Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service in Montreal

Montreal is one of Canada's largest and most distinctive cities, combining a major business centre with historic neighbourhoods, universities, festivals, restaurants and a busy tourism economy. Located on an island in the St. Lawrence River, the city is the principal urban centre of Quebec and an important gateway for travel throughout eastern Canada.

For visitors arriving by air, travelling with luggage or moving between several appointments, a pre-booked private transfer can make local transportation considerably easier. WelcomeTaxi provides private airport transfers, chauffeur service and long-distance transportation in Montreal for individual travellers, families, business passengers and groups.

Montreal Airport Transfers

The main airport serving the city is Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL), located in Dorval west of central Montreal. YUL handles extensive domestic and international traffic and is the principal arrival point for most visitors flying to the Montreal region.

Pre-booking a private transfer from Montréal-Trudeau Airport is a convenient option when travelling directly to Downtown Montreal, Old Montreal, the Plateau, Griffintown, Westmount or another address in the metropolitan area. Instead of arranging transportation after landing, passengers can have their journey organized in advance according to the flight, destination, passenger count and luggage requirements.

Montreal also has Montréal Metropolitan Airport (YHU), situated in Saint-Hubert on the South Shore. Formerly widely known as Montréal Saint-Hubert Airport, YHU has developed into a relevant passenger airport for the Montreal region and provides an alternative arrival point for selected domestic routes. Transfers can be arranged between YHU and Montreal, as well as to destinations elsewhere on the South Shore and in Quebec.

Private Transfer from YUL to Downtown Montreal

Montréal-Trudeau Airport is separated from the central districts by busy urban roads, and journey times can vary substantially with traffic. A private airport transfer is particularly useful for travellers arriving during peak periods, carrying several bags, travelling with children or simply wanting a direct ride to their hotel or residence.

Public transport is available from YUL, including airport bus connections, but a private vehicle avoids transfers and the need to move luggage through stations or crowded services. This can be especially valuable after a long international flight or when several people are travelling together.

Transfers from Montréal Metropolitan Airport

YHU is located southeast of central Montreal, across the St. Lawrence River. The airport can be convenient for travellers whose itinerary begins or ends on the South Shore, but private transfers are also suitable for direct travel between YHU and central Montreal.

Because YUL and YHU are on different sides of the metropolitan area, passengers connecting between the two airports should allow sufficient time for road traffic. A pre-arranged airport-to-airport transfer provides a direct journey without having to organize separate local transport on arrival.

Private Transfers Around Montreal

Montreal has an extensive public transportation network, with metro and bus services covering much of the city. These are practical for many everyday urban journeys, particularly within central neighbourhoods. However, they are not always the most convenient solution for airport arrivals, passengers with substantial luggage, business schedules, families or journeys involving destinations outside the core transit network.

A private transfer provides door-to-door transportation between airports, hotels, residences, offices, conference venues and other addresses. This avoids the need to navigate an unfamiliar transport system and can make travel simpler when an itinerary involves early departures, late arrivals or several passengers travelling together.

Private transportation is also useful for reaching destinations outside central Montreal, including communities on the West Island, Laval and the South Shore. Vehicle selection can be matched to the number of passengers and luggage, which is particularly important for families and groups arriving on long-haul flights.

Chauffeur Service in Montreal

Montreal is an important centre for finance, technology, aerospace, education, culture and international events. Chauffeur service can therefore be useful for both business and leisure visitors who need transportation beyond a simple airport-to-hotel journey.

A chauffeur-driven vehicle can be booked for appointments, meetings, hotel departures, restaurants, events or a sequence of destinations during the day. This type of service is particularly practical when timing matters and passengers prefer to keep the same transportation arrangement rather than finding a new taxi for every journey.

For international visitors, service with English-speaking drivers can make communication about pickup points, destinations and practical travel details easier. Montreal is predominantly French-speaking, while English is also widely used in tourism and business environments.

Long-Distance Transfers from Montreal

Montreal is well positioned for onward travel throughout Quebec and neighbouring regions. A private long-distance transfer can be an attractive alternative to domestic flights, rail or intercity buses when passengers want a direct journey from their hotel, home or airport to the final destination.

Typical regional travel may include destinations such as Mont-Tremblant, Ottawa, Quebec City and other communities across southern Quebec and eastern Canada. Private transportation is particularly useful for journeys involving ski equipment, significant luggage, multiple passengers or destinations that require additional connections by public transport.

Long-distance transfers can also be arranged in the opposite direction, bringing passengers from regional destinations directly to Montreal or to Montréal-Trudeau International Airport. For airport journeys, planning the pickup in advance helps provide sufficient time for the road journey and airline check-in.

Why Pre-Book Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?

A regular taxi is useful for spontaneous short trips within the city, but advance booking offers several advantages for planned transportation. The journey details, pickup point, passenger count and vehicle requirements can be arranged before travel, reducing uncertainty on arrival.

This is especially useful at airports, where travellers may otherwise need to queue or choose transportation after collecting their luggage. Pre-booking also makes more sense for larger groups, special vehicle requirements and long-distance routes where relying on the next available local taxi may not be practical.

For business travellers, an advance reservation also makes scheduling easier. Airport pickups, hotel departures and appointments can be incorporated into the itinerary before the trip begins rather than arranged individually at the last moment.

Getting Around Montreal

Central Montreal includes several distinct areas that visitors frequently travel between. Downtown contains many major hotels, offices and shopping areas, while Old Montreal and the Old Port attract visitors with historic architecture, restaurants and waterfront attractions. Other popular districts include the Plateau Mont-Royal, Mile End and Griffintown.

Road conditions and journey times can change considerably depending on the hour, construction and traffic. Montreal also experiences cold winters and significant snowfall, making additional travel time particularly sensible during adverse weather. When travelling to the airport or to a fixed appointment, it is advisable to plan the pickup with a reasonable time allowance.

The city's public transport network is useful for sightseeing and everyday journeys, while private transfers complement it for airport transportation, door-to-door travel, groups and routes beyond central Montreal. Choosing between them depends on the itinerary, luggage, number of passengers and desired level of convenience.

Pre-Booked Transportation in Montreal

WelcomeTaxi offers an international booking option for travellers who prefer to organize their ground transportation before arriving in Canada. Services can include Montreal airport transfers, private point-to-point journeys, chauffeur service and long-distance transfers to destinations outside the metropolitan area.

Whether you are arriving at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, flying through Montréal Metropolitan Airport, attending meetings in the city or continuing to another destination in Quebec, a pre-booked vehicle provides a straightforward way to organize the road portion of your journey in advance.
