Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Airport Transfers and Chauffeur Service from Cairo International Airport
Cairo International Airport (CAI) is the busiest airport in Egypt and the main international gateway to Cairo, Giza, and the wider Greater Cairo area. Located northeast of central Cairo, the airport handles flights from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and other regions, making it an important arrival point for leisure travelers, corporate passengers, families, tour groups, and diplomatic visitors.
For many visitors, Cairo is the first introduction to Egypt: a large, dynamic, traffic-heavy city where travel times can vary significantly depending on the time of day, district, and road conditions. A pre-booked private transfer from Cairo Airport is one of the most convenient ways to reach your hotel or address without negotiating with local taxis, searching for transport after a long flight, or dealing with language barriers on arrival.
WelcomeTaxi provides private airport transfers, chauffeur service, and long-distance transfers from Cairo International Airport with professional local drivers and suitable vehicles for different passenger groups. Whether you are going to Downtown Cairo, Zamalek, Garden City, Heliopolis, Nasr City, New Cairo, Maadi, Giza, or the Pyramids area, your transfer can be arranged in advance with clear pickup instructions and a vehicle class matched to your needs.
Getting from Cairo Airport to the City
Cairo International Airport is connected with the city by major roads, including routes toward Heliopolis, Nasr City, Downtown Cairo, New Cairo, and Giza. In light traffic, some central districts can be reached relatively quickly, but Cairo traffic is often dense and unpredictable. Travel time may increase during morning and evening rush hours, public holidays, school periods, or around major events.
Typical destinations from CAI include central Cairo hotels, Nile-side properties, business districts, embassies, residential compounds, museums, universities, and tourist areas around Giza. For first-time visitors, the distance on the map can be misleading: a short route may take much longer than expected when traffic builds up, especially when crossing from eastern Cairo toward the west bank and Giza.
With a pre-booked airport transfer, the driver meets you according to the confirmed pickup details and takes you directly to your destination. This is especially useful if you arrive late at night, travel with children, carry heavy luggage, or need to reach a specific hotel, villa, office, or residential compound without confusion.
Transportation Options from Cairo International Airport
Private Airport Transfers
A private airport transfer is the most comfortable and predictable option for most international visitors. The service is arranged before arrival, so you do not need to compare taxi offers at the airport or look for a ride after collecting your luggage. Your driver has the destination details in advance, and the vehicle is selected according to your passenger and luggage requirements.
Private transfers from Cairo Airport are suitable for solo travelers, couples, families, business guests, VIP passengers, and small groups. Depending on the request, vehicles may include sedans, SUVs, vans, minibuses, or larger vehicles for groups. This makes the service especially practical for hotel transfers, conference arrivals, cruise connections, and multi-stop itineraries.
Regular Taxis
Regular taxis are available at Cairo Airport, but the experience may vary. Some travelers are comfortable arranging transport on the spot, while others prefer not to negotiate prices, explain addresses, or handle uncertainty after a long flight. For visitors who do not speak Arabic or who are unfamiliar with Cairo’s districts, a standard taxi can sometimes be less convenient than a pre-arranged transfer.
A pre-booked service gives you a clearer structure: the route, pickup point, vehicle type, and destination are confirmed in advance. This is particularly valuable when traveling to hotels in Giza, private compounds, business addresses, or less obvious locations outside the central tourist areas.
Ride-Hailing Services
Ride-hailing apps are used in Cairo, but they may still require mobile data, local navigation, phone coordination, and sometimes waiting in a busy airport environment. Pickup locations can be confusing for visitors arriving at an unfamiliar terminal, and communication with the driver may not always be easy.
For simple city trips, ride-hailing can work well, but for airport arrivals, families, groups, business guests, or travelers with special timing requirements, a pre-booked private transfer is usually more reliable and easier to manage.
Public Transportation
Public transportation in Cairo is extensive, but it is not always the most convenient choice directly from the airport, especially with luggage. Visitors may need to combine buses, metro routes, taxis, or walking segments depending on the final destination. This can be challenging after an international flight, particularly for passengers arriving at night or traveling to Giza, New Cairo, Maadi, or suburban areas.
For budget-conscious travelers with light luggage and local experience, public transport may be possible. For most international passengers, however, a direct airport transfer is a simpler and more comfortable solution.
Private Transfers from Cairo Airport to Popular Areas
Cairo is not a compact city, and choosing the right transfer option depends heavily on the exact destination. A ride from Cairo Airport to Heliopolis or Nasr City is very different from a transfer to Giza, Sheikh Zayed City, 6th of October City, or the New Administrative Capital. Pre-booking helps avoid confusion and ensures that the driver receives the full route information before the service.
