruise port, railway station, exhibition venue, or private address in Barcelona.
This option is especially useful for passengers arriving late in the evening, travelling with several suitcases, carrying sports equipment, or travelling as a family or group. The vehicle is reserved for the booking and does not make scheduled stops to collect or drop off unrelated passengers.
Travellers should remember that GRO and Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) are separate airports. Girona Airport lies northeast of Barcelona, while BCN is located southwest of the city. The correct airport code should always be included in the booking.
Road travel times depend on the exact destination in Barcelona, traffic conditions, road works, and seasonal demand. Additional time should be allowed for journeys during weekday commuting periods, summer weekends, major exhibitions, sporting events, and public holidays.
Costa Brava Airport Transfers
Girona-Costa Brava Airport is well positioned for private transfers to the resorts, fishing villages, beaches, villas, and marinas of the Costa Brava. The coastline extends across a large area, so the precise town and accommodation address are essential when requesting transportation.
Popular destinations include Lloret de Mar, Tossa de Mar, Blanes, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Platja d’Aro, Palamós, Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc, Begur, L’Estartit, Roses, and Cadaqués. Transfers can also be arranged to smaller villages, rural hotels, campsites, golf resorts, and private properties.
Some coastal villas and holiday homes are reached by narrow, steep, or gated roads. Passengers should provide a precise map location, property name, entrance instructions, and a local contact number whenever possible.
During the summer season, traffic can increase significantly on coastal roads and near popular resort centres. Airport departure transfers should therefore be scheduled with an appropriate safety margin.
Bus Services from Girona-Costa Brava Airport
Scheduled bus services connect Girona Airport with Girona city, Barcelona, and selected destinations on the Costa Brava. These services can be economical for individual passengers travelling without much luggage and staying close to a bus stop.
Bus timetables may vary by season and can be coordinated with particular flight schedules. Passengers should check the current route, departure time, luggage policy, and final stop before relying on a bus connection.
A bus usually ends at a central station rather than at the passenger’s hotel or private accommodation. Travellers may therefore need an additional taxi, metro journey, local bus, or walk after arriving at the city terminal.
For families, groups, late arrivals, or accommodation outside a main town, a private airport transfer offers a more direct door-to-door alternative.
Taxis at Girona Airport
Taxis are available from the official airport taxi rank and can be used for journeys to Girona, Barcelona, and other destinations. Fares are generally determined by the taximeter, with possible supplements depending on the route, time, luggage, or applicable tariff conditions.
An airport taxi may be practical for an unplanned short journey. However, immediate availability of larger vehicles cannot always be assumed, particularly when several flights arrive close together or during busy holiday periods.
A pre-booked transfer confirms the vehicle category, passenger capacity, luggage requirements, pickup details, and destination before arrival. This is particularly valuable when passengers need a van, minibus, child seat, or additional baggage space.
Car Rental at GRO
Car rental can be suitable for travellers who plan to explore Catalonia independently and are comfortable driving in Spain. It offers flexibility for visiting rural areas, beaches, mountain towns, and destinations not served frequently by public transportation.
Passengers should consider the complete cost of rental, including fuel, insurance, deposits, tolls where applicable, parking, and any additional driver or equipment fees. Parking can be limited or expensive in central Barcelona, Girona’s historic areas, and popular Costa Brava resorts.
Travellers arriving after a long flight may prefer a private transfer rather than completing rental formalities and driving immediately on unfamiliar roads. Chauffeur service can also provide flexible regional travel without the responsibility of parking or navigation.
Chauffeur Service from Girona Airport
Chauffeur service is suitable for passengers who require more than a direct airport-to-hotel journey. A vehicle and driver can be booked for several hours, a full day, or a personalised regional itinerary.
Hourly hire can be used for business meetings, weddings, property visits, restaurant reservations, golf trips, private events, sightseeing, and travel between several hotels or villas. It can also be arranged for passengers who want to visit Girona before continuing to Barcelona or a Costa Brava resort.
English-speaking drivers make transportation arrangements easier for international visitors. Pickup details, planned stops, waiting arrangements, and the final drop-off can be confirmed before the service begins.
For itineraries with several stops, passengers should provide the complete route and approximate schedule in advance. This allows the required service duration and suitable vehicle to be determined correctly.
