Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
    Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Katowice Airport

Katowice Wojciech Korfanty Airport (KTW), commonly known as Katowice Airport, is located in Pyrzowice, north of Katowice. It serves Katowice, the Upper Silesian metropolitan area and a large part of southern Poland. The airport is an important base for scheduled and holiday flights, making it a frequent arrival point for business travellers, tourists, families and organised groups.

Katowice Airport is approximately 30–35 kilometres from central Katowice. The journey by road usually takes around 30–45 minutes, although travel time depends on traffic, weather and the final destination within the metropolitan area.

WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private airport transfers from KTW to hotels, apartments, offices, conference venues and residential addresses. Chauffeur service and long-distance transfers can also be arranged to destinations throughout Silesia and other regions of Poland.

Getting from Katowice Airport to the City

Passengers arriving at KTW can choose between a private transfer, public bus, train, regular taxi, ride-hailing service or rental car. Since the airport is outside the city and the Upper Silesian metropolitan area covers numerous neighbouring municipalities, the most convenient option often depends on the exact destination rather than simply the distance to central Katowice.

Pre-Booked Private Airport Transfer

A private transfer offers direct transportation from the airport to the passenger’s hotel, home or business address. The vehicle is reserved exclusively for the booked party, so there is no need to wait for other travellers or make scheduled intermediate stops.

This option is particularly convenient for passengers arriving late at night, carrying several suitcases or travelling with children. It is also suitable for groups that need a minivan, van, minibus or several coordinated vehicles.

The pickup details, destination and vehicle category are arranged before arrival. This reduces uncertainty at the terminal and is especially helpful when travelling to a district or neighbouring city that may not be familiar to every local taxi driver.

Airport Buses

Public bus services connect Katowice Airport with Katowice and other locations in the Upper Silesian region. Airport buses are generally economical and can be practical for passengers travelling to a central stop with limited luggage.

The journey may take longer than a direct private transfer because of scheduled stops and possible waiting time before departure. Passengers staying outside central Katowice may also need to continue by tram, local bus or taxi.

Train Services

Katowice Airport has a railway connection serving Pyrzowice Lotnisko station. Depending on the current timetable and destination, passengers may be able to travel by train towards Katowice and other regional transport hubs.

Rail travel can be useful for passengers with flexible schedules, but it may not provide a direct journey to every part of the metropolitan area. Travellers should check the timetable and any required changes before departure.

Airport Taxis and Ride-Hailing Services

Taxis are available for journeys from KTW to Katowice and surrounding cities. App-based ride-hailing services may also operate at the airport, although availability and pickup arrangements can vary.

A taxi requested after landing may be sufficient for a straightforward trip. However, passengers who require a large vehicle, several child seats, an English-speaking driver or transportation to another city may prefer to reserve the journey in advance.

Car Rental

Car rental is suitable for visitors planning independent travel around Silesia or a multi-city itinerary. The region has an extensive road network, and a rental vehicle offers flexibility for destinations outside major urban centres.

For a short business trip or a stay focused on central Katowice, hiring a car may be less convenient than using a transfer and local public transport. Parking restrictions, traffic and unfamiliar urban roads should also be considered.

Why Pre-Book a Transfer from KTW?

Katowice Airport serves a broad metropolitan region rather than one compact city. A passenger may be travelling to Katowice itself, but the final address could just as easily be in Gliwice, Zabrze, Chorzów, Bytom, Sosnowiec, Tychy or another municipality. Pre-booking ensures that the complete destination is recorded before arrival.

A private airport transfer is particularly useful when:

  • your flight arrives early in the morning or late at night;
  • you are unfamiliar with the Upper Silesian metropolitan area;
  • you have several suitcases or bulky equipment;
  • your group requires a larger vehicle;
  • you need direct transportation to another city;
  • you prefer an English-speaking driver;
  • you have a conference, meeting or fixed onward connection.

Unlike a vehicle hired without advance arrangements, a pre-booked transfer can be matched to the stated number of passengers and suitcases. The journey is direct, and the passenger does not need to compare transport options after a flight.

Chauffeur Service in Katowice and Upper Silesia

Katowice is one of Poland’s main business, conference and cultural centres. WelcomeTaxi’s chauffeur service can be arranged for corporate visits, exhibitions, concerts, sporting events, official delegations and private sightseeing.

A vehicle with a driver may be booked for a single journey or for an agreed number of hours. Hourly hire is useful when the itinerary includes several meetings or stops and the passenger needs the vehicle to remain available between appointments.

Frequently requested locations include the International Congress Centre, Spodek Arena, the Culture Zone, the Silesian Museum, the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, city-centre hotels and major office districts.

Chauffeur service is also available between Katowice and neighbouring cities. The metropolitan area is closely interconnected, and a business itinerary may include meetings in several municipalities during the same day.

