Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service in Makkah
Makkah, also widely known in English as Mecca, is one of the most important religious destinations in the world and receives millions of visitors travelling for Umrah and Hajj, as well as residents, families and business travellers. The city is located in western Saudi Arabia and forms part of a major travel corridor linking Makkah with Jeddah, Madinah and other destinations in the Hejaz region.
WelcomeTaxi provides pre-booked private transfers and chauffeur services for travellers who prefer to organise their transportation in advance. Services can include airport pickups, hotel transfers, point-to-point journeys within the wider Makkah area, hourly chauffeur hire and long-distance transfers to destinations elsewhere in Saudi Arabia.
Jeddah Airport Transfers to Makkah
Makkah does not have its own commercial passenger airport. Most international visitors travelling by air use King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) in Jeddah, which is the principal aviation gateway for the region and one of the main arrival points for pilgrims travelling to Makkah.
A pre-booked private transfer from Jeddah Airport to Makkah provides direct transportation from the airport to a hotel, residence or other accessible destination in the city. Instead of arranging transport after landing, passengers can reserve a suitable vehicle before travelling and continue directly toward Makkah after arrival.
This option is particularly convenient for families, elderly passengers, travellers carrying substantial luggage and groups who prefer to travel together. Larger vehicles can be arranged where available for passengers who require more space than a standard sedan.
Pickup from King Abdulaziz International Airport
Passengers booking an airport pickup should provide accurate flight information when making their reservation. This helps coordinate the service with the scheduled arrival and makes airport collection easier to organise.
King Abdulaziz International Airport is connected with Makkah by road as well as the Haramain High Speed Railway. A private transfer offers a different type of journey, providing direct door-to-door transportation without the need to travel between railway stations and hotels or manage luggage during additional connections.
Private Transfers in Makkah
Transportation in Makkah can become particularly busy during Umrah periods, Ramadan and the annual Hajj season. Traffic conditions, road restrictions and access arrangements may change depending on the time of year and the location of the passenger’s accommodation.
A pre-booked private transfer is useful when the pickup time and destination are already known. It can be arranged between hotels, residences, transport terminals and other accessible locations across the wider city area, subject to local traffic regulations and any temporary access restrictions.
WelcomeTaxi services are reserved before travel rather than hailed on the street. Passengers can provide their pickup location, destination, number of travellers and vehicle requirements in advance, making the journey easier to plan.
Chauffeur Service in Makkah
Hourly chauffeur service is suitable for travellers who require a vehicle for several hours rather than a single transfer. This can be useful for families, business visitors and guests who need transportation between several locations during the same day.
The vehicle remains available for an agreed period, providing greater flexibility than arranging individual rides for every movement. Chauffeur hire can also be useful for travellers staying outside the most central areas or combining Makkah with nearby destinations.
English-speaking drivers can be requested for international passengers, helping with communication regarding pickup arrangements, routes and schedule changes.
Makkah to Jeddah Private Transfers
Jeddah is one of the most common destinations for travellers leaving Makkah. The two cities are linked by major roads and the Haramain High Speed Railway, while King Abdulaziz International Airport is located on the Jeddah side of the corridor.
A private transfer from Makkah to Jeddah provides direct transportation from a hotel or other pickup point to an address in Jeddah. The same service can be used for travel from Makkah to Jeddah Airport for an international or domestic departure.
Pre-booking is particularly convenient for passengers with luggage, families and groups who prefer not to change between local transport and intercity services.
Makkah to Madinah Transfers
Madinah is another major destination for religious travellers and is frequently combined with Makkah in the same itinerary. Private long-distance transfers can be arranged between the two cities for passengers who prefer a direct road journey.
Door-to-door transportation can be especially useful when travelling with elderly family members, children or substantial luggage. It also removes the need to reach a railway station before departure and arrange another vehicle after arriving in Madinah.
For groups, an appropriately sized vehicle can be requested in advance depending on local availability and passenger requirements.
Long-Distance Transfers from Makkah
Makkah is well positioned for road travel to several destinations in western Saudi Arabia. In addition to Jeddah and Madinah, private transfers can be arranged toward Taif and other cities or towns depending on the route and local vehicle availability.
Long-distance private transportation is useful for travellers who want to travel directly from their accommodation to their next destination without changing between buses, trains and taxis. It can also be suitable for business journeys or customised itineraries involving several cities.
For airport travel, private transfers can connect Makkah directly with King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, allowing passengers to complete the entire journey in one reserved vehicle.
Private Transfer or Regular Taxi?
Taxis and app-based transport are available in Makkah and can be practical for spontaneous local trips. A pre-booked private transfer is better suited to journeys where the time, route, passenger count and vehicle requirements are already known.
This is particularly useful for airport transfers, intercity travel and larger groups. Passengers can arrange an appropriate vehicle before departure rather than searching for transportation after arriving at the airport or hotel.
During busy religious travel periods, planning transportation in advance can also help reduce uncertainty. Exact access conditions can vary, so passengers should provide accurate hotel and pickup details when booking.
Getting Around Makkah
Makkah has a unique transport environment because visitor numbers can rise dramatically during religious seasons. Some areas around the central mosque and pilgrimage sites may have restricted vehicle access or special traffic arrangements at certain times.
Travellers should therefore allow additional time when planning transfers during Ramadan, Hajj and other busy periods. Pickup points may occasionally need to be adjusted to comply with local traffic controls or hotel access arrangements.
For travel between more distant districts or for itineraries involving several stops, a chauffeur-driven vehicle can provide greater convenience than arranging separate journeys throughout the day.
Travel During Hajj and Umrah
Hajj and Umrah create transportation requirements that are very different from ordinary city travel. Passenger volumes increase substantially, and road access, checkpoints and operating conditions can change according to official regulations.
Travellers should book transportation as early as possible during peak periods and provide complete information about their arrival, accommodation and number of passengers. Some services may be subject to seasonal restrictions or special permits, particularly during Hajj.
Private transportation is especially valuable for families and groups who want to travel together between the airport, accommodation and other destinations whenever local access rules permit.
Pre-Booked Transportation in Makkah
Whether you require a transfer from King Abdulaziz International Airport to Makkah, a private car to Jeddah, a long-distance journey to Madinah or Taif, or an hourly chauffeur service, arranging transportation before travel provides a convenient way to organise the journey.
WelcomeTaxi offers international private transfer and chauffeur services with vehicles selected according to passenger and luggage requirements. For Makkah, advance planning is particularly important because traffic and access conditions can vary considerably depending on the season.
