Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Montréal-Trudeau Airport
Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is the principal international airport serving Montreal and one of the main aviation gateways to Quebec and eastern Canada. Located in Dorval, west of central Montreal, the airport handles domestic, transborder and international flights and serves both leisure and business travellers throughout the year.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private airport transfers from YUL to downtown Montreal, hotels, residential addresses, offices and destinations throughout the surrounding region. Travellers can also arrange chauffeur service for business appointments, events and sightseeing, as well as long-distance transfers when their journey continues beyond Greater Montreal.
A private transfer is particularly convenient for passengers travelling with luggage, children or a group, and for anyone who prefers to have transport arranged before landing rather than choosing between different services after arrival.
Getting from YUL Airport to Montreal
There are several ways to travel between Montréal-Trudeau Airport and the city, including public buses, taxis, ride-hailing services, rental cars and pre-booked private transfers. The best option depends on your destination, group size, luggage and travel plans after arriving in Montreal.
Private Airport Transfer
A pre-booked private transfer provides direct transportation from YUL to your hotel, apartment, office or another specified address. Instead of working out public transport connections after a flight or joining the airport taxi queue, passengers have their journey arranged in advance.
This option can be especially practical for arrivals in the evening, families carrying several suitcases, business travellers working to a schedule, and groups that require a larger vehicle. It is also useful when the destination is outside central Montreal and would otherwise require several stages by public transport.
Airport Taxi
Official taxis are available from the arrivals area at Montréal-Trudeau Airport. Trips between YUL and the designated downtown Montreal area use regulated fixed fares, while journeys to other destinations are generally metered. Taking a taxi on arrival is straightforward for travellers whose plans are flexible and who do not require a particular vehicle to be reserved in advance.
A pre-booked transfer differs in that the trip, passenger requirements and destination are arranged before arrival. This can make the journey more predictable when travelling with a family or group, carrying substantial luggage, or continuing directly to a destination outside Montreal.
Public Transport
The STM 747 airport bus provides a 24-hour connection between Montréal-Trudeau Airport and Montreal. Services connect YUL with Lionel-Groulx metro station, while other 747 services continue towards central Montreal. Public transport can be an economical choice for passengers travelling light and staying close to a convenient metro or bus connection.
Montreal's REM rapid-transit network is also being extended directly to YUL. The airport station is expected to enter service in 2027. Until that connection opens, travellers should check the current ground-transport arrangements before their journey, as construction and access patterns around the airport may change.
Ride-Hailing and Rental Cars
Ride-hailing services are another option at YUL, with designated airport pickup arrangements. They may suit passengers comfortable arranging a vehicle by mobile app after landing. Rental cars are useful when a traveller intends to drive independently for several days, particularly for an itinerary involving multiple destinations around Quebec.
For a simple airport-to-hotel journey, however, renting a car can involve unnecessary collection procedures, parking costs and navigation. Montreal also has busy urban traffic and numerous one-way streets, so visitors who do not otherwise need a car may find a private transfer or chauffeur service more convenient.
Private Transfers to Downtown Montreal
Many passengers arriving at YUL travel to central neighbourhoods and hotel districts such as Downtown Montreal, Old Montreal and the area around the major business and shopping streets. A door-to-door transfer removes the need to change between an airport bus, metro and local transport while carrying luggage.
Travel time varies according to the destination and road conditions. Montreal traffic can be significantly heavier during weekday commuting periods, major events and periods of road construction. Pre-booking does not remove traffic delays, but it does mean the ground-transport part of the journey is organised before the passenger arrives.
Chauffeur Service in Montreal
WelcomeTaxi chauffeur service can be arranged for travellers who need a vehicle and driver for more than a straightforward airport transfer. Typical uses include corporate visits, meetings at several locations, conferences, private events, sightseeing and transport between a hotel and appointments throughout the city.
An hourly chauffeur booking is useful when the exact schedule includes several stops or when passengers want the same transport arrangement for a defined period rather than booking separate point-to-point journeys. English-speaking drivers can be requested, making the service convenient for international visitors who want straightforward communication during their stay in Quebec.
Long-Distance Transfers from YUL
Montréal-Trudeau Airport is also a practical starting point for private road transfers beyond the Montreal metropolitan area. WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance transportation to destinations elsewhere in Quebec and neighbouring regions, subject to vehicle availability for the requested route.
Popular onward journeys may include destinations such as Mont-Tremblant, Ottawa, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke and Quebec City. A private long-distance transfer provides a continuous door-to-door journey without collecting a rental car, returning it later or transferring between airport transport and intercity bus or rail services.
This can be particularly useful for families, small groups, travellers with ski equipment or substantial luggage, and passengers heading directly to a resort, private residence or destination not conveniently located near an intercity station.
Regional Travel from Montréal-Trudeau Airport
Quebec covers a large area, and many destinations outside Montreal require considerably more travel planning than a city-centre transfer. Regional buses and shuttles operate on selected routes from YUL, while rail and coach services from Montreal provide additional connections. These can be efficient for travellers whose destination matches the available timetable and station network.
A private transfer offers a different type of journey: the passenger can travel directly from the airport to the final address. This is useful for destinations in the Laurentians, Eastern Townships and other parts of southern Quebec where completing the trip by public transport may involve changes or additional local transport.
Why Pre-Book an Airport Transfer at YUL?
Regular airport taxis are readily available at Montréal-Trudeau, so pre-booking is not essential for every traveller. The main advantage of a private transfer is preparation. Vehicle requirements, passenger numbers, luggage and the final destination can be considered before the journey begins.
Pre-booking is particularly valuable when a standard sedan may not provide enough luggage space, when several passengers want to travel together, or when a specific vehicle category is preferred. It is also convenient for long-distance journeys where taking whichever taxi happens to be next in the queue may not be the most suitable solution.
For corporate travellers, advance booking also makes it easier to coordinate airport transportation with meetings, hotels and onward appointments. For leisure visitors, it provides a simple transition between the flight and the next stage of the trip.
Montreal Metropolitan Airport (YHU)
Greater Montreal now has a second commercial passenger airport. MET – Montréal Metropolitan Airport (YHU), located in Longueuil on Montreal's South Shore, opened its new passenger terminal in 2026 and provides additional domestic air services.
Travellers should check their ticket carefully because YUL and YHU are separate airports on different sides of the metropolitan area. If an itinerary involves arriving at one Montreal airport and departing from the other, a pre-booked airport-to-airport transfer can simplify the connection, particularly when travelling with luggage or on a fixed schedule.
Planning Your Arrival at Montréal-Trudeau Airport
Before travelling, check the airport shown on your booking confirmation, your arrival time and the complete address of your destination. Montreal is bilingual, with French the official language of Quebec, but international visitors will find English widely understood in the travel and tourism environment. WelcomeTaxi can arrange transfers with English-speaking drivers where required.
Passengers should also allow realistic travel time for road conditions, particularly when heading back to YUL for a departing flight. Airport access projects, rush-hour congestion, winter weather and major events can all influence journey times.
Whether you need a straightforward YUL airport transfer to downtown Montreal, a chauffeur for several hours or a private long-distance journey across Quebec, booking ground transportation in advance provides a comfortable door-to-door way to continue your trip.
