Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service in Salzburg

Salzburg is one of Austria’s most distinctive destinations, known for its Baroque Old Town, musical heritage and dramatic setting beside the Alps. Visitors come to explore Mozart’s birthplace, Hohensalzburg Fortress, Mirabell Gardens and the surrounding lakes and mountains. The city is also an important gateway to ski resorts and holiday destinations across SalzburgerLand.

WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers in Salzburg for airport arrivals, hotel journeys, business travel and regional itineraries. Transport can be arranged between airports, Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, hotels, private addresses and destinations throughout Austria and neighbouring Germany.

Salzburg Airport Transfers

Salzburg Airport (SZG)

Salzburg Airport is the city’s principal airport and the most convenient gateway for many visitors travelling to Salzburg and the surrounding Alpine region. Located west of the city centre, it has direct road access to Salzburg and the main routes towards Austria’s mountain resorts.

A private transfer from Salzburg Airport provides door-to-door transport to a hotel, apartment, business address or railway station. Passengers avoid carrying luggage onto a public bus, waiting at a taxi rank or arranging an additional connection after reaching the city centre.

Airport transfers are particularly useful for families, groups, passengers travelling with ski equipment and visitors arriving during the busy winter season. The vehicle can be selected according to the number of passengers, suitcases and any oversized luggage declared when booking.

Return transfers from Salzburg to SZG can be scheduled around the airline’s recommended check-in time. Although the airport is close to the city, passengers should still allow for traffic, weather and seasonal demand.

Munich Airport (MUC)

Munich Airport in Germany is a relevant alternative gateway for Salzburg, particularly when travellers require a wider choice of international flights. The airport is considerably farther away than Salzburg Airport, but direct road transfers allow passengers to travel to Salzburg without changing trains or carrying luggage through stations.

A private transfer from Munich Airport to Salzburg can begin directly at the terminal and finish at the passenger’s hotel or another confirmed address. The service is suitable for families, business travellers and groups who value a continuous journey between the airport and Austria.

As this is a cross-border route, sufficient time should be allowed for traffic and possible travel delays. Passengers remain responsible for carrying any travel documents required for entry into Austria or Germany.

Private Transfers within Salzburg

Salzburg’s historic centre is compact and much of it can be explored on foot. However, hotels, residential neighbourhoods, event venues and business addresses are spread across a wider urban area. A private transfer is convenient for journeys involving luggage, fixed appointment times or destinations outside the pedestrian centre.

Transport can be arranged between Salzburg Airport, Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, Old Town hotels, conference venues and private accommodation. Transfers are also useful for concerts, weddings, corporate events and journeys to locations beyond the regular city transport network.

Individual travellers and couples may choose a sedan, while families and larger parties can request a minivan, van, minibus or coach where available. Ski equipment, musical instruments and other oversized items should be declared in advance so that a suitable vehicle can be assigned.

Salzburg Chauffeur Service

A chauffeur service in Salzburg provides flexible transportation for business schedules, sightseeing and special events. Hourly or daily bookings allow the vehicle and driver to remain available for the agreed service period, reducing the need to arrange a separate taxi after every stop.

Business travellers can organise airport pickup followed by transport to hotels, offices, exhibition venues and meetings. Chauffeur service is also suitable for corporate hospitality, delegations and itineraries involving appointments in Salzburg and nearby cities.

For leisure travellers, a private chauffeur makes it easier to visit several attractions in one day. An itinerary can combine central Salzburg with locations outside the city, subject to the confirmed route and booking duration. English-speaking drivers can be requested for international passengers, subject to availability.

Private Sightseeing from Salzburg

Salzburg is ideally positioned for day trips into the Austrian Alps, the Salzkammergut lake region and nearby Bavaria. Private transportation allows travellers to create an itinerary around their interests without following the fixed timetable of a group excursion.

Hallstatt and the surrounding Salzkammergut region are among the most popular destinations from Salzburg. Other possible routes include St. Wolfgang, Bad Ischl, Mondsee and the lakeside communities east of the city.

