Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a ride?

We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.

What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?

If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.

If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.

How do I know if my order has been accepted?

After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

How do I change my booking?

To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.

Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking in two ways:

  1. Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
  2. By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.

If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.

Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.

How will I find my driver?

For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).

Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.

For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.

How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?

WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.

Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.

I can’t find my driver. What should I do?

If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.

Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.

If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.

Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Split Airport

Split Airport (SPU) is the principal airport serving Split and the central Dalmatian coast of Croatia. The airport is located near Kaštela, approximately 20 km from Split and only around 6 km from the historic town of Trogir. It is one of Croatia’s busiest airports and becomes particularly active during the summer season, when international flights bring visitors to Split, the Dalmatian islands and coastal resorts.

WelcomeTaxi offers pre-booked private airport transfers from Split Airport to hotels, apartments, villas, marinas, ferry terminals and other destinations throughout the region. Chauffeur-driven vehicles can also be arranged for business travel, sightseeing, events, hourly hire and longer journeys across Croatia.

Getting from Split Airport to Split

Passengers arriving at SPU have several ways to reach Split. Public buses connect the airport area with Split and Trogir, while airport shuttle services, taxis, private transfers and rental cars are also available. During parts of the tourist season, boat connections may provide another option between the airport area and Split harbour.

Local Promet bus line 37 operates between Trogir, Split Airport and Split. It is useful for budget-conscious travelers, although passengers with substantial luggage may find the journey less convenient because the city terminus is not directly beside every hotel or accommodation area.

Regular taxis are available for travelers who prefer a direct road journey. However, during the busy summer months, passenger volumes at Split Airport can be high and demand for ground transportation increases considerably. A pre-booked private transfer removes the need to arrange transportation after landing and is particularly practical for families, groups, passengers carrying several suitcases and visitors arriving for onward travel outside Split.

Pre-Booked Private Airport Transfers

With a private transfer, the vehicle is reserved in advance according to the route, passenger count and luggage requirements. Instead of deciding between buses and taxis after arrival, travelers can proceed with transportation already arranged for their destination.

Private transfers are available between Split Airport and Split city centre as well as neighborhoods, hotels and private accommodation across the wider urban area. Transfers can also be booked to Trogir, Kaštela and destinations farther along the Adriatic coast.

Split Airport Transfers to Dalmatian Resorts

Split Airport is an important arrival point not only for Split itself but for a large part of central Dalmatia. Many passengers continue directly from SPU to seaside resorts, holiday villas, yacht marinas or ferry connections rather than staying in the city.

WelcomeTaxi can arrange direct transportation from the airport to destinations such as Trogir, Marina, Primošten, Šibenik, Omiš, Brela, Baška Voda, Makarska and other coastal towns. A private transfer is especially useful when the final accommodation is outside the main public transport network or when several passengers are traveling together.

Travelers joining yachts or charter boats can also arrange transportation to marinas around Split, Trogir, Kaštela and Šibenik. For passengers continuing to Croatia’s islands, a transfer can be scheduled to Split ferry port or another appropriate mainland port.

Chauffeur Service in Split and Central Dalmatia

Airport transportation can be combined with chauffeur service for travelers who require a vehicle beyond a simple point-to-point transfer. Chauffeur-driven cars and vans are suitable for corporate visitors, private sightseeing, weddings, conferences, yacht charters and travelers making several stops in one day.

Hourly chauffeur service provides additional flexibility for meetings or sightseeing around Split, Trogir and the surrounding coast. Longer hire periods can also be arranged for itineraries involving several cities. English-speaking drivers can be requested where available, which can make international travel and coordination easier.

Long-Distance Transfers from Split Airport

Road transportation from SPU is not limited to the immediate Split region. WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance private transfers to destinations throughout Croatia, including Zadar, Šibenik, Makarska, Dubrovnik, Zagreb and other cities.

Cross-border transfers can also be requested for destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and other neighboring countries, subject to route and vehicle availability. Popular regional journeys can include Split Airport to Mostar, Međugorje or Sarajevo. For international journeys, passengers should carry the travel documents required for every border crossed.

A private long-distance transfer is often attractive when travelers want a direct door-to-door journey without changing buses, carrying luggage between stations or adapting their schedule to public transport timetables. It can be particularly practical for families and small groups, where the cost can be shared between several passengers.

Transfers Between Split and Other Airports

Split Airport is the natural airport for most journeys to Split, but alternative airports can be useful for open-jaw itineraries, seasonal flight schedules or trips covering several parts of the Adriatic coast. Zadar Airport (ZAD) lies to the north and provides another gateway to Dalmatia. Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) serves southern Dalmatia, while Mostar Airport (OMO) in neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina can be relevant for itineraries combining the Croatian coast with Herzegovina.

WelcomeTaxi can arrange airport-to-airport and city-to-airport transfers, allowing travelers to arrive through one airport and depart from another without arranging separate local transport.

Why Pre-Book Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?

A taxi from the airport can be convenient for a simple trip into Split, but pre-booking becomes more valuable when the journey involves a distant resort, a large group, special luggage requirements or a fixed onward itinerary.

Booking in advance allows the appropriate vehicle category to be selected before travel. This is useful for passengers carrying several suitcases, families requiring more passenger space and groups that may need a van or minibus rather than several separate taxis.

Pre-booking also makes long-distance journeys easier to organize. The route and service requirements are established before arrival rather than negotiated at the airport, and transportation can be arranged directly to the final hotel, villa, marina or another city.

Useful Travel Information for Split Airport Arrivals

Split Airport serves Split, Kaštela and Trogir and is positioned west of Split on the Dalmatian coast. Because tourism in the region is highly seasonal, summer road traffic can be significantly heavier than at quieter times of year. Travelers heading to Split ferry port or continuing toward coastal resorts should therefore allow adequate time for onward connections.

Split itself is a major transport hub for the Croatian islands. Ferries and catamarans leave the city for destinations including Brač, Hvar, Vis and other Adriatic islands. Passengers with a same-day ferry connection should plan their airport pickup and road transfer with sufficient margin rather than relying on an extremely tight connection.

Trogir is considerably closer to the airport than central Split, making SPU particularly convenient for accommodation and yacht charters in the Trogir and Kaštela area. Travelers continuing south toward Omiš or the Makarska Riviera normally pass through or around the Split urban area, where seasonal congestion can affect journey times.

Book a Private Transfer from Split Airport

WelcomeTaxi provides international private transfer and chauffeur services for passengers arriving at Split Airport (SPU). Services can be arranged for a simple airport-to-hotel journey, transportation to a coastal resort, chauffeur hire around Split or a long-distance trip elsewhere in Croatia and the surrounding region.

By arranging the journey before arrival, travelers can choose a vehicle appropriate for their group and continue directly from the airport to their destination.
