Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a ride?
We recommend booking your transfer or hourly hire service at least 72 hours in advance. If you don’t have that much time, you can request an urgent transfer — we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we can confirm it.
What pick-up time should I specify for the transfer?
If your transfer starts from an airport or railway station, please specify your flight or train arrival time as the start of your transfer. This helps the driver organize the meeting more accurately.
If your transfer starts from a hotel to an airport, please indicate the time you wish to be picked up at reception. You’ll need to calculate it yourself, allowing extra time for check-in. We recommend adding about 3 hours before your flight’s departure. For example, if your flight leaves at 14:00 and the trip takes 1 hour, your pick-up time should be 10:00.
How do I know if my order has been accepted?
After submitting your booking, you’ll receive an email with all trip details and your order status as “Waiting”. Once we receive and confirm your payment, the status will change to “Accepted”, and you’ll receive another email confirmation.
If you don’t receive the confirmation email, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
How do I change my booking?
To make changes to your booking, please contact our support team at office@welcome.taxi.
Important note: Requests for changes made less than 72 hours before your trip may be declined.
How can I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking in two ways:
- Via the booking page on our website — use the cancellation number provided in your booking voucher, at least 72 hours before the trip.
- By contacting our support team if it’s less than 72 hours before your ride.
Important note: In case of urgent cancellation, we may not be able to refund your deposit. The free cancellation period is stated in your confirmation email.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
If your flight is delayed by less than 30 minutes, the driver will adjust their arrival time automatically.
If the delay is longer, please inform the driver directly (their phone number is in your confirmation voucher) or contact WelcomeTaxi Customer Support at office@welcome.taxi. Please include your order number and the new arrival time.
Important note: The driver may charge an additional fee for extended waiting time.
How will I find my driver?
For airport transfers, if you’ve added the meet-and-greet option to your order, the driver will meet you in the arrivals area — right after passport control and baggage claim. You’ll see a name sign with your first and last names (or custom text, if specified in your booking).
Important note: We strongly recommend adding the meet-and-greet option to your airport transfer booking.
For hotel pickups, the driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby. Detailed meeting instructions and your driver’s contact number are provided in your booking confirmation voucher.
How can I be sure that my driver will pick me up?
WelcomeTaxi guarantees that your driver will do their best to meet you on time.
Both you and the driver will have each other’s phone or WhatsApp number. Please keep your mobile phone switched on at the time of pickup. If you can’t reach the driver, contact our support team immediately.
I can’t find my driver. What should I do?
If you can’t find your driver, please double-check the name signs again — the driver may have missed you in the crowd.
Try calling or messaging the driver via WhatsApp. If there’s no response within the meeting time, contact our support team.
If necessary, go to the airport’s Information Desk to arrange a local taxi to your destination.
Important note: If the driver fails to meet you, we will refund your payment.

Private Transport in Cairo and Greater Cairo
Cairo is the capital of Egypt and one of the largest urban centres in Africa and the Middle East. The city extends along the Nile and forms a vast metropolitan area together with Giza, New Cairo and numerous surrounding districts. Its historic monuments, museums, government institutions, universities and commercial centres attract millions of leisure and business travellers every year.
Moving around such a large and busy city requires careful planning. Distances between Cairo International Airport, central Cairo, Giza, New Cairo and the western suburbs can be considerable, while traffic conditions may significantly affect journey times. A pre-booked private transfer provides a straightforward way to travel directly between the airport, hotel, private address or business venue.
WelcomeTaxi offers private airport transfers, chauffeur service and long-distance transportation in Cairo and other parts of Egypt. Services can be arranged for individual travellers, couples, families, corporate passengers and larger groups requiring vans, minibuses or buses.
Cairo Airport Transfers
Transfers from Cairo International Airport (CAI)
Cairo International Airport is the principal international gateway to the Egyptian capital. It is located northeast of central Cairo and serves a wide range of domestic, regional and long-haul flights. The airport has several terminals, so passengers should provide accurate flight information when arranging their pickup.
A private airport transfer from CAI offers direct transportation to hotels and addresses throughout Cairo and Giza. Popular destinations include Downtown Cairo, Zamalek, Garden City, Heliopolis, Nasr City, Maadi, New Cairo and the area surrounding the Giza Pyramids.