Cross-border journeys to Berchtesgaden and the Bavarian Alps can also be requested. As with other international routes, passengers should carry the documents required for crossing between Austria and Germany.

A chauffeur provides transportation and waiting service but is not automatically a licensed tour guide. If specialist guiding is required, it should be arranged separately. Sharing the complete itinerary in advance allows the necessary mileage and service time to be calculated accurately.

Transfers to Ski Resorts and Alpine Destinations

Salzburg Airport is a major arrival point for winter holidays in the Austrian Alps. Private ski transfers can be arranged to Zell am See, Kaprun, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Bad Gastein, Obertauern, Flachau and other resorts across SalzburgerLand.

Long-distance transfers are also available to Kitzbühel, Schladming and additional destinations in neighbouring regions. Availability may depend on the route, weather conditions and vehicle requirements.

A private ski transfer provides direct transport from the airport to the accommodation, avoiding changes between buses and trains. It is particularly practical for families and groups carrying skis, snowboards, boots and winter luggage. All equipment should be listed when booking because it affects the required vehicle capacity.

Mountain travel may take longer during snowfall, heavy weekend traffic and peak holiday periods. Pickup times should include an appropriate allowance for winter road conditions and flight check-in requirements.

Long-Distance Transfers from Salzburg

WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance private transfers from Salzburg to Vienna, Innsbruck, Graz, Munich and other regional destinations. Direct transport can also be organised to hotels, resorts and rural properties that are not easily accessible by public transport.

A private intercity transfer is useful when passengers have substantial luggage, are travelling in a group or need to reach a precise address. The journey begins at the agreed pickup point and continues directly to the final destination without station changes.

Long-distance bookings can include planned stops when these are confirmed in advance. The itinerary should specify every required destination so that the correct journey duration and price can be prepared.

Why Pre-Book Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?

A taxi from the airport or a city rank may be adequate for a short local journey, but advance booking offers important advantages for airport, ski resort and intercity travel. The route, pickup time, passenger count, luggage and vehicle category can all be confirmed before the journey.

Pre-booking is especially valuable during the winter ski season, the Salzburg Festival, Christmas market periods and major events, when local transport demand can be high. It also helps ensure that a vehicle with enough space for the entire group and its luggage is available.

For long-distance journeys, a pre-arranged service removes the need to negotiate a fare or find a local taxi willing to travel outside Salzburg. Families can request child seats, while groups can reserve one larger vehicle instead of relying on several separate taxis.

Getting Around Salzburg

Salzburg has an extensive public transport network consisting of trolleybuses, buses and suburban rail services. Public buses connect Salzburg Airport with the city centre and Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, while regional trains provide access to destinations across Austria and Germany.

Public transport is practical for many journeys, particularly within the central area. However, passengers with luggage may find transfers between stops inconvenient, and some hotels, resorts and rural destinations require additional connections.

The historic centre includes pedestrian zones and streets with restricted vehicle access. Depending on the accommodation, the closest permitted pickup or drop-off point may be a short walk from the entrance. Passengers should provide the exact hotel name and address so that access arrangements can be checked.

Useful Information for Your Salzburg Transfer

When booking, provide the complete pickup and drop-off addresses, travel date, requested time, number of passengers and approximate luggage quantity. Airport passengers should include their flight number, while railway passengers should provide the train arrival details where relevant.

Families should request child seats in advance and specify the age or size of each child. Travellers carrying skis, snowboards, bicycles or other oversized items must declare them before confirmation.

For mountain destinations, accommodation may be located on narrow roads or in areas with seasonal access conditions. A precise address and any instructions supplied by the hotel will help ensure that the correct vehicle and route are selected.

Whether you need a transfer from Salzburg Airport, a chauffeur for city appointments or private transportation to an Alpine resort, WelcomeTaxi can organise the journey around your confirmed travel plans.
