Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Munich Airport

Munich Airport (MUC), also known as Flughafen München, is the principal international airport serving Munich, Bavaria and much of southern Germany. Located approximately 30 kilometres northeast of central Munich, it is an important arrival point not only for visitors to the Bavarian capital but also for travellers continuing to business centres, historic towns, Alpine resorts and destinations in neighbouring Austria.

WelcomeTaxi offers pre-booked private airport transfers from Munich Airport for individual travellers, families, business passengers and groups. A private transfer provides direct transportation from the airport to your specified destination without changing trains, carrying luggage through stations or waiting for an available taxi after arrival. Chauffeur services and long-distance transfers can also be arranged for journeys beyond Munich.

Getting from Munich Airport to Munich

Munich has a well-developed public transport network, and passengers arriving at MUC can choose between suburban trains, airport buses, taxis, rental cars and pre-booked transfers. The best option depends on your destination, group size, luggage and schedule.

S-Bahn Trains

The S1 and S8 S-Bahn lines connect Munich Airport directly with the city. The S1 approaches central Munich from the west, while the S8 runs through the eastern part of the city. Together they provide frequent connections, with trains alternating at approximately ten-minute intervals. The journey to Munich Hauptbahnhof, the central railway station, takes around 40 minutes.

The S-Bahn is an efficient choice for passengers travelling light and staying close to a conveniently located station. However, reaching a hotel may still require a walk, an underground connection, a tram or another taxi. Travelling with several suitcases, children, sports equipment or a larger group can therefore make a direct airport transfer considerably easier.

Lufthansa Express Bus

The Lufthansa Express Bus operates between Munich Airport and the city, serving Munich North and Munich Central Station. It is available to passengers regardless of airline and normally runs at frequent intervals. The bus is useful for travellers whose accommodation is close to one of its stops, although an additional connection may still be necessary for the final part of the journey.

Regular Airport Taxis

Taxis are available at Munich Airport and provide door-to-door transportation without advance planning. They can be convenient for spontaneous travel, but the final fare depends on the journey and traffic conditions. During major events, trade fairs, holidays and periods of heavy flight arrivals, demand may also be higher.

A pre-booked private transfer offers a different type of service: the vehicle is arranged in advance for your itinerary, and the expected price and vehicle category are known before the journey. This can be particularly useful after a long flight or when travelling on a fixed business schedule.

Rental Cars

Car rental is widely available at Munich Airport and can be practical for travellers planning an extended self-drive tour of Bavaria. For visitors whose main purpose is sightseeing in Munich itself, however, a rental car may be less convenient because central Munich has extensive public transport and driving involves parking and city traffic. A private transfer is often simpler when a car is only needed for the journey between the airport and accommodation.

Private Transfers from MUC to Munich Hotels and Addresses

A WelcomeTaxi airport transfer can take you directly from Munich Airport to a hotel, apartment, private address, office or transport hub. Popular destinations include Munich city centre, the area around Marienplatz, Hauptbahnhof, Schwabing, Maxvorstadt, Bogenhausen, the Messe München exhibition grounds and hotels throughout the metropolitan area.

Pre-booking is especially useful for travellers arriving late in the evening, families with substantial luggage and groups requiring a van or minibus. Instead of dividing passengers between several regular taxis, an appropriately sized vehicle can be arranged in advance.

English-speaking drivers can be requested where available, which may make arrival easier for international visitors unfamiliar with Munich or the German transport system.

Munich Chauffeur Service for Business and Leisure

Munich is one of Germany's most important business destinations and hosts major corporate headquarters, conventions, exhibitions and international events. Chauffeur service is suitable for passengers who require transportation beyond a simple airport-to-hotel journey.

A chauffeur-driven vehicle can be arranged for business meetings, corporate roadshows, hotel-to-event transportation, sightseeing or hourly hire. This allows travellers to use the same transportation solution for several appointments rather than arranging a new taxi for every sector.

Chauffeur service can also be useful during major Munich events such as Oktoberfest and large exhibitions at Messe München, when transportation demand can be particularly strong. Advance booking helps ensure that the required type of vehicle is organized before arrival.

Long-Distance Transfers from Munich Airport

Munich Airport is well positioned for onward road travel throughout Bavaria and the Alpine region. WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance transfers directly from MUC to destinations that would otherwise require combinations of trains, buses and local taxis.

Typical regional journeys include transfers to Augsburg, Ingolstadt, Regensburg, Nuremberg, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and towns around Bavaria's lakes and Alpine foothills. Private transportation can also be arranged towards Neuschwanstein Castle and the Füssen area, making it possible to travel directly from the airport without returning first to central Munich.

Cross-border transfers are particularly relevant in this part of Europe. Munich is within practical driving distance of western Austria, and private transfers can continue to Salzburg, Innsbruck, Tyrol and other Alpine destinations. For travellers carrying skis or substantial winter luggage, a direct vehicle can be considerably more comfortable than changing between several forms of public transport.

Ski Resort and Alpine Transfers

Munich Airport is frequently used as an arrival gateway for winter holidays in Bavaria, Austria and the northern Alps. Depending on the destination, public transport may involve a train to Munich or another regional station followed by additional rail or bus connections.

A pre-booked airport transfer provides a direct alternative for resorts and mountain towns, particularly for families and groups. When booking, passengers should specify their luggage requirements and mention skis, snowboards or other oversized equipment so that an appropriate vehicle can be selected.

Transfers Between Munich and Other Airports

Travellers occasionally need transportation between airports because of separate airline tickets, alternative flight schedules or changes to an itinerary. Long-distance private transfers can connect Munich Airport with other regional gateways such as Memmingen Airport (FMM) and Nuremberg Airport (NUE).

Cross-border airport transfers can also be arranged between Munich and Salzburg Airport (SZG) or Innsbruck Airport (INN). These journeys are particularly useful when flight schedules make an alternative airport more practical for an Alpine holiday or multi-city itinerary.

Why Pre-Book an Airport Transfer?

Munich has good public transport and readily available ground transportation, so a private transfer is not the only way to reach the city. Its main advantage is convenience. The trip is planned around your own destination rather than a railway or bus route, and there is no need to navigate a transport network immediately after landing.

Pre-booking is especially valuable when travelling with children, several passengers, heavy luggage or when the destination lies outside central Munich. It also makes budgeting easier because the transportation arrangement is made before arrival rather than being decided at the airport.

For longer journeys, the benefit becomes even clearer. Travelling from MUC directly to another Bavarian city, an Alpine resort or an Austrian destination can eliminate several connections and the need to handle luggage repeatedly along the way.

Useful Information for Arriving Passengers

Munich Airport has two main passenger terminals connected through the Munich Airport Center area. When booking an airport pickup, provide the correct flight details so that the transfer can be associated with the appropriate arrival.

Travel time by road varies considerably according to destination and traffic. Munich's morning and afternoon rush periods can affect journeys into and across the city, while large exhibitions, football matches, Oktoberfest and holiday weekends may create additional congestion. Allowing sufficient time is particularly important when booking a transfer from Munich back to the airport for a departing flight.

Passengers travelling farther into Bavaria or across the Austrian border should also take seasonal conditions into account. Roads towards Alpine destinations can become busier during ski weekends and holiday changeover periods, and winter weather may increase journey times.

Whether you need a straightforward transfer from MUC to central Munich, a chauffeur for several appointments or a long-distance vehicle to another city or resort, advance planning provides a simpler start to your journey in Germany.