Although taxis and ride-hailing services are available, finding the correct vehicle and communicating the exact destination can be tiring after a long flight. With a pre-booked transfer, the route, passenger number, luggage requirements and vehicle class are arranged in advance.
Private transfers are also useful for early-morning departures and late-night arrivals. Passengers can travel directly from their accommodation to the appropriate airport terminal without changing vehicles or negotiating the journey at the pickup point.
Transfers from Sphinx International Airport (SPX)
Sphinx International Airport serves Giza and the western side of Greater Cairo. Its location can be convenient for passengers visiting the Giza Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Sheikh Zayed City, 6th of October City and other destinations west of the Nile.
Depending on the final address, SPX may be closer than Cairo International Airport. However, onward public transport options are more limited, making a pre-arranged private vehicle particularly practical. WelcomeTaxi can provide direct transfers from Sphinx International Airport to Cairo hotels, archaeological sites, residential communities and regional destinations.
Passengers should still allow sufficient travel time when continuing to central or eastern Cairo, as Greater Cairo covers a very large area and road conditions vary throughout the day.
Transfers from Capital International Airport (CCE)
Capital International Airport serves the area around Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, east of Cairo. It may be relevant for government delegations, corporate travellers, construction professionals and visitors attending events or meetings in the new city.
Private transportation can be arranged between CCE, the New Administrative Capital, New Cairo and other parts of the metropolitan region. Because many locations in this developing area are spread out, door-to-door chauffeur service is often more convenient than relying on several separate transport connections.
Chauffeur Service in Cairo
A chauffeur service in Cairo offers more flexibility than a simple point-to-point transfer. The driver and vehicle can remain available for an agreed period, allowing passengers to visit several locations without arranging a new taxi for every journey.
Hourly chauffeur hire is suitable for business meetings, diplomatic visits, conferences, shopping trips, private events and sightseeing programmes. A driver can collect passengers from their hotel, wait during appointments and continue to the next destination according to the planned itinerary.
Business travellers may require transportation between Cairo International Airport, New Cairo, the New Administrative Capital and commercial districts elsewhere in the city. A private chauffeur helps maintain a consistent schedule while avoiding repeated negotiations with local taxis.
Leisure visitors can use a chauffeured vehicle to explore attractions on both sides of the Nile. A typical itinerary may combine the Egyptian Museum, Islamic Cairo, Khan el-Khalili, the Citadel, Coptic Cairo, the Giza Plateau and the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Transfers to the Giza Pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum
The Giza Pyramids are among the most important visitor attractions in Egypt. They are located on the western side of Greater Cairo, outside the traditional city centre. Travel times vary considerably depending on the pickup district and traffic conditions.
A private transfer provides direct transportation from Cairo hotels or airports to the Giza Plateau. Passengers do not need to navigate local transport or arrange a return vehicle after completing their visit.
The Grand Egyptian Museum is also located in the Giza area near the pyramids. Travellers can combine the museum and archaeological sites in one chauffeur-driven itinerary, with the vehicle remaining available between stops where arranged.
When planning a visit, passengers should provide the preferred schedule and any additional destinations in advance. Cairo traffic can make an overly ambitious itinerary difficult to complete, so allowing adequate time between attractions is important.
Getting Around Cairo
Cairo has a varied transport network that includes the metro, public buses, taxis, minibuses and ride-hailing services. The metro can be efficient for certain routes, particularly within established central districts, but it does not directly serve every hotel, attraction or residential area.
Public transportation may be suitable for experienced independent travellers carrying little luggage. However, Cairo’s size, traffic density and complex road network can make private transportation more comfortable for first-time visitors, families and business passengers.
Distances that appear short on a map may take much longer than expected during peak periods. Morning and evening commuting hours are especially busy, while congestion can also develop near bridges, commercial districts and major visitor attractions.
Passengers travelling to the airport, an important meeting or a scheduled tour should plan a generous time allowance. A professional local driver can select an appropriate route based on current road conditions, although journey times can never be guaranteed in heavy traffic.