Popular transfer routes from Cairo International Airport include CAI to Downtown Cairo, CAI to Zamalek, CAI to Garden City, CAI to Maadi, CAI to New Cairo, CAI to Giza hotels, CAI to the Pyramids area, CAI to Sheikh Zayed City, and CAI to 6th of October City. Transfers can also be arranged to resorts, business venues, exhibition centers, universities, and private addresses across the wider region.
For tourists, one of the most requested routes is from Cairo Airport to Giza, where many hotels are located near the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum area. Although Giza is part of the Greater Cairo region, the drive from CAI can take time because it usually involves crossing a large part of the city. A private transfer is often the easiest way to make this journey comfortably after arrival.
Chauffeur Service in Cairo
WelcomeTaxi also offers chauffeur service in Cairo for travelers who need more than a simple airport-to-hotel transfer. Chauffeur-driven transportation is useful for business meetings, embassy visits, hotel inspections, conferences, sightseeing programs, shopping trips, and multi-stop itineraries around Cairo and Giza.
An hourly chauffeur service gives you more flexibility than booking separate point-to-point rides. Instead of arranging a new taxi after every meeting or stop, the car and driver remain available for the agreed period. This can be especially helpful in Cairo, where traffic, parking, security checkpoints, and local navigation can make spontaneous transportation more complicated than expected.
For corporate guests, a private chauffeur service creates a smoother arrival experience and a more professional impression. For leisure travelers, it allows easier visits to the Pyramids, museums, Islamic Cairo, Coptic Cairo, Khan el-Khalili, Nile-side restaurants, and other attractions without repeatedly searching for transport during the day.
Long-Distance Transfers from Cairo Airport
Cairo International Airport is also a practical starting point for long-distance transfers across Egypt. Many travelers arrive at CAI and continue directly to another city, resort, port, archaeological site, or regional destination. Instead of changing transport in central Cairo, a private long-distance transfer can take you directly from the airport to your final stop.
Common long-distance routes from Cairo Airport include transfers to Alexandria, Ain Sokhna, the North Coast, Fayoum, Ismailia, Suez, Port Said, and other destinations. Depending on the itinerary, private transfers may also be arranged for intercity travel, business roadshows, family trips, or custom routes with stops along the way.
For longer journeys, comfort becomes especially important. A suitable vehicle, enough luggage space, planned pickup details, and an experienced local driver can make the difference between a stressful trip and a smooth continuation of your journey. This is why many international travelers prefer to arrange long-distance transfers from CAI before they arrive in Egypt.
Why Pre-Book a Transfer from Cairo Airport?
Pre-booking your Cairo Airport transfer gives you more control over the arrival experience. Instead of making transport decisions in a busy airport terminal, you have the service arranged in advance. This is particularly useful for first-time visitors, families with children, travelers arriving late, business passengers with a fixed schedule, or groups requiring a van or minibus.
A pre-booked private transfer also helps with vehicle planning. Standard taxis may not be convenient if you have several suitcases, sports equipment, baby strollers, or a larger group. With WelcomeTaxi, you can request a vehicle class that better matches your passenger count and luggage needs.
Another advantage is communication. English-speaking drivers make the arrival process easier for international passengers, especially when the destination is a private address, villa, office complex, residential compound, or hotel with a similar name to another property. Clear coordination reduces the risk of misunderstandings and unnecessary delays.
Local Travel Specifics in Cairo
Cairo is a major metropolitan area with heavy traffic, complex road layouts, and large differences between districts. Travel times can change quickly, and some routes that look simple on a map may require extra time in practice. Airport transfers to Giza, 6th of October City, Sheikh Zayed City, or the New Administrative Capital should be planned with enough time, especially before meetings, tours, or onward travel.
Visitors should also consider that Cairo has several important airport options. Cairo International Airport (CAI) is the main airport, while Sphinx International Airport (SPX) is relevant for Giza, the Pyramids area, and western Greater Cairo. Capital International Airport (CCE) serves the New Administrative Capital area and may be useful for selected routes. For most international arrivals, CAI remains the primary gateway, but SPX and CCE are important neighboring airports for regional planning.
When booking a transfer, it is helpful to provide the full hotel name, exact address, terminal details if known, flight number, passenger count, and luggage information. For private residences or compounds, adding a map pin or clear building entrance details can make the pickup or drop-off smoother.
