Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Private Transportation in Split

Split is one of the main travel hubs on Croatia’s Adriatic coast and an important starting point for holidays throughout Central Dalmatia. The city combines its historic centre and famous waterfront with a busy ferry port, marinas, beach resorts and road connections to destinations throughout Croatia. Whether you are arriving for a city break, continuing to an island ferry, travelling to a coastal resort or beginning a longer tour of the country, arranging transportation in advance can make the journey significantly easier.

WelcomeTaxi offers pre-booked private transfers and chauffeur service in Split for individual travellers, families, business passengers and groups. Services can be arranged between airports, hotels, villas, ferry terminals, marinas and other destinations, as well as for longer journeys along the Croatian coast.

Split Airport (SPU) Transfers

Split Airport (SPU), officially Split Saint Jerome Airport, is the main airport serving Split and Central Dalmatia. The terminal is located near Kaštela, approximately 20 km from Split and only about 6 km from Trogir. Because the airport also serves many of the resorts, islands and coastal towns surrounding Split, road traffic can become particularly busy during the summer holiday season.

A pre-booked private transfer from Split Airport provides direct transportation from the terminal to your accommodation or onward connection. Instead of arranging a taxi after landing or navigating public transport with luggage, passengers can travel directly to a hotel, apartment, villa, marina or ferry terminal in a vehicle selected for their group size and baggage requirements.

Airport transfers can also be booked in the opposite direction, with pickup from Split or surrounding resorts and transportation directly to SPU. Advance booking is especially useful during the high season, when traffic and passenger volumes increase considerably.

Zadar Airport (ZAD) as a Regional Alternative

Zadar Airport (ZAD) lies farther north and primarily serves Zadar and northern Dalmatia, but it can be relevant for travellers whose Croatian itinerary includes both Split and destinations farther up the coast. A private long-distance transfer between Zadar Airport and Split can be a practical solution when the preferred flight arrives at ZAD or when passengers are planning a multi-city journey through Dalmatia.

For most visitors staying in Split, SPU remains the natural airport choice. ZAD is better considered as an alternative gateway for selected flight schedules, regional tours and journeys combining Split with Zadar, Šibenik or other destinations in northern and central Dalmatia.

Private Transfers from Split to Dalmatian Resorts

Split is particularly well positioned for road travel along the Croatian coast. Private transfers can be arranged to nearby Trogir, the beaches and accommodation areas around Omiš, the Makarska Riviera, Šibenik and other Dalmatian destinations. This is convenient for travellers who prefer a direct door-to-door journey rather than changing between buses or arranging several separate taxis.

Long-distance transfers are also suitable for journeys from Split to Dubrovnik, Zadar, Zagreb and other Croatian cities. They can be especially useful for families with luggage, groups requiring a van or minibus, passengers with complicated itineraries, and travellers who value a predictable pickup time and a private vehicle.

Transfers to Split Ferry Port and Marinas

Split is not only an airport destination but also one of Croatia’s most important maritime gateways. Ferry and fast-boat services connect the city with numerous Dalmatian islands, making the port an important transfer point for visitors travelling onward to destinations such as Hvar, Brač, Šolta, Vis and Korčula.

A private transfer can connect Split Airport directly with Split ferry port, helping passengers move between a flight and their sea connection without organising separate transportation on arrival. Transfers can also be arranged between SPU and marinas in the Split and Trogir area for travellers joining private yachts, sailing holidays or charter boats.

When travelling to meet a scheduled ferry or flight, it is sensible to allow additional time during the busy summer months. Coastal roads and the approaches to Split can become congested, particularly on peak travel days.

Chauffeur Service in Split

For journeys that require more flexibility than a simple point-to-point transfer, WelcomeTaxi can arrange chauffeur service in Split. A private car with a professional English-speaking driver is suitable for business appointments, sightseeing, events, restaurant visits, shopping trips and customised travel around the region.

Chauffeur hire can also work well for travellers who want to explore several destinations without repeatedly booking individual rides. An itinerary might combine Split, Trogir and nearby coastal locations, or extend farther into Dalmatia according to the passenger’s schedule.

Depending on the number of passengers and luggage, transportation can be arranged using suitable sedans, premium vehicles, vans, minibuses or other appropriate vehicle categories.

Getting Around Split

Central Split is compact, and much of the historic area around Diocletian’s Palace and the Riva waterfront is best explored on foot. For journeys beyond the centre, local buses and taxis are available. Split Airport is also served by airport shuttle and public bus connections.

Public transportation can be economical for straightforward journeys, but it may be less convenient when travelling with several suitcases, children or a larger group. Connections between an airport, accommodation and ferry departure can also become complicated when several transport services must be coordinated.

A private transfer provides a simpler alternative for journeys where timing and door-to-door transportation matter. The vehicle is reserved for your party, the pickup location is arranged in advance, and there is no need to search for another taxi at each stage of the trip.

Why Pre-Book a Transfer Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?

Regular taxis remain useful for spontaneous short journeys within Split, but pre-booking has several advantages for airport and long-distance travel. Passengers know that transportation has been arranged before the journey begins, can select a vehicle suitable for their party, and can provide important trip information in advance.

This becomes particularly valuable when arriving on an evening flight, travelling during the summer season, carrying substantial luggage or continuing beyond Split to another town or resort. For groups, reserving the correct vehicle in advance also avoids the need to split passengers and luggage between several cars.

Pre-booked transportation is equally useful when the destination is outside the normal urban taxi area. Instead of negotiating a longer journey after arrival, the route can be organised in advance as a dedicated private transfer.

Long-Distance Transfers from Split

Split is an excellent starting point for private road journeys across Dalmatia and the rest of Croatia. Popular transfer directions include Split to Trogir, Omiš, Makarska, Šibenik, Zadar and Dubrovnik, as well as longer journeys towards Zagreb and other regions of the country.

Private long-distance transportation can also connect different parts of a wider Adriatic itinerary. Travellers can use Split as one stage of a journey involving airports, seaside resorts, ferry ports and historic cities without relying entirely on fixed public transport schedules.

For multi-stop travel, business programmes or sightseeing days, chauffeur service may be more suitable than booking several independent transfers. The itinerary can then be organised around the passenger’s planned stops and required service period.

Book a Private Transfer in Split

WelcomeTaxi provides an international booking service for private airport transfers, chauffeur-driven transportation and long-distance journeys in Split and throughout Croatia. Services can be arranged for arrivals at Split Airport (SPU), regional journeys involving Zadar Airport (ZAD), transfers to hotels and resorts, ferry connections, business travel and customised itineraries.

By booking transportation in advance, passengers can organise an important part of their journey before arriving in Croatia and travel directly between the airport, city, coast and onward destination with a professional English-speaking driver.