An English-speaking driver can be requested, subject to local availability. The service is primarily professional transportation, so passengers requiring a guided tour should arrange a licensed guide separately.

Transfers to Cities in the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Area

Private transfers from KTW are available throughout the Upper Silesian metropolitan area. This large urban region consists of numerous neighbouring cities, each with its own hotels, residential districts, industrial facilities and business centres.

Katowice

Central Katowice is the most common destination from the airport. Transfers can be arranged to hotels, railway stations, offices, event venues and private addresses throughout the city.

Gliwice and Zabrze

Gliwice is an important university, technology and industrial centre west of Katowice. Nearby Zabrze is known for its industrial heritage and medical institutions. Direct transfers avoid the need to travel through central Katowice before continuing west.

Chorzów, Bytom and Sosnowiec

Chorzów, Bytom and Sosnowiec are part of the same metropolitan area but may require different routes from the airport. Providing the full address is essential for accurate journey planning and pricing.

Tychy and Bielsko-Biała

Transfers can also be arranged south towards Tychy and Bielsko-Biała. Bielsko-Biała is an important regional city and a gateway to mountain destinations in the Beskids.

Transfers from Katowice Airport to Kraków

Katowice Airport is frequently used by passengers whose final destination is Kraków. Some airlines and holiday routes operate from KTW rather than Kraków Airport, making direct transportation between Pyrzowice and Kraków an important regional service.

A private transfer provides door-to-door travel from the terminal to a hotel, apartment or business address in Kraków. This avoids travelling first to central Katowice and then changing to another bus or train.

The journey time depends on traffic and the location of the accommodation. Access restrictions in Kraków’s historic centre may mean that the driver must use the nearest authorised stopping point rather than the exact entrance.

Transfers are also available between Katowice Airport and Kraków John Paul II International Airport (KRK), which can be useful for passengers connecting between separately booked flights.

Long-Distance Transfers from Katowice Airport

KTW is well positioned for private road travel across southern Poland. WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance transfers directly from the airport, eliminating the need to reach a railway or bus station with luggage.

Zakopane and the Tatra Mountains

Private transfers are available from Katowice Airport to Zakopane, Kościelisko, Białka Tatrzańska, Bukowina Tatrzańska and other mountain resorts. This option is especially convenient for families, groups and passengers travelling with ski equipment.

Journey times can increase considerably during winter weekends, public holidays and peak tourism periods. Severe weather may also affect mountain roads, so passengers should avoid tight schedules.

Oświęcim and Auschwitz-Birkenau

Transportation can be arranged to Oświęcim and the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum. Passengers should reserve museum admission separately and specify whether they require a one-way transfer or return transportation with waiting time.

A private driver provides transportation but does not replace a licensed museum guide.

Wrocław, Łódź and Warsaw

Long-distance transfers can also be arranged to Wrocław, Łódź, Warsaw and other Polish cities. Door-to-door travel may be preferable to rail when passengers have substantial luggage, require several stops or need transportation to an address outside the city centre.

Cross-Border Transfers

Katowice Airport is within practical driving distance of parts of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. International transfers may be requested to Ostrava, Brno, Prague, Žilina, Bratislava and other destinations, subject to route and vehicle availability.

Passengers are responsible for carrying the documents required to cross international borders. The complete route and nationality-related travel requirements should be checked before departure.

Vehicles for Airport Transfers and Group Travel

A standard private car is generally suitable for one to three passengers with moderate luggage. Families and groups may require a minivan or van, while larger parties can request minibuses, coaches or several vehicles.

The number of suitcases matters as much as the passenger count. A vehicle may have enough seats for a group but insufficient luggage space when every passenger carries a large case.

Skis, bicycles, wheelchairs, musical instruments and other oversized items must be declared in advance. This allows the transport provider to confirm a suitable vehicle and prevents luggage-capacity problems at pickup.

Useful Travel Information

Polish is the official language, while English is widely used in international hotels, business venues and tourism services. English proficiency among drivers may vary, so passengers who consider it essential should request an English-speaking driver when booking.

Poland uses the Polish złoty. Card payments are widely accepted, although carrying a small amount of local currency can still be useful.

Katowice and neighbouring cities have an extensive network of trains, trams and buses. Public transport is useful for local journeys, but a private vehicle may be more practical for airport travel, business schedules and destinations spread across several municipalities.

Winters can bring snow, ice and difficult road conditions. Passengers travelling to mountain resorts or making an important flight connection should allow additional time during severe weather.

Book a Private Transfer from Katowice Airport

WelcomeTaxi provides private airport transfers, chauffeur service and long-distance transportation from Katowice Wojciech Korfanty Airport. Book direct travel to Katowice, another city in Upper Silesia, Kraków, Zakopane or a destination elsewhere in Poland.

For an accurate quotation, provide your flight details, pickup date and time, full destination address, passenger count and luggage information. Child seats, additional stops, oversized equipment and special vehicle requirements should be included in the request.