Why Pre-Book Instead of Taking a Regular Taxi?
Regular taxis are widely available in Cairo, but the vehicle condition, luggage capacity and payment expectations may vary. Pre-booking allows the essential journey details to be confirmed before the passenger arrives.
The booking specifies the pickup location, destination, date, time and passenger number. Travellers can also request a vehicle suitable for their luggage or reserve a van or minibus for a larger group.
A private airport transfer removes the need to negotiate with drivers outside the terminal or explain a complex destination after a long flight. This is especially useful when travelling to residential compounds, hotels outside central Cairo or addresses in the New Administrative Capital.
An English-speaking driver can assist with basic communication during the journey. This can make arrival easier for international passengers who do not speak Arabic or are unfamiliar with the layout of Greater Cairo.
Group Transportation in Cairo
Cairo attracts organised tours, school groups, conference participants, wedding guests and corporate delegations. When several passengers travel together, using one suitably sized vehicle is often more practical than arranging multiple taxis.
Vans are appropriate for families and smaller groups, while minibuses and buses may be arranged for larger parties. The correct vehicle depends not only on the passenger number but also on the quantity of suitcases and any additional equipment.
Group transportation can include airport pickup, hotel transfers, sightseeing, event transport and journeys to destinations outside Cairo. A clear itinerary should be provided in advance, especially when several stops or separate pickup locations are involved.
Long-Distance Transfers from Cairo
Cairo is a major starting point for road journeys to other parts of Egypt. WelcomeTaxi can arrange long-distance transfers from Cairo to coastal resorts, historic cities, business centres and private destinations.
Alexandria is one of the most common long-distance destinations. A private transfer offers direct transportation between Cairo and an Alexandria hotel, port, residence or business address without the need to travel through railway stations.
Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea is another popular route for resort stays, weekend trips and cruise connections. Private transfers can also be arranged to Fayoum, Ismailia, Suez and other destinations within practical driving distance of Cairo.
Longer journeys to cities farther south or to Red Sea resorts require additional planning. The distance, road conditions, driver working hours and potential rest stops must all be considered when preparing the service.
For a multi-day itinerary, travellers should provide the complete route, accommodation locations and approximate daily schedule. This allows the transportation requirements to be reviewed properly and an appropriate quotation to be prepared.
Business and Corporate Transportation
Cairo is Egypt’s principal business centre and hosts international companies, government institutions, embassies and major conference venues. Corporate travellers often require reliable transportation between airports, hotels, offices and meeting locations.
A chauffeur-driven vehicle can be reserved for a single airport transfer, several appointments or a full working day. This gives the passenger one consistent point of transportation rather than a series of unrelated taxi journeys.
Executive and premium vehicles may be requested for senior management, official delegations and formal events. Larger vehicles can be arranged for teams attending exhibitions, conferences or company functions.
Choosing the Right Vehicle
The appropriate vehicle depends on the passenger number, luggage quantity, journey length and required comfort level. Sedans are generally suitable for individual travellers, couples and small groups with standard luggage.
Families and passengers carrying several suitcases may require a larger vehicle. Vans provide additional seating and luggage capacity, while minibuses and coaches are intended for organised groups.
Passengers should not select a vehicle based only on the number of seats. Suitcases, pushchairs, wheelchairs and oversized equipment also occupy significant space. Accurate information helps ensure that the assigned vehicle is suitable for the journey.
Useful Information for Your Cairo Transfer
When requesting a transfer, provide the full pickup and drop-off locations, service date, pickup time, passenger number and total luggage quantity. Airport bookings should include the flight number and scheduled arrival or departure details.
Cairo contains many hotels and streets with similar names, so a complete address is important. Sharing the hotel name together with its district helps avoid confusion, particularly when the property belongs to an international chain with several locations.
For chauffeur bookings, provide the planned stops and estimated service duration. Sightseeing itineraries should account for admission procedures, walking time and possible delays at popular attractions.
WelcomeTaxi provides international private transfer and chauffeur services in Cairo and throughout Egypt. Advance booking offers a convenient way to organise airport pickups, business transportation, sightseeing and long-distance travel with a suitable vehicle and professional driver.
