Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Private Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service in Puerto Plata
Puerto Plata is one of the most established travel destinations in the Dominican Republic, known for its Atlantic coastline, beach resorts, historic city center, cruise port, mountain views and easy access to nearby towns such as Sosúa and Cabarete. For many visitors, the journey starts at Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP), also known as Puerto Plata Airport, which serves the north coast of the country and is located close to the city and resort areas. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}
WelcomeTaxi offers private transfers and chauffeur service in Puerto Plata for airport arrivals, hotel transfers, resort transportation, business trips, cruise-related travel and long-distance journeys across the Dominican Republic. Instead of looking for a local taxi after landing or negotiating transportation at the last moment, travelers can arrange a pre-booked private ride with a confirmed pickup, clear route and suitable vehicle class.
Airport Transfers from Puerto Plata Airport (POP)
Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP) is the main airport for Puerto Plata and the surrounding north coast. It is commonly used by travelers staying in Puerto Plata city, Playa Dorada, Cofresí, Costambar, Sosúa, Cabarete and other nearby beach areas. The airport is relatively close to the city, making it convenient for resort transfers, private arrivals and departures, and onward travel along the coast. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}
A private airport transfer from POP is especially useful after a long international flight, when travelers want to avoid waiting, explaining the destination several times, or negotiating the fare on arrival. With WelcomeTaxi, the ride is arranged in advance, and the driver meets the passenger according to the booking details. This is a practical option for families, couples, groups, business travelers and guests arriving with luggage or sports equipment.
Puerto Plata Airport is also a convenient arrival point for travelers heading beyond the city itself. Private transfers can be arranged to Sosúa, Cabarete, Río San Juan, Santiago de los Caballeros, Las Terrenas, Samaná and other destinations depending on route availability. For longer routes, a pre-booked transfer provides more comfort and predictability than arranging separate local transport after arrival.
Nearby Airports for Puerto Plata
Although POP is the most direct airport for Puerto Plata, some travelers may arrive through Cibao International Airport (STI) in Santiago, especially when flight schedules or fares are more convenient. Santiago is inland from the north coast and can work as an alternative gateway for Puerto Plata, Sosúa, Cabarete and other destinations in the region. :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}
For travelers arriving at STI, WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance private transfers to Puerto Plata. This is often more comfortable than combining airport taxis, bus connections and local transportation, particularly for first-time visitors, late arrivals or passengers traveling with children and luggage. A direct private transfer allows passengers to move from the airport to their hotel, villa or resort without unnecessary stops.
Chauffeur Service in Puerto Plata
WelcomeTaxi also provides chauffeur service in Puerto Plata for travelers who need a private car with driver for local movements, meetings, resort-to-restaurant transfers, sightseeing or flexible transportation during the day. Chauffeur service is suitable when the trip is not limited to a simple airport pickup or point-to-point transfer.
Visitors may use chauffeur service for trips between hotels, marinas, beaches, restaurants, golf courses, cruise port areas and local attractions. It can also be useful for travelers who want to visit several places in one day without arranging a separate taxi for each segment. A pre-booked chauffeur gives more structure to the day while keeping the itinerary flexible.
English-speaking drivers are especially helpful for international travelers who prefer clear communication during pickup, routing and drop-off. While the driver is not a tour guide, being able to communicate in English makes the transfer smoother and reduces misunderstandings about timing, luggage, hotel names or intermediate stops.
Private Transfers Around Puerto Plata and the North Coast
Puerto Plata is part of a wider travel region on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. Many visitors stay outside the city center, in resort zones and coastal towns spread along the shoreline. This makes private transportation useful not only for airport arrivals, but also for intercity and resort-to-resort travel.
Popular transfer routes from Puerto Plata include trips to Playa Dorada, Cofresí, Costambar, Sosúa, Cabarete and Santiago. Longer journeys may include Samaná, Las Terrenas, Santo Domingo or Punta Cana, depending on itinerary and vehicle availability. For these routes, a private transfer is generally more comfortable than relying on local taxis for long distances or trying to combine multiple forms of public transportation.
The Dominican Republic has a mix of resort roads, city traffic, highways and rural routes. Travel times can vary depending on time of day, weather, local events and road conditions. A pre-booked private transfer gives travelers a more predictable arrangement, with the route, pickup point and destination confirmed before the ride.
Why Choose a Pre-Booked Transfer Instead of a Regular Taxi?
Regular taxis can be convenient for short local rides, but they are not always the best choice for airport arrivals, families, groups or long-distance transfers. At airports and resort areas, travelers may need to confirm the price, vehicle size and destination on the spot. This can be stressful after a flight, especially when traveling with luggage or arriving late in the evening.
A pre-booked private transfer removes much of that uncertainty. The vehicle class is selected in advance, the pickup details are known, and the route is agreed before the trip begins. This is particularly useful in Puerto Plata because hotels, resorts and villas may be located in different coastal zones rather than in one compact city center.
Private transfers are also useful for travelers who need a higher level of comfort, privacy or reliability. Instead of sharing transportation or waiting for other passengers, the ride is arranged for the passenger or group only. For airport departures, this also helps with planning the pickup time from the hotel and reducing the risk of last-minute delays.
Useful Travel Information for Puerto Plata
Puerto Plata combines beach tourism, city history and regional travel. The city is known for its colonial-style center, the Malecón, the cable car to Mount Isabel de Torres, nearby beaches and access to resort areas along the north coast. Many visitors do not stay directly in the city center, so transportation planning is important when moving between the airport, resort zones and local attractions.
For airport pickups, travelers should provide the flight number, arrival date, pickup location, passenger count and luggage details. For hotel and villa transfers, the exact property name and address help avoid delays, especially in resort areas where several hotels may have similar names. For long-distance trips, it is useful to confirm whether there are planned stops on the way.
WelcomeTaxi positions Puerto Plata as part of an international private transfer network, offering travelers a simple way to arrange transportation before they arrive. Whether the trip is a short airport transfer from POP, a chauffeur service booking within the city, or a longer ride from Santiago Airport (STI), pre-booking helps make the journey more organized, comfortable and suitable for international visitors.
