Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Luxor International Airport

Luxor International Airport (LXR) is the main airport serving Luxor, Egypt, and one of the key arrival points for travelers visiting the Nile Valley, the temples of ancient Thebes, the Valley of the Kings and the city’s riverfront hotels. The airport is located a short drive from central Luxor, making it convenient for transfers to the East Bank, the West Bank, Nile cruise embarkation points and resort-style hotels along the river. LXR is commonly used by visitors arriving for cultural tours, Nile cruises, private sightseeing programs and multi-city trips through Upper Egypt.

For many travelers, the first transfer in Luxor is more important than it may seem. After a flight, guests often need to reach a hotel, cruise ship, private villa or archaeological site area without delays, language issues or uncertainty about the fare. WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers from Luxor Airport with professional drivers, fixed arrangements and door-to-door service. Instead of looking for transportation after arrival, passengers can have their ride organized in advance according to the flight time, passenger count and luggage requirements.

Transportation Options from Luxor Airport to the City

The most common way to travel from Luxor Airport to the city is by car. The distance to central Luxor is short, and many hotels on the East Bank can usually be reached quickly in normal traffic. Public transport options from the airport are limited for international visitors, especially for those carrying luggage or arriving late in the evening. Some hotels and cruise operators may offer their own shuttle service, but availability, vehicle size and waiting arrangements can vary.

Regular taxis are available at or near the airport, and they may be suitable for short local trips when the passenger is comfortable negotiating the fare and explaining the destination. However, for first-time visitors to Egypt, families, business travelers, cruise passengers or guests with a fixed itinerary, a pre-booked airport transfer is usually a more predictable option. It avoids the need to discuss the price on arrival and reduces the risk of confusion about hotel names, cruise docks or West Bank locations.

Car rental is another possible option, but it is not the most practical choice for many visitors to Luxor. Driving conditions, local road habits, parking near historical sites and navigation across the Nile can be challenging. Most travelers prefer to use a private car with driver, especially when visiting temples, tombs and sites outside the city center.

Private Transfers from LXR to Hotels, Nile Cruises and the West Bank

WelcomeTaxi can arrange private airport transfers from Luxor International Airport to hotels in central Luxor, Nile-side properties, cruise ship embarkation points, guesthouses and private addresses. Popular transfer areas include the Corniche, Karnak area, Luxor Temple area, hotels near the Nile, and West Bank villages used by visitors staying closer to the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens.

For Nile cruise passengers, accurate timing and destination details are especially important. Cruise vessels may use different docking locations, and passengers often arrive with several suitcases. A pre-booked transfer allows the vehicle type to be selected in advance, so the ride can match the number of passengers and the total luggage. This is particularly useful for families, small groups and travelers joining a cruise after an international or domestic flight.

Transfers to the West Bank may take longer than rides to central Luxor, depending on the exact location, road conditions and bridge routing. When booking in advance, passengers can provide the full hotel name, cruise vessel name, pickup instructions or any special notes, helping the driver plan the route more accurately.

Chauffeur Service in Luxor

Luxor is not only an airport transfer destination. Many visitors need a private car with driver for several hours or for a full day. WelcomeTaxi can arrange chauffeur service in Luxor for sightseeing itineraries, business visits, hotel-to-site transportation, cruise connections and flexible local travel. This type of service is useful for travelers who want to visit several places in one day without arranging a new taxi after each stop.

Typical chauffeur routes may include Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, the Colossi of Memnon, the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, Hatshepsut Temple and selected viewpoints or hotel stops. The driver provides transportation only, while guiding services should be arranged separately if a licensed guide is required. This keeps the service clear and transparent: WelcomeTaxi focuses on private transport, airport transfers and chauffeur-driven cars.

English-speaking drivers can be requested where available. This is helpful in Luxor because travelers may need assistance with meeting points, timing, route coordination and basic local orientation. For international visitors, being able to communicate clearly with the driver can make the day smoother, especially when the schedule includes several stops.

Long-Distance Transfers from Luxor

Luxor is a natural starting point for long-distance transfers across Upper Egypt and to the Red Sea. Travelers may need private transport from Luxor to Aswan, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Dendera, Abydos, Hurghada, Marsa Alam or other regional destinations. Some of these journeys are part of a larger Egypt itinerary, while others connect a Nile Valley cultural trip with a beach stay on the Red Sea coast.

Long-distance transfers are best booked in advance because route length, road conditions, luggage, vehicle class and pickup timing all matter. A private transfer can be more convenient than combining trains, buses and local taxis, especially for families, senior travelers, small groups or passengers with fixed hotel check-in times. It also allows direct travel from door to door without unnecessary changes of transport.

Regional airport connections may also be relevant for multi-city trips. Aswan International Airport (ASW) is important for travelers continuing south along the Nile, while Hurghada Airport (HRG) and Marsa Alam Airport (RMF) are often connected with Red Sea resort itineraries. Sohag International Airport (HMB) is geographically closer than some Red Sea airports, although it is less central for typical international leisure routes to Luxor. These airports should be treated as regional connections rather than direct alternatives to Luxor Airport.

Why Book a Private Airport Transfer Instead of a Regular Taxi?

A regular taxi can work for a simple short ride, but it often requires the passenger to handle the fare, destination explanation and vehicle choice on the spot. A pre-booked transfer is more suitable when the arrival time is fixed, the passenger wants a specific vehicle size, or the journey involves a hotel, cruise dock or destination outside central Luxor.

With WelcomeTaxi, the transfer is arranged before travel. The route, pickup time, passenger count and luggage information are provided in advance, helping reduce uncertainty after landing. This is especially valuable in a destination like Luxor, where many visitors arrive for carefully planned tours and cruise programs. A missed connection, wrong meeting point or unsuitable vehicle can create unnecessary stress at the start of the trip.

Private transfers are also useful for travelers who prefer a more discreet and comfortable arrival experience. Instead of negotiating after a flight, passengers can proceed with their planned pickup and continue directly to the hotel, cruise vessel or next destination.

Useful Travel Information for Luxor Airport Passengers

When arranging a transfer from Luxor Airport, it is helpful to provide the flight number, arrival date, arrival time, full destination address and the exact hotel or cruise name. For cruise passengers, the name of the vessel and the cruise company can be important, as docking points may vary. For West Bank transfers, a precise location is recommended because some guesthouses and boutique hotels may not be immediately obvious from the main road.

Travelers should also specify the number of suitcases, hand luggage and any child seats required. Vehicle capacity matters, especially for families and groups. A sedan may be sufficient for one to three passengers with limited luggage, while a van or minibus may be more appropriate for larger groups or cruise travelers with several bags.

Luxor is a destination where private transportation can make the overall trip much easier. Distances inside the city may be short, but sightseeing programs, Nile crossings, West Bank routes and regional journeys require planning. WelcomeTaxi helps international travelers arrange airport transfers, chauffeur service and long-distance transfers from Luxor International Airport with a professional, practical and travel-friendly approach.