Transfers to Figueres and Northern Catalonia
Private transfers are available from GRO to Figueres, known for its historic centre and cultural attractions, as well as to towns throughout northern Catalonia. Transportation can be arranged to hotels, railway stations, private homes, event venues, and rural accommodation.
Other possible destinations include Banyoles, Besalú, Olot, La Garrotxa, Empuriabrava, Roses, and locations near the French border. A private vehicle is particularly useful when the final destination is not close to a railway station or scheduled bus route.
Passengers continuing into France can request cross-border transportation to Perpignan or other suitable destinations. They must carry the identification and travel documents required for the journey.
Long-Distance Transfers to Andorra and the Pyrenees
Girona Airport can be used as a starting point for long-distance transfers to the Catalan Pyrenees, Andorra, mountain hotels, ski resorts, and rural destinations. These journeys involve substantially longer travel times than local airport transfers and should be planned carefully.
Passengers travelling with skis, snowboards, bicycles, or other large equipment should declare these items when booking. A vehicle with appropriate luggage capacity must be selected in advance.
Mountain road conditions can change because of snow, ice, weather, road restrictions, and seasonal traffic. Winter equipment and vehicle suitability may need to be confirmed for the requested destination.
Cross-border journeys to Andorra require passengers to carry the necessary identification and comply with current entry requirements. A generous time allowance is recommended for airport connections after a mountain transfer.
Transfers Between GRO and Barcelona Airport
Private inter-airport transfers can be arranged between Girona-Costa Brava Airport (GRO) and Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN). This service may be required when passengers arrive at one airport and depart from the other on a separate ticket.
The airports are located in different parts of Catalonia, and the road journey crosses the wider Barcelona metropolitan region. Passengers should allow sufficient time for baggage collection, road travel, check-in, security, and possible traffic delays.
A direct private vehicle is especially convenient for families, groups, and passengers carrying substantial luggage. Tight connections should be avoided because road travel times cannot be guaranteed.
Why Book a Private Transfer in Advance?
A pre-booked transfer provides a confirmed pickup arrangement, vehicle class, destination, and luggage capacity. Passengers know that the service has been planned for their flight and journey rather than relying on the immediate availability of a suitable taxi.
The service is private, so the vehicle does not collect unrelated passengers or make scheduled resort stops. Travellers go directly to their hotel, villa, railway station, cruise terminal, or other confirmed address.
Advance booking is particularly helpful for families, groups, passengers arriving at night, and travellers staying in small coastal towns or rural properties. Child seats, larger vehicles, and additional luggage capacity can be requested before travel.
It also provides greater control over airport departure times, business appointments, wedding schedules, ferry connections, and long-distance journeys.
Useful Information for Girona Airport Pickups
Passengers should provide their complete flight number, arrival date, passenger count, luggage, and final destination. The airport code GRO should be included to avoid confusion with Barcelona-El Prat Airport.
The property’s full name and address are essential for Costa Brava resorts and private accommodation. Several hotels, apartment complexes, and campsites may use the name of a nearby town even when they are located outside its centre.
Travellers staying at villas should provide a map location, gate number, host contact, and access instructions. The driver may not be able to enter narrow private roads or pedestrian areas with a larger vehicle.
For return transfers, additional time should be allowed during summer, weekends, public holidays, and periods of heavy traffic. Ferry schedules, event start times, and railway departures should also be considered when choosing the pickup time.
Private Transfers for Holidays and Business Travel
Girona-Costa Brava Airport serves beach holidaymakers, city visitors, business travellers, wedding groups, property owners, cyclists, golfers, and passengers exploring Catalonia. WelcomeTaxi can provide a single airport pickup, a return transfer, chauffeur hire, or a longer regional itinerary.
Services are available between GRO, Girona, Barcelona, Costa Brava resorts, railway stations, cruise terminals, hotels, villas, offices, event venues, and destinations outside Spain. Each booking is arranged according to the route, timing, passenger count, luggage, and required vehicle type.
By booking in advance, passengers receive direct private transportation with an English-speaking driver and a vehicle suitable for their journey. Whether the destination is Girona, Barcelona, a Costa Brava resort, Andorra, or another location in northeastern Spain, a pre-booked transfer provides greater comfort and control from the moment of arrival.
